Tony Hung Replaces Ron Ng in “Intern Nurses”

Tony Hung (洪永城) stepped in as the male lead for TVB drama Intern Nurses <實習天使>, after Ron Ng (吳卓羲) dropped out due to schedule conflicts.

Not minding being a replacement,Tony laughed, “I’m happy that I was chosen – I will do my best because it’s in my hands now. It doesn’t matter how many people were asked to play before me; it won’t affect me.”

On the challenges of playing a strict instructor for nurses, Tony added, “This character is very cool – he enunciates very clearly and it’s hard to play. I’ve talked to my seniors and I will study some Korean dramas. I’m afraid to call her [Natalie Tong 唐詩詠] my senior, but I will ask for her opinion too.”

Eliza Sam (岑麗香), Jinny Ng (吳若希), Joel Chan (陳山聰), and Toby Leung (梁靖琪) also appeared at the press event for the drama, which will be produced by Yip Chun Fai (葉鎮輝).

Ron Ng to Head Up North Instead of Renewing With TVB?

Currently busy filming a television series in Mainland, Ron revealed he will not be back in Hong Kong any time soon. While it is speculated that he will soon leave TVB in favor of filming in China, Ron said he will have to go back to the station to negotiate his contract when time permits.

  1. so sad we gotta adapt to this whole new era consisting mostly new actors and actress in TVB…

  2. Heard that Jay Fung will have a second lead role in this series but I dont see him in the blessing. However as much as I like Jay Fung, I dont think he can do good in a second lead role for her first time on screen. He wont learn anything especially when his senior aka the main lead is Tony Hung.

3C is the only experienced actor. Such a series.

    1. @alluka WTF, is this confirmed? no way to Jay Fung. i never liked him & he doesn’t even have acting experience or at least acted before.

      1. @spearmintx3 Confirmed. Yes, Jay Fung has zero acting skill and this is his very first series.

Even a person who like him like me cant accept, I understand why you cant.

  3. It is very sad that TVB has to cast someone so new like Tony Hung, Eliza Sam as lead artistes.

  4. Welcome to the new era of television drama, where you are newly introduce to all these new actor and actress. If you miss all the older actors and actress I guess we all have to start watching China’s drama…Can’t imagine what will happen 5 years down the road.

      1. @alien if you like palace catfight, can try Empresses In The Palace which is the best Chinese palace series in recent time. The Empress of China is ok if you like beautiful clothes, beautiful scenes and beautiful women.

If you like detective theme, you can try Evil Minds without a famous artists but decent script.

If you like modern social family issue, can try Tiger Mom.

Cruel Romance isnt too bad if you like romantic young lady type. My sunshine is suitable for romantic girls although I think it is very slow. Boss & Me is for teenager but it is quite easy to watch.

The Pawnshop No.8 is a very old series but I think it is good for a horror one.

  5. I like Tony Hung, personally I think he’s a funny and jovial person. He has a pleasant personality. Love watching the documentary series he hosted. Acting wise, mediocre but I’m sure with great coaching and right opportunities he’ll improve. Hope to see more of him in TVB series.

  6. Omygoodness all the veteran artist is headin up to mainland now what am i going to watch for the future series this sucks big time!!!!!

    Who is Jay Fung btw………..

    1. @sherla1019 A winner of The Voice Hongkong who has became a young singer. He is with EEG, not The Voice media established by TVB. He has the potential as a singer but not sure how he acts. He only filmed MVs before.

  7. Time is changing. Nowadays, everyone wants to go to China after they are getting more famous. TVB is just a platform for them to get more famous.

I am sure former TVB actors/actresses will go to the other TV channels in HK (hopefully without any restrictions anymore, just like in other countries). This hopefully means they are not restricted to only appear for 1 TV channel.

The new TV channels will need the former TVB actors/actresses to get the attention, so most likely they are getting a very high paycheck compared to TVB.

  8. its fine that tvb bring new actors in, but all these actors nowaday in tvb are missing some “wow-factor”. someone that you can immediately see that is the “real deal”. someone you think that can become a superstar one day.but all the new actors in tvb are all lookiing very common nodadays, nothing special.

  9. Dude can’t act.

Who is playing favourites for him to get all these opportunities when he clearly doesn’t have the skills to justify it?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for opportunities for newbie actors and actresses but this is a bit too much.

People always diss miss HK turned actresses and the promotion they receive but at least most of them’ve got the looks, Tony’s got nothing going on for him.
