Wallace Huo Stars in Chinese-Korean Rom-com “Honey Enemy”

The romantic comedy Honey Enemy <情敵蜜月>, which stars Taiwanese actor Wallace Huo (霍建華), South Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo (權相佑), and mainland Chinese actress Kitty Zhang (張雨綺), recently held a press conference in Beijing, where it screened its first teaser trailer. The film will open in theaters in September.

Honey Enemy is a new take on a well-known rom-com storyline. The movie tells of how Xia Xiaoyu (Kitty Zhang) joins hands with playboy Zhou Yunfeng (Kwon Sang-woo) in order to steal back her ex-boyfriend, Xu Mo (Wallace Huo), from her romantic rival, Ye Jingsi (mainland Chinese actress Shi Yufei 施予斐).

Though Kitty was not present at the press conference due to her recent divorce from director Wang Quan’an (王全安), Wallace and Sang-woo gamely compensated the audience for the absence of Honey Enemy’s lead actress. At one point, Sang-woo held onto Wallace’s hand, embraced him, and then spontaneously kissed him on the cheek. Because this happened very quickly, Wallace then returned the gesture so that the audience could witness the exchange more clearly.

Wallace also shared that he and Sang-woo became very good friends when filming Honey Enemy. When filming wrapped, Wallace prepared Chinese wine for Sang-woo, who had previously expressed a desire to drink some. The two even exchanged phone numbers even though they do not speak the same language.

During the press conference, Wallace and Sang-woo were asked how they would deal with romantic rivals in real life. Wallace made light of the question, joking, “If he has better qualifications than you, then you’d better hurry up and withdraw. Otherwise, it depends on each person’s abilities.” As for Sang-woo, he said he would refrain from pursuing women who are already romantically involved, thus avoiding any potential rivals in love.

Honey Enemy is helmed by young mainland Chinese director Zhang Linzi (張林子) and produced by South Korean director/screenwriter Kwak Jae-yong (郭在容).

  1. Aw man. It would’ve been great if the male leads swap role. I wanna see him in a more playful char and the other guy’s role seems to be just that.

  2. I am happy Wallace is getting more exposure in all sorts of medium and I am happy Jaynestars is back to translating news about this gorgeous man but frankly I wished he exercise the same restrain in choosing his movie roles like he does with TV. I don’t see this winning box office or awards, or even popularity because the story has been done millions of times. Good thing about movies is they can be more daring, so it makes him more daring and he also looks particularly well fed in movies and hopefully using his own voice but I absolutely could not recommend a single movie done by him worth recommending that has either commercial appeal or “acting” appeal.

    1. @funnlim on the other hand, if he did well commercially in movies, that means he’ll likely take on more projects related to films. I rather watch his lovely acting on the small screen where I’ll get to see his face more than on the big one.

  3. Jayne, you should post the picture of that extreme bromance where both leads kissed one another and I don’t mean the ladies. Koreans are very affectionate to their brothers and all and good thing, Wallace reciprocated.

  4. I’m going to pretend that badly photoshopped, fake looking diamond ring is for me. Yes, I’ll marry you, Wallace, lol.

  5. Wallace also recently filmed a movie with Simon Yam and Korean hottie Jang Hyuk. The title is Inside and Outside. Wonder when will that be shown ?

    1. @prettysup1 shld be soon since movies are released sooner. Anor round,of press and stuff for Wallace. That one shld be interesting watch.
