Nancy Wu Bosses Ruco Chan Around in “A Fist Within Four Walls”

TVB’s highly anticipated martial arts drama A Fist Within Four Walls <城寨英雄> will be premiering on August 1, 2016. The 28-episode series, helmed by Jazz Boon (文偉鴻), stars Ruco Chan (陳展鵬), TV Queen Nancy Wu (胡定欣), Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), Yuen Qiu (元秋), and Philip Ng (伍允龍) as kung fu heroes living in the triad-ridden Kowloon Walled City during 1950’s Hong Kong.

A Fist Within Four Walls is Nancy’s first collaboration with Ruco and Benjamin. The TV Queen portrays Tiu Lan, the bossy owner of a hair salon who hides her identity as a highly-skilled martial artist. As a lady boss, she is stingy, cowardly and enjoys giving Chor Au-kuen (portrayed by Ruco) a hard time. She also has a shameless crush on the handsome and heroic Duen Ying-fung (portrayed by Benjamin), who is not only an educated dentist, but also a very skilled Bajiquan master.

“We definitely had sparks,” said Nancy when she was asked about her team-up with Ruco and Benjamin. “It was our first time having so many scenes together. Ruco is a very good partner. We had a great time.”

Tiu Lan first meets Chor Au-kuen and Duen Ying-fung at her hair salon. Both of them had come from the outside world and needed a place to stay in the walled city.

“There’s definitely a bias going on,” Nancy said with a laugh. “Ruco is my debtor. I don’t treat him very well and I’m always yelling at him. We bicker! Benjamin Yuen on the other hand… well, he’s a handsome guy! And he’s a dentist! All my feminine qualities gets released!”

But why does Nancy end up choosing Ruco in the end? She said, “It’s like our drama’s ending song, ‘Never Knew You Were the Best’ <從未知道你最好>. We went through a lot together, and the lyrics describe our story. Memories of my character immediately flooded back into my head when I recorded that song with Ruco. It’s a great finishing touch for the character.”

As introduced by Jazz Boon, A Fist Within Four Walls is action throughout, and most of the characters on the show have their own fight scenes. The cast members went through two months of martial arts training before production began.

“This is actually my third time training martial arts for a role,” shared Nancy. “Maybe it’s because I’m a dancer, so I tend to get casted in action-packed roles. I learned Muay Thai [for Gloves Come Off <拳王>] and this time, I’m learning a different style of kung fu. It’s a lot more flashy.” (But will you be able to show off your feminine qualities?) “I think my period costume look is okay. Once I step into the set I feel like I’m a barbie in a barbie house.”

You start to sound like that freedala fellow who keeps stressing how short that wong cho lam getting to that tall pretty wifey? lol…. Chill it…it’s ok. We all have our likes and dislikes but we let it go. I find Moses Chan hard to watch in any series but do I go on and on? haha lol… Next!!! Peace!!!

      2. @happybi wow! Did you read what he/she just wrote? So much hatred over someone he/she doesn’t even know personally that it’s scary. There are some really sick persons out there. This cut and paste style repeating the same comment to various posters seems really familiar. I’m guessing it’s someone we know who spams here frequently. I bet he/she is going to spam me next. So I’m going to pre-empt that by telling him/her : take a chill pill buddy! Come back when you have something new to say!

      3. @isay Yes I did.. Crazy I know. That’s why I’m back to ignoring as it was my bad for even asking in the beginning!

      4. @isay @kiki @happybi This guy has no passion for acting, he only get into the entertainment industry for the fame, fortune and high status life. He is just a money hungry, pathetic fame seeker, all he try to do is to make a name for himself and achieve fame, wealth, glory and social status. There’s no doubt he would’ve quitted acting long ago,If TVB had never promoted him.

      5. @isay I’m sure he is very addicted to the money, fame and attention the entertainment industry brings him. This fame seeker is obviously only staying in the show business for the fame, fortune and high social status. There’s no doubt he would’ve quitted acting long ago,If he haven’t achieved stardom in the acting industry.

I really wonder how many times this comment is going to get repeated. So i guess a few more times won’t hurt. Bring it on!

      7. @isay @happybi @kiki I remember in an interview he once said there’s never enough money. Although it’s important to film dramas, but it always dominates over opportunities for concert performances. Really? He earns a million dollars per year and that is still not enough money for him support himself? Fame and wealth really is clouding his mind. I really wonder how much money is considered enough for him to satisfy his greedy desires? The society must be crazy to pay these celebrities such a high salary. We should stop worshipping them and lining their pockets with millions for nothing.

I guess no matter how much fame and money he have,he will still want more. A greedy person like him will never be satisfied despite having everything. These pathetic, money grubbing fame seeker is probably going to spend his entire life chasing after fame, fortune and high status life.

      8. @killer get real dude Don’t be bitter..Since when is money ever enough? No one says no to more money. Anyways he has said in many interviews that money isn’t the be all and end all for him. If he only makes hkd1 million per year that is pittance. Dont envy him, envy those who rake in the mega bucks. You got the wrong target.

  4. Ruco said He’s not given enough time to train up his body. He had a harsh time in both filming, physical training and kung fu fighting. Personally don’t like chocolate. What I enjoy is his acting and his collaboration with Nancy-fresh and compatible couple.

    1. @66ksc ruco’s acting is always up to par. His physique in this drama looks fine to me. Body is not too beefy like body builders but is nevertheless muscular. The fight scenes were great. Oh and I think someone is going to spam me/us again.

      1. @isay the first episode is not bad for an actor who has no background in martial arts. I feel credit should be given to Ruco. Yes, the body is fine, not those big muscles like body builder. nice toned arms and flat tummy with that moustache…very sexy.

  5. This actually looks funny. Nancy and Ruco match, maybe they should date in real life.
