“Heart and Greed” Nora Miao Had Affairs with Bruce Lee and Pat Poon

The threequel to TVB’s hit series may not be meeting up to the standards of its predecessors, but credit must be given where credit is due—there’s no doubt that TVB did put some thought into making the show, and it definitely shows.

For one, TVB invited ex-actress Nora Miao (苗可秀) back into the Hong Kong showbiz, and she offered her first TVB appearance to Heart and Greed <溏心風暴3>, appearing in four episodes as a guest star. Nora has been more or less out of showbiz since the late 1980’s, and the 65-year-old lives in Toronto, Canada permanently.

Nora made her debut in 1971, starring in films produced by Golden Harvest. Nora is perhaps best known for being Bruce Lee’s (李小龍) frequent collaborator, having appeared opposite Bruce in films like The Big Boss <唐山大兄> and The Way of the Dragon <猛龍過江>. Nora is also the only actress to share an on-screen kiss with Bruce, for the 1972 film Fist of Fury <精武門>. According to news reports, Nora and Bruce eventually started a relationship, despite the fact that Bruce was already married to Linda Lee Cadwell. Nora never denied these reports.

In 1987, Nora started an affair with Pat Poon (潘志文) during the filming of ATV’s The Rise and Fall of Qing Dynasty <滿清十三皇朝>. According to rumors at the time, Nora was the reason why Pat’s wife convinced him to emigrate to Vancouver. Although Nora and Pat are no longer romantically linked, the two have remained friends, and have been close confidants for over 30 years.

Perhaps she’s doing a homage to herself, but Nora’s character in Heart and Greed reflects her own personal life. Playing Ha Yu’s (夏雨) ex-lover, Nora comes back into his life years later, perhaps to wreck havoc on his family.

  1. Oh! She’s Nora Miao?! I thought she looks stunning even at this age and the way she dressed. Acting was fantastic. But her character was introduced for the sake of just to be introduced. Not connected to the story at all except to show Karl is a great guy.
