Angelababy’s Face Examined to Refute Plastic Surgery Rumors

For years, Angelababy (楊穎) has been dogged by rumors that she underwent plastic surgery in order to attain her current facial features. She recently had her face examined by a well-known plastic surgeon in order to prove that she has never gone under the knife.

Angelababy visited a plastic surgery hospital in west Beijing on October 15. There, hospital chief Qi Zuoliang (祁佐良), who is also a renowned plastic surgeon, took X-ray photos of her face and conducted further examinations of her facial features, including her forehead, nose, eyelids, mouth, cheeks, and the corners of her eyes. During the inspection, Angelababy did not wear any makeup.

Following the examination, Qi confirmed that Angelababy’s face was natural and had no trace of surgical incisions. He added that although she did have braces when she was younger, this is considered a normal form of teeth-straightening and should not be categorized as plastic surgery.

The surgeon also spoke up about Angelababy’s double eyelids: “Double eyelids that are achieved through plastic surgery usually have two very obvious layers. Baby is unlike most other people; she naturally has several layers.”

Years of Plastic Surgery Rumors

Angelababy’s decision to have her face examined is the result of an essay posted by a mainland Chinese beauty clinic called Ruili in 2012. The essay, which is titled “Angelababy’s Plastic Surgery Failed, and Netizens Say Her Chin is Extremely Unnatural,” also contained photos of the actress before her alleged surgery.

In response, Angelababy filed a complaint against them for defamation and violation of her portrait rights. Although a Beijing court ruled in her favor in May of this year, Ruili refused to provide compensation and filed for an appeal. As a result, the court suggested that Angelababy undergo a facial examination.

Angelababy has been fighting plastic surgery rumors as early as July 2010, when a weekly publication claimed that she had been continually going under the knife for the past seven years. At the time, Angelababy had already considered finding a doctor to examine her face, but none of the doctors in Hong Kong were willing to do so. Thus, she followed Fan Bingbing’s (范冰冰) example and looked for a hospital in mainland China.

“It’s very exhausting bearing this pressure,” said Angelababy, who has previously stated that her unique looks come from her quarter-German ancestry. “I don’t want to be attacked by magazines or netizens anymore. If it’s true that I underwent plastic surgery, I will admit it, but I did not do it.”

Angelababy’s husband, Huang Xiaoming (黃曉明), has expressed his support of her: “Everyone says she’s gotten plastic surgery, but that’s because nobody has seen what she usually looks like. I’m not an idiot. I know she hasn’t gone under the knife.”

      Sorry but she is definately not natural at all. She did so much work but still does not look so great. I guess plastic surgery can only do so much. Time will tell when her face starts to fall apart.

    hmmmm until she goes under a scan in public TV, I’m not going to believe it.. The one in Korea where a TV news person show she got her nose done!

    it have nothing to do with jealously but no way can someone change THAT much after puberty or whatever you call it.

    Of all places, she got her examine done in China, lol. Wonder why HK refused to examine her?! It’s definitely easier to bribed in China so yea. The thing with angelababy is that she looks completely different from her early pictures. I still believe she got her jaw done and that’s coming from someone who also had braces for years. Angelababy likely used filters like Michelle Phan on her nose, cheeks, and even chin (explains why her features are always changing) too. Lol at her hubby’s comment! I would probably believe him more if he actually admit to his PS too. He’s no natural beauty either.

      @vlol Even if HXM really did have PS, it would just be a little nip tuck here and there, nothing major. He has the same facial feature as when he was in HZGG3 (Princess Pearl 3)..

        @m0m0 Maybe botox then. I have seen brochure in a hospital (PS department). Pre-botox and post botox really has a difference. A square face can become oval. Or it could be the lost of baby fat.

        Yea, HXM probably had minor things done but he is still not as good looking as the natural beauties such as Wallace Huo or Hu Ge. I never understood the hype about HXM. He’s neither talented in the acting department and his looks still lacks even after PS. >.<

        @vlol Nothing against Hu Ge but Hu Ge is of course not a natural beauty. He had a serious accident in the past which ruined his face enough that he had to do plastic surgery. So his current face is actually not his past look.

        However I can say his situation is still a lot better than Yu Hao Ming. His look is totally ruined even with plastic surgery to help. Cant help, the fire burned his all body and left scars everywhere. Scars are big and deep enough that even powder cant cover.

    Out of all places, why mainland China? Why the HK surgeons refused to examine her? Whatever anyone says, i know that she’s not natural. The more she tries to prove it, the more it shows how insecure she is. HXM said that he’s not an idiot. In fact, he is cuz cant even tell the difference or perhaps tries to fool himself to convince that he married a ‘beauty’.

