Linda Chung (鐘嘉欣) is ready to come back! The new mom, who gave birth to baby Kelly this past August, announced on Weibo this week that she will be returning to Hong Kong at the end of the year.

The 32-year-old, whose last Weibo update was on August 27, dropped a surprising message on September 30 to announce plans of her HK comeback. Linda is currently residing in her hometown Vancouver, with her family.

Linda shared two pictures of Kelly’s baby gifts on Weibo, and wrote, “Kelly is really blissful, having that she’s received so many gifts. Thank you to the sponsors who sent these gifts to us from afar. So thoughtful of you! Thank you to all of you who have supported and loved my daughter all this time. I will be returning to Hong Kong at the end of the year. See you then! Looking forward to it!”

      1. @respectme

But the more I look at the baby, the more she looks like Philip. And when the baby grows, the resemblance to Philip will even be more apparent. Poor Linda, she will have a hard time warding off the suspicion then.

  1. I don’t mind Linda. Actually like her. Will be interesting to see what role she will take when she go back to tvb.

  2. Finaly she is back.

Missing her to pull the womencar. Nancy is doing all bij herself.

Maybe she come back for HOG 3!! Unfirtunate Raymond is not anymore. But we still have Rucco. Or maybe Steven Ma has some time to play her lover in dramas 🙂

  3. Yes! I like her, a very refined, respectable person! Acting is a skill that can be learned and acquired, but character and integrity are in-born and come from within. Good to see her back, hopefully she’ll be able to do some TVB series.

  4. Yes, i don’t mind if Linda is back to the small screen too. So that at least it is not dominated by Nancy or Ali Lee…and we don’t have to suffer watching raw acting from newbies (eg. Grace Chan).

  5. not a linda fan but glad she is coming back. more lead actress choice is a benefit to viewers.

  6. Linda is not great but not that bad too. I like her in Limelight Years and K9 Cop. And she is more more compatible with Ruco than Nancy, at least looks wise.

    1. @arc78 she’s pretty good for the roles she was assigned. I’m sure she could have done other roles if assigned to her. For sure she’s very pretty and genuinely kind and humble.I think thats why some people don’t like her, jealousy maybe?

      1. @jokercanadian I’m sorry, I just hv to comment on Linda being “genuine”. From my observations of her at interviews, i get the feeling that her sweetness is saccharine. It’s all part of the sweety pie image she skilfully crafted which went down the drain when she got preggo out of wedlock and her PR people had to quickly spin her “love at first sight” story to fool us and to protect her image. Her voice when she speaks is unnaturally cutesy and she’s a terrible actress and singer (only good in crying scenes). Used to like her when we all thought Ruco and her made a sweet onscreen couple, even wishing them to be a real couple and tolerated her bad acting and singing so I really have nothing against her. Just wanted to comment cos I don’t think she’s genuine at all. Showbiz people are mostly fake if i may add. In public eyes and away they are totally different personalities. That’s why they are actors ( gender neutral).

      2. @isay i just wanted to say something about Linda. I have never met her but I know some ppl in HK that have worked with her before and they all actually have nothing but nice thing to say about her. They actually said in person she is very dorky and kind of an introvert but she is always kind to people. Yes her image may be created by tvb but I do find her to be a genuine person.

I actually heard really bad things about some people who I always thought were friendly ppl on screen. Boy was i shocked but its nice to know some people are nice when the camera is not rolling.

      3. @isay Hahahha that is ok. Just wanted to put down what I heard about Linda. Liked I said before though that I’ve never met her so can’t confirm what I heard is real or not but I do always like her.

      4. @isay I don’t think she speaks In a cutsey way at all. But I know that there was at least one prank played on her where she was telephoned and asked by Raymond Lam if she would dress up as a nurse (one of her TV characters) to visit the sick grandmother of Raymond’s friend. And she agreed to it with no hesitance at all. There were other examples as well. That prank was done by a HK radio station.

