Leaving TVB, Bosco Wong to Sign with Shaw Brothers

Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) has confirmed that he will not be renewing his TVB contract once it expires this year, ending his 17-year relationship with the Hong Kong broadcaster.

Rumors of Bosco leaving his mother station have been circulating around since last year, but Bosco never bothered to clarify them, explaining that his contract is a “trade secret.”

But with Bosco’s current TVB drama Two Steps from Heaven <幕後玩家> nearing its series finale, Bosco has decided that it is finally time to share his future plans for his career.

heart and greed calendar posterA magazine reported today that Bosco has admitted to leaving TVB this year. He reportedly said he intends to sign with Shaw Brothers, TVB’s sister company, after his current management contract expires in late December.

Bosco said TVB is his mother station, and was the first company to offer him a job. He wants to maintain his good relationship with TVB, but also does not want to be tied down to a certain career path. Although no longer agency and artist, Bosco said he will continue to film TVB dramas in the future.

In 2017, Bosco will start shooting TVB’s 50th anniversary drama Heart and Greed <溏心風暴3>. He will then start shooting Shaw Brothers’ web drama, SDU: Final Battle <飛虎極戰>.

  2. 17years with tvb wow he is quite loyal to tvb started with a very young age. Sad he is leaving. Bosco was outstanding for Shelton’s character is a tough competing with the other artists too.

    1. @lucida bosco’s role as sheldon is very outstanding. since he is leaving TVB, Ruco has one competitor less. I am worried Ruco will lose his best actor award to Bosco.

  3. So sad my fav is leaving TVB. On the other hand leaving mother station is good for him more freedom and more money.

  4. That is a sad new, less drama to watch. I do like bosco, very flexible actor, don’t like Kenneth ma as much.

  5. If given the right roles, Bosco has proven that he can really act. So much better than any of the present male leads. He would be missed. All the best to Bosco as he embarked on another career path. I am sure he will do well given his talents.

  6. I’m gonna miss him. He’s a versatile actor, both appearance and talent-wise. He’s definitely the strongest out of his batch (i.e. Raymond, Ron, Kenneth,etc). Hope good opportunities goes his way!