      This is slander and the justice system we are talking about. Why China? Because the lawsuit happened in China, simple as that. If she really went under the knife I dint think she’ll be confident enough to file a lawsuit AND let her face be examined. You think she bribed the surgeon? The whole Chinese legal system? Think about it, the company she is suing probably has more money than her anyways. She is not stupid, if she did get extensive work done this will not end well for her.

      It personally looks to me that she’s got fillers and maybe botox done. Of course dental work changes a lot too. So technically no surgery but not entirely natural either.

        The justice system in China is a joke! Lol if you know anything about China, you should start questioning anything they claim that’s ‘real’. There is a huge debate about this news on Weibo and the majority of the users don’t believe a word from angelababy or the doctor either. Keep in mind that majority of these users are living in China, they know firsthand exactly how things work there.

However, the worst thing is she’s insisting and keeps saying that she is 100% natural. There’s nothing wrong of having PS. In fact, if it makes a person feel great and confident about his/herself. I would say go for it. What I hate the most is that person keeps lying through his/her teeth by saying that he/she is completely natural. Come on! we’re not fool. We can tell the difference.

        I absolutely positively believe that she experimented with fillers and botox however- these things wear out so perhaps that’s her loophole so she can say she’s 100% natural (however I don’t remember her ever saying that).

        Look at the pic above, her makeupless eyelids are uneven, her nose looks natural and her lips are as big as in those horrible pictures of her that keeps floating around (with terrible bangs, make up and braces). There are more proof that says she DIDN’T have it done but no one likes to acknowledge them because it doesn’t fit in their preconceived notion about her:

        @peanutbutterjelly Well, I remember reading somewhere that she said she is natural. Also, she never admits of having PS nor fillers or botox. She even takes it to the next level of get facial examination which I think stupid and unnecessary. What she has done was just to show that she is natural, wasn’t it? I won’t blame you for being protective of her because that’s what fans do for their idol. So, just chill!

        She won’t comment to this because she wouldn’t be able to find any reply that would support her belief/insistence (that AB has surgery).

        I’m glad that you posts these pictures of AB. At least, provide people with alternate evidence. But, you would be lucky to get one person here to consider maybe his/her perception of AB might be wrong. People see what they want to see. When a person already make up his/her mignd, he/she will only see the fact/evidence that support his/her belief and ignore those that don’t. Plus, to admit they might be mistaken during a debate/argument would be to admit defeat. Even if the pictures do the rise some doubt, these people who has been saying loudly that AB has PS , the test is fake, etc won’t admit it.

        @kidd She looks kinda same. Growing up, make up and all change a little. She obviously fixed her teeth and her nose is slight different. eyes could be make up. Chin slightly different. Could be part of growing up.

        Well then how are you so sure that AB did not have any plastic surgery? I think she did her whole face. Her nose has a higher bridge then if did before. Her face is longer and sharper too. Time will tell when everything wears out. I still remember that scary photo of Carol Cheng( who had a lot of plastic surgery) that freaked everyone out. Her face looked like a pile of burned plastic and I can imagine AB looking like that down the road along with all of those liars that still continue to lie about having PS.

Check it out and you will find the answer to ‘how are you so sure that AB did not have any plastic surgery?’ instead of being fix on your opinion of AB did her whole face without looking at other people’s reason for thinking otherwise.

        Dude, I looked at many of her photos and I can see that she did get stuff done. But of course, you or anyone can think what you like. I personally do not care if she did or not,but just hate it when people lie even when it is sooo obvious. If you have the courage to do something why not admit it? If you are so ashamed of getting plastic surgery,injections,etc… then why do it and then lie about it? I find that sad. But whatever because time will tell if she is natural or is lying or not.

        @hetieshou I have backed up my claims countless of times with pictures to proof but I will put my thoughts and analysis for you out here again:

        I definitely think she had fillers and botox (chin and jaw) done. But I do believe that the photo above is her ‘natural face’ (except for the fixed overbite) in the sense that she probably waited till the fillers have worn out because her chin looks a lot smaller there and resembles her childhood pics.

        Case in point, this is a screenshot from a video from when she was still wearing braces as a teenager:

        You can’t do a ‘pig nose’ after rhinoplasty.

        However, you think her nose looks different. I personally don’t see it but let’s give you the benefit of the doubt and say she did files on them. That is still NOT plastic SURGERY.

        You can still think whatever you want of course but going around saying how she ‘did her whole face’ while so many proof points to the contrary seems a bit tacky and bitter of you ask me.