      5. @isay you’ll have to listen to the clip to really appreciate it! They got her to talk to the “grandmother” acted by one of the radio personalities. They were all impressed as was I. Like I said, there were other examples too.

      6. @happybi I believe she is genuinely nice too. You can’t hide it too long if you are not genuine. It’s very hard to have to bite your tongue. Celebrities are always under the microscope. Like I’ve said before, those interviews and clips of these celebrities’ interactions with others reveal much about their character and personality.

      7. @isay I don’t think she ever said that she would not give up her virginity before marriage. I have heard Grace Wong saying it, but none of the other amazing Esther’s have stated it. To help put things in perspective, she only revealed her marriage after the news was leaked in late Feb. She then formally announced that the wedding took place at end of 2015 which could be November or December, or even October for that matter. If she intended to hide anything, she could have said that she was married in the summer if 2015 instead? Further, the baby was born a Leo (end of July – August 25), it’s very possible that she was conceived after the wedding, even if the wedding took place in December, based on the formula used to calculate a pregnant woman’s due date.

      8. @jokercanadian pretty sure her virgin gang all abide by this no premarital sex stance whether they explicitly said it (like Grace wong) or not. She broke up with philip around early 2015. Her baby was obviously conceived not long after she met Jeremy so the likelihood of her getting knocked up and then hurriedly getting married is very high. Her wedding did look very hurriedly put together. Not judging her by whether she had premarital sex cos that’s her choice but just don’t take the public for idiots.

      9. @isay she’s one person who has consistently kept her personal affairs private. I think people have either not noticed that or just forgotten about it. I see this side of her and thus respect and support her. No one is perfect but she’s a bit closer to it than many of us.

      10. @isay her wedding and baby was super fast.., she was supposedly heartbroken after the break up with Philip…suddenly she got married and claimed he is Mr Right and during the wedding, she already said ‘don’t want to jinx’ several times. the picture of the baby looks a few months old. she wants to return to acting?

  7. Love is funny like that, I’m sure you know well too! It happens! Very often when you least expect it, and often on a rebound!
The baby does not look s few months old. Believe me my babies both looked months old at birth. They were both c-sections and had to be incubated and many people at the hospital were wondering out loud why they were being incubated, so mature looking already. That was a long time ago. Lol, There are other nice artists too, like Myilie and Charmaine Seh. I’ve never heard the say or gesture anything unkind to or about anyone!

  8. I also wanted to say that if she wanted to lie, she could have said that she was married well before end of 2015 and not end of 2015? That’s what sold me on her not intending to hide anything just being private. Remember her relationship with PN was always a conjecture and has only just now been confirmed by Phil.

  9. I’m really curious why she’s returning to HK. Is she back to work? If so, who’s looking after her baby? Isn’t it weird that she can bear to leave her few months’ old baby and newly wed hubby in Canada and return to work in HK? Look at Aimee, totally devoted to her family. A child that young needs her mother to look after her, not a nanny, especially since they’re not short of money that Linda has to return to work so soon after giving birth.

    1. @isay how do you know she’s not coming back with her baby and husband or that she’s going to stay for a few months? (Have I missed an announcement somewhere?). There are many celebrities who prefer to personally care for their children these days! Take princess Kate, Angelina Jolie, Aimee Chan, etc. I think the new generation of celebrities are wonderful parents! They likely all have domestic help, including Linda but prob are all very hands on when it comes to the personal care of their children. We should not be making any assumptions unless the facts have been stated by the parties involved.

      1. @jokercanadian well in case you didn’t notice, i was asking questions not making statements. I asked if she was coming back to work and if she was then it would be reasonable to assume that it would be fairly long term, hence I followed up with other questions and that returning to work comment. Yes I totally approve of parents taking care of their own kids too that’s why i asked those questions.

      2. @isay there are always at least 2 camps on each 八卦 news! Yay I’m so proud of myself! First time successfully using Chinese input. I hope I got it right! And my name is Nancy Wu. I am the best! (A tad conceited, I might say)?! Just wanted to liven up the forum a little!

