“Line Walker: The Prelude” Unveils New Trailer

An all-new trailer for Line Walker: The Prelude <使徒行者2> has dropped on the web, and it’s living up to the hype.

The crime drama, prequel to TVB’s hit series Line Walker, was a breakout hit when it was released in Hong Kong and China in 2014. It was the highest-rated television drama in Hong Kong, and was the most-watched online TVB drama in Mainland China.

Co-produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures, The Prelude takes place right before the original series, and several years before the 2016 film of the same name. The prequel sees the return of Michael Miu (苗僑偉) as Cheuk Sir, chief inspector of the CIB, who dispatches a team of undercover agents (UCs) across different triad organizations. Veteran actor Hui Shiu-hung (許紹雄) also returns as the popular Foon-heir Gor, a former police officer.

The show features a brand new, all-star cast that includes Moses Chan (陳豪), Jessica Hsuan (宣萱), Priscilla Wong (黃翠如), Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), and Pakho Chau (周柏豪). Eddie Cheung (張兆輝) and Tony Hung (洪永城) also make guest star appearances. Principal photography went through several overseas locations, including Thailand and South Korea.

The Prelude will first hit television screens in China before it makes its premiere in Hong Kong this summer. Dragon TV and Tencent Video hold the broadcasting rights in China.

  1. will this prequel also focus on how it was jimmy au’s character that sent all those undercover agents? or will it follow the movie and completely ignore the story presented in the 2014 series and just milk the goodwill from the first series?

    1. @rucofan1100 Probably the latter, since it’s not like TVB cares much about continuity throughout their productions. Seeing that this is TVB, they will probably go the Laughing Gor route and milk the franchise dry with a multitude of sequels/prequels/spinoffs in both TV series and movie formats, but not give a crap whether any of it makes sense plot or story wise. Isn’t there also a Line Walker sequel (prequel? spinoff?) TV series out there filmed by a Mainland production company where pretty much no one from the original cast returns except for like Uncle Benz (Hui Siu Hung)? I thought I read about that somewhere, but then again that was awhile back ago so the info could have changed by now.

In any case, just like with the Laughing Gor thing, I have no interest whatsoever in watching whatever additional content they come up with for the Line Walker franchise (didn’t even like the original series to be honest)…kind of feel sorry for the fans though having to witness TVB drag the series through the mud (but then again, everyone should be used to it by now….).

  2. Wait, so the movie was a prequel of this prequel??? What was the movie’s plot then? Beside Charm, how was related to the TVB series? Same this one, besides Michael Miu, doubt it really flows into the TVB series. The beginning of series was about those UC and this one is also about UC…eh wah? Lol!