Current young stars only as I find people tend to put older stars in the 80s/90s at a totally different level, while we must remember that nowadays everything is so much higher-definition than last time, when even a slightly lower-definition can blur out/ not put focus on/ distract from flaws.. it’s pretty sad for the stars today..

Same eye shape, that same V-shape face. too much similarities that NO ONE stands out, literally. the 80s/90s stood out more in my opinion because of individuality and doesnt always have the same eye shape like Fan Bing Bing or the infamous V-shape face that the stars nowadays all seem to have.

        @akinu while i do agree with you that there were quite a number of stunning actresses in the 80s/90s, still believe that the normal definition tv last time played a huge part – maybe if these “plastic-surgery” stars appeared on the tv of the past, they will look better too as their eye shape/ face shape would not be under that much scrutiny from our eyes. And vice versa, if the stars from the past (when they were young) appeared on our high definition TVs instead, and we are able to clearly see their faces from all angles, maybe we will realise that they aren’t as stunning as they are in our heads after all…

        I mean, look at Angelababy, in some of her older movies when she first debuted, she looks quite pretty, but in others (her newer shows), she just looks really ‘meh’… Or maybe her looks have degraded hahaha

        @chocolate honestly, i dont think tv definition really plays a factor. ur stunning if ur stunning. but i think what plays is pictures vs. motion. got to admit, some people look horrendous in pictures but are stunning in person and vice-versa. in my opinion, ABB is not stunning in neither. she’s not “ugly” but she’s definitely not stunning. if i had to rate her beauty, i’ll definitely categorize her leaning towards the cutesy side (but definitely dont think she’s all cutesy either)

    Sorry but any kind of deliberate aesthetic changes are still not that honorable. Maybe not extreme measures like going under the knife, but…it’s still an unnecessary & unnatural procedure.

    Everything about the whole procedure is fake. She picked a plastic surgery clinic, one just like thousands sprouting up all over China. Why didn’t she go to a medical center, or a hospital affiliated with a medical college?
    And that picture with her sitting in front of the CAT scan!! Oh please, if she was actually having x rays taken, she would have been in a hospital gown, not with a big jacket on !! It just goes to show all those photos are posed, fake.
    It doesn’t fool anyone with a bit of medical knowledge.
    I had braces for years and I can guarantee it doesn’t change the shape of your chin.
    Fan Bing Bing also has lots of PS done. Just look at all those photos of Korean Plastic clinics ads, they all look the same, sharp straight nose, V line face contouring, fillers.
    If you look at Jay Chou’s wife and Karena Ng, they all look like they had the same procedures.

        My argument here is those pictures were broadcasted by Angelababy, so they might be photoshoped in advance, that “bright, sharp, flawless” is just a supportive element. So, if you want to argue, you must break my argument and give your reasons how those pictures couldn’t be photoshoped, don’t go around, around.

        I can tell you in these pics, her chin looks different from her chin now.

        The X-ray from this doctor shows her face bone. Talking about X-ray, it only shows bone, it will not show implant, soft tissue. Talking about cosmetic done on face bone, it only consists of cutting the edge. So, if the face bone was already cut previously, now taking X-ray, this X-ray just shows current face bone, how to know the face bone now is natural or not natural, no way, we can only compare if we have her face bone before. Therefore I think if using X-ray to prove any cosmetic surgery ppl are natural, gets 100% ppl are natural.
        The doctor checks (moving her nose, forehead, etc) are physical checks, which aims to check physical functioning only, this can discover implant part, but the suspicious part, the chin, the doctor didn’t check ???
        The lawsuit actually only consists of “chin”, she only needs to let her chin checked, why go around, around to check other things, make ppl confused.
        She gets her face checked, this doesn’t mean she will win, the other party can appeal
        To check her chin, maybe 3D color ultrasound scan is better than X-ray
        To check fillers, must inject & suck some tissue on suspicious places

        I think she got implant on chin and filler on chin too, I’ve seen pics when she had big smile in Running Man, the shape of implant is so prominent. The filler is to make it look natural, but every time doing injection the shape is different, that explains why the shape of her chin is changing continuously. I also think the above pics the filler is wear off, that’s why her chin looks shorter, but still longer than younger day, the implant is still there. Other part gets filler is the nose. Other part I not studied yet. I also think she waited till the filler wear off to go to get doctor’s check. This is just my opinion, not to argue with you

        @cuckoo I’m more inclined to believe it’s just fillers because it seems very ‘unstable’ and doesn’t look like a good chin job to me. And the fact that it’s wearing off. Having a chin job + fillers is possible but seems inefficient. Of course your opinion is also valid because the ever changing chin is pretty indisputable.

