TVB Rookie Dickson Yu is Neighbors with Aaron Kwok

TVB rookie Dickson Yu (余德丞), who has been catching eyes with his performance in the TVB anniversary drama My Ages Apart <誇世代>, is the watch-out star for 2017. The 28-year-old became the center of gossip attention soon after dating rumors between him and his costar Louisa Mak (麥明詩) started, but this was quickly denied by Louisa.

Dickson, who is already known for having good looks and a fit, athletic body, made his debut as a commercial film actor in 2011. Before his entertainment career, he was a swimmer, and represented Hong Kong in the national team. In 2013, he signed with TVB and became a presenter for TVB’s sports channel. It wasn’t until 2015 when he crossed over to acting, and debuted his first performance in 2015’s Blue Veins <殭>.

After some more digging by the press, it was discovered that Dickson actually comes from a wealthy family. The 28-year-old grew up in Happy Valley and lives in the luxury complex Carrie Garden, making him Aaron Kwok’s (郭富城) neighbor. Their apartment is worth HK$20 million.

Despite his wealth, Dickson makes an effort to stay modest. Though he only drives a HK$400,000 Volkswagen car to work every day, he would make sure he isn’t followed when he retrieves his car in the parking garage.

Reporters had reached out to Dickson for comment. The young actor did not deny his family wealth, but stayed humble, “My father works in logistics. He’s not self-employed. My mother stays at home. I actually didn’t know Aaron Kwok lived there until we moved in. I’ve met him before, and we would greet each other.”

His family’s wealth stretches beyond the property they own in Happy Valley. Dickson and his mother also own a property in South Horizons, located in the Southern District of Hong Kong. The property is reportedly worth HK$8 million. His family also owns more property, worth at least HK$50 million.