    2. @isay if she is coming back for a visit, that’s no big deal…but acting would be a different story since her hubby has his own practice and it would be difficult to be away for a few months.

      1. @janet72 not at all. My son is an Optometrist and has his own practice. He has associates who will cover for him while he travels with his wife for months. I know Linda’s husband’s clinic has associate doctors as well. So it’s not a big deal to reassign the patients to an associate or he can even close the clinic as he’s self employed, The patients can be referred to another in case of emergency. But I have not heard what her plans are. I’m pretty sure she’d get help (a nanny maybe) unless she’s only coming for a short time. But it would be hard to leave a baby for a day, let alone days or months. It’s much easier with skype and all the other technology these days, much harder in my days as a young mother going on business trips!

  10. Linda has to come back to HK because Philip Ng wants to see his daughter. He may not want to marry Linda but any parent would yearn to see. cuddle and play with his or her child. This is human instinct, in fact animals too has such an instinct.

But credit to Linda’s “eat dead cat” husband for being so understanding. I guess he must really be a very nice guy, else he would not have been so willing to “eat the dead cat”. It’s good to know that there are still such nice guys around. Linda is lucky to have him.

      1. @jimmyszeto

Yes, I believe he considers himself very lucky to marry Linda so much so that he does not mind the “eat dead cat” label.

      2. @creditor
I don’t think he has been labelled ‘eat dead car’ by anyone about from you. I think the label for her husband should be ‘pick up dead chicken’.

      3. @creditor im not a native speaker of Canto. Pl explain difference. I know “eat dead cat” means to take the fall. What is “pick up dead chicken”? TIA.

      4. @isay “eat dead cat” is as you correctly put it is “to take the fall for someone else’s doing”. In this case, Jeremy took the fall for Philip, who is the one who had been bonking Linda and make her pregnant. And Jeremy is left carrying the baby as an English saying goes, though he doesn’t seem to mind, out of his love for Linda.

“Pick up dead chicken”on the other hand means “picking up whatever leftovers unwanted by another person who had the first choice”. In the case, Linda is a dead chicken since she has been used and abandoned by Philip once she became pregnant and Jeremy went to pick her up (and the baby as well).

“Wearing some one else’s old shoes” is another term people might use but it’s not so appropriate here as there is a baby involved. “pick up dead chicken” as coined by @jimmyszeto is the most suitable label for Jeremy.

      5. @creditor @isay
When I used the Cantonese phrase which can be translated to ‘pick up dead chicken’ I meant it in the terms that Jeremy luckily picked up a wife after Linda split from Philip. If Linda didn’t have this break up and was emotionally weak, there it was impossible for Jeremy to have this gift of an opportunity. The phrase does not intend to include the child at all.

    1. @creditor This is an outrageous comment. The best we can speculate is that Linda had a shotgun wedding, which is most likely. Anything beyond that is highly inappropriate.

And really, shotgun weddings these days are common, entertainment industry or not. Some people are upfront about it and find no need to hide, others aren’t, e.g. possibly Linda.

      1. @dandan

Shotgun weddings happen the vast majority of the time for a reason. These reasons could be-
        1. Pregnancy
        2. One Or both are on the rebound, are wounded and haven’t fully recovered from previous relationship yet
        3. One of the two, usually the female is getting old in marriage terms and want to complete marriage quicker than the usual.

It’s very rare that a couple will marry quickly after ‘love at first sight’, when there’s no rush and opportunity to know each other better.

      2. @jimmyszeto That’s correct, you laid them out very clearly. But I would add one more reason though – that the pregnancy is not caused by the husband. So the bride has to find a willing scapegoat and as another forumer here put it, Linda has “kow kow kei kei” marry herself off.

As @dandan pointed out, what’s the bid deal in shotgun weddings? It’s so common place nowadays, and there is no need to have one all shrouded in secrecy. The only explanation is because the pregnancy “cannot see light”. Pity that Linda found herself in such situation. Philip is a real jerk.