    i really love angelababy and i feel that the reasons why so many people are still in disbelief that the report came out all clear for her is one she didn’t just go from avg/above average looking to pretty but she went from avg/above avg to goddess level (to many ppl) and two cos of the existence of her past unglam photos which is a stark contrast to her present look..

    actually i have seen some less unglam photos of her and i feel that some of her features were alr there..like the top half of her face looks somewhat the same..its only the bottom half that is rather controversial and after looking at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5XM_j4zUtU i have made some guesses wrt the ps-free report (if i didnt interpret wrongly)

    first is that the criteria for ps was based on presence of implants or scars that could have resulted from incisions and thus ab might have used fillers for minor enhancements which prob cant be detected and even so might not be considered as plastic plastic surgery to angelababy thus the denial.

    second, seeing the white line observed at the gum line detected under x ray which the doctor attributed to her teeth correction… it reminds me of this article i read before – http://www.cuh.org.uk/addenbrookes-hospital/services/oral-and-maxillofacial-surgery-and-orthodontics/orthognathic-surgery thus i guess that the white line might be due to teeth and/or jaw correction surgery while on braces which prob might explain the significant change after she wore braces. since its technically not called plastic surgery she is kinda right to say she has not done ps

    thirdly is that the most controversial part of her face is her chin but looking at the video…it seems like the doc pressed everywhere except the chin…this could be either the reporter is damn lousy to not film the doc pressing her chin or sth else…if you know what i mean. other than that she could have also done surgery through the mouth and thus the intraoral incisions would prob leave no visible scars.

    thus all that said…i believe that ab is not the kind you see on those drastic ps shows where the entire face change cos i have seen ab up close in real life (even hugged her) and she doesnt look plastic irl…she might have done minor enhancements but prob nth major…so im kinda leaning towards my second guess…omg i just realised i typed such a long post lols!!

    @abcdefghi , there is NO WAY that Fan Bing Bing was 13 and 15 years old in those photos. 20 years ago?? NO WAY. Full makeup at 13 and 15? She is 34 years old now and those photos look like she was in her 20’s.
    I believe all photos released by actors/actresses have all been photoshopped.
    My cousin tutored Gong Li in English and said her skin and teeth looked terrible.

    If someone insisted that they didn’t do surgery and stood this firm about it then we should just give that person a chance. Put ourself in their shoes when there are time that we are being accused of something we didn’t do and get framed – how do you guys really feel when that happened to yourself?

    When she hired a dr to witness of no surgery – you guys will say she paid the dr to lie. If she doesn’t take this step – you guys will say definitely she had surgery done otherwise why didn’t she hire a dr for evidence … lol

    For those that said she paid the dr to lie – this is dealing with court – when it comes down to it – the court may have their own dr to step in as well.

    Not sure how people have so much time to analyst other peoples lives.

    I think she has Botox and/or fillers but didn’t undergo major surgeries. I went through an ugly phase from 13-20yo and once I got braces, lost some weight, and learned to wear makeup, I looked better. My current photo compared to my high school and early college years are completely different and I definitely didn’t have plastic surgeries.

    I’m not a fan of ABB and only know about her from reading this website but most people on here are so mean to her. Some people go through transformations naturally? Haven’t you met any old school friends that just surprised you down the road? One of my high school friends was average looking then she became a beauty queen after years of working out and learning to dress better and wear makeup.

    I think Angelababy should either just stay silent or step up to the plate and admit that she got work done instead of lying and then lying again to cover up the previous lies. Some artists have already admitted to it so what more is there to hide? I also think she is being foolish and wasting her time with bribing the doctor to prove she is plastic free. Why not put your time and money into doing something more productive? Time will tell when her face falls apart if she did get PS.

      You look at her and you know it’s NOT natural and no amount of growing up like someone claims will make you changed PRETTIER? by madeup and knows what to wear? LOL…really? The free structures and everything changed??? really?
      I have NO PROBLEM w/ppl having plastic surgeries either I mean look at the Koreans, even my Korean friends themselves admit normal ppl like those plastic surgeries let alone celebs??? What’s the big deal? Admit it you know??? Sigh…these ppl…n that one on WLC and Leanne – don’t even know why they response to that one, sounds crazy and dysfunctional..LOL…

        You were the one who replied first to @vell because you couldn’t stand that @vell believes AB and must proclaim how fake you think her face is. If you yourself believe AB did have surgery. Fine. But if you want to broadcast your thoughts to everyone, better be prepared to digest counterarguments and evidence too. Don’t just ignore the people who don’t agree with you and make some passive agressive argument comparing us to a comment troll out of nowhere. That is a very low blow.

        PS: Growing up, makeup and styling can’t make someone become prettier?
