“Line Walker 2” Begins Shooting in October

After a sequel comes an origin story.

At the 2016 China International Film and TV Programs Exhibition held in Beijing yesterday, TVB and Tencent’s Penguin Pictures jointly announced that their upcoming big project, Line Walker 2 <使徒行者>, will officially begin principal photography this October. Line Walker 2 is a prequel to the original drama, which was released back in 2014.

The prequel aims to tie the loose ends left by the ending of the original series.

Co-headlining the prequel will be new cast members Jessica Hsuan (宣萱), Moses Chan (陳豪), Benjamin Yuen (袁偉豪), Pakho Chau (周柏豪), and Priscilla Wong (黃翠如). Moses and Benjamin will be playing triad bosses.

Original Line Walker stars Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) and Raymond Lam (林峯), however, will not be returning for the prequel.

The original Line Walker, produced by Jazz Boon (文偉鴻), became a television sensation when it was released in Hong Kong in 2014. It was the highest-rated drama of the year, the most popular drama of the year, and broke viewership ratings in China when it was made available for stream on Youku. The drama also spawned a successful film sequel, starring veteran actors Nick Cheung (張家輝), Louis Koo (古天樂), and Francis Ng (吳鎮宇).

Line Walker 2 is slated for 30 episodes, and will first premiere on Tencent’s QQ platform in June 2017 before hitting Hong Kong television screens later on in the year.

  1. Excited for this, although I don’t know if Benjamin Yeun can pull off a convincing triad boss. Have never been a fan of his acting, relatively wooden. But can’t wait to see Pakho Chau.

  2. Reminds me of Young and Dangerous. First came the original, then sequel, back to prequel and many spinoffs. Hope TVB will end it here.

  3. I feel like tvb is milking line walker exactly like when they did EU and Laughing Gor became so popular he had his own series and a movie

  4. I thought the movie would be classed as the sequel to Line Walker so I’m surprised but happy to see a series 2 of Line Walker, I really enjoyed the first series.
Benjamin is starting to get more noticed this past year, good for him, he is a great actor! and I like the new edition to the cast, kinda sad Charmaine isn’t in it this time round, I really liked her in the first series.
Also did anyone else notice the undercover from EU超時任務 is also in this trailer? I wonder if it’s a crossover thing between the two shows!
Ahhh I’m so excited for this!

    1. @melodylai The trailer isn’t actually a trailer, but more like a pitch/teaser to convey the genre. Most of the clips used were scenes in previous tv dramas.

  5. A little bit disappointed seeing Benjamin Yuen is included but no Vincent Wong Ho Sun..

  6. Pakho Chau has already sold the drama to me. I don’t care if it’s overrated and/or TVB has milked this franchise dry. I want Pakho!

    1. @linvin8
Who is Pakho? Is her very popular? I have never seem him in dramas. Looks like refreshing face, is that why ppl want to see it? haah lol…. I am tired of seeing the same actresses/actors too in TVB. They really need new blood.

      1. @went Pakho Chau is quite a famous singer in HK. He has also acted in a few movies. This would be his first TV series (in which he plays a regular character) so thats why I’m quite excited!

      2. @linvin8
ohhhh…I see. I goggled him a bit. haha… I hardly watch HK or mainland movies so no wonder.. I was like never seem that face. It’s good then I mean at least some new faces on TV I/o of the same old faces again and again.

  7. as long as 3 哥 is in it, I’ll watch it. He’s one of the few male TVB actors left that can carry a drama. He should have been in the movie too, but at least it saved his character from the pointlessness of Francis’ storyline. Not excited for Jessica, but Priscilla is a good get.

  8. A prequel sounds good if they get the script right….

Not too sure about Priscilla Wong but Jessica yeah….

Benjamin Yuen not sure about him stiil..his acting is still wooden he is like Ron Ng version 2…..

Good to see back Michael Mui back..

  9. it will aired within a year, sure kinda in a rush for a grand production… hope they’ll all get enough sleep otherwise they won’t return to tvb anymore =P

    1. @vodka TVB and Tencent have already long agreed to collaborate, but just have not announce it yet. Script, pre-pro and casting of these 2 dramas are done so that they can announce their collaboration together with the dramas to create hype and attention. Common thing to do when big companies collaborate. Keep it a secret, and only announce when big stuffs are done and ready.

  10. Looks good I like Michael, Jessica & Foon Hei Gor. Thank god no teh pau Charmaine.

  11. Not liking TVB milking line walker story but i do look forward to see Jessica, Michael , Priscilla and Pakho.

  12. Is this being co-produced by Jazz Boon? I’m boycotting his stuff until he proves he can write a cohesive and logical ending. His dissatisfying conclusion to both Line Walker 1 and AFWFW has convinced me that he can only knows how to create tight introductory story-line but fails to provide oversight for the ends. In other words, he doesn’t give a $h!t for his dramas. He only cares about raking in the audience in the beginning.
