On September 30th, Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) was declared the winner of the 2011 Sexiest Man Alive in Hong Kong Award after six weeks of heated online voting at JayneStars.com! After the airing of TVB series, The Other Truth <真相>, Ruco shot to stardom and won the audience’s hearts with his great acting and hunkiness!
In the 2011 Sexiest Man Alive in Hong Kong poll, Ruco garnered 3,517 votes, while 1st Runner-up Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) pulled 1,340 votes, and 2nd Runner-up Raymond Lam (林峰) won 1,268 votes. Congratulations to the men and many thanks to the worldwide fans who voted daily to support them!

In addition, Bosco’s dress style can be quite metrosexual, which I found the curly hair photo reflects his personal style.

The 50 contestants for the 2011 Sexiest Man Alive in Hong Kong Award are primarily actors who had a leading or supporting role in TVB series and Hong Kong films, as well as men who grabbed JayneStars’ headlines over the last year (thus the inclusion of Gregory Lee and Joel Chan who are not in the leading men status).
Foreigners such as Leehom, Jay Chou, HXM and Takeshi were added because they had notable films released in Hong Kong over the last year. The men may technically not live in HK, but have influential work released in HK.
Extension of male celebrities to Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, and beyond would stray from emphasis of Hong Kong celebrities on this site.
The wide range in contestants’ ages also appeals to the broad demographics of JayneStars readers. Uncles such as Simon Yam and Andy Lau still have legions of fans.
The poll included 50 men of different age, body types, personality, and varying levels of fame to have opptions for everyone. If we narrow the number of contenders, the broad appeal of current choices would be reduced. At the same time, expanding the number of contestants would divert the voting and perhaps encompass candidates who would receive zero votes.
Since voting has started, I will not amend the list of candidates. If there are particular men that you strongly believe should have been included in the poll, you can always e-mail me. Your suggestions will be taken for consideration for next year’s Sexiest Man Alive Award voting.

Bowie Lam when acting is sexy, or rather has sex appeal, outside he is like your uncle, and as much sex appeal as a pineapple. Ruco may take nude pictures, like Wong He did, and Wong He had a better body but sexy, no. Just because you’re drenched in water, wearing transparent clothing doesn’t make you sexy. But I suppose many fans may think so, for even Bobby or Wayne. For me sexy means you just dream naughty dreams of these guys. Personally, 70% of the men in the list makes me fall asleep.
Aaron Kwok is sexy though, but not in the rip off his clothes way. Maybe he is just forever so youthful, kinda like kid brother or a man who refuses to admit his age. But he looks great.

About, the criteria for the top 50, I explained it in detail in one of the comments thread. They have leading or supporting role in TVB or film roles over last year, or actors who grabbed JayneStars headlines this year. Tried to include sexy men of different ages to appeal to women of all ages.
Anya, there are HK film fans here too, although the discussions do seem to indicate that users watch more current TVB series. Don’t really want to limit candidates to TVB actors only.

I think Wong Hei looks good in the above photo, so will not be changing it. I tried to post good looking photos of all the candidates.
Ah K and others also noted that Bosco’s hair looks bad in photo. I chose it because he has a nice smile in the photo and the hair makes him look different, not in a bad way IMO.

No I never met him before. I meant in interviews, he was rather “feminine” as in you know Charmaine type, people say she is how to say in English? Malay is manja, cantonese is “teh”, not sure about English. But in Burning Flame II, he was burning hot. Hence I voted for him.
My impression about Alex onscreen was manly, quiet man, but after watching his video clips, and read news about him, I believe my impression about him was wrong. I remember from 2000 to 2004, he acted in many movies and Tvb drama with Yoyo, they were very close, have many news about them teasing, “fighting” each other, and Yoyo usually was a loser in their “fights”. Then I watched a clip of him teasing Ekin about his relationship with Yoyo, and that clip was really totally Change my mind about Alex. He laughed like a girl, and talk too much and lound just my feelings about him though, I maybe wrong 🙂

I chose the “good looking” photos to the best of my knowledge as to their recency, depicting the actor close to what he looks like today. Again, it is to the “best of my knowledge” so I did not in fact check to see whether they were from this year, last year, or two years ago. No photos were chosen maliciously to depict any candidates in a bad light. However, Funn suggested I show Wong Hei’s photos from Burning Flame I (which was from a decade ago), so that would be truly misleading.
I’ll rather we concentrate on the voting than speculating whether there is an unfair advantage for some candidates due to the pictures chosen. Aiyah, if I change one candidate’s photo because of his outfit, expression, hairstyle etc. in the photo, there will be additional photo change requests for the other candidates.
If you are intent on voting for a particular actor, you already decided what makes him sexy material in your opinion. This is not a “Best Photo” contest and the particular photo chosen should really not dissuade you from voting for him! 🙂 If that were the case, perhaps subconsciously you really found another man sexier!

Daniel Wu is yummy :P. He’s tall, has a pretty face and a nicely toned body. He also has displayed some independent, out of the box thinking and is quite smart from my POV.

No lar! It is subjective; you think sexy, then he is sexy! For me I just find No. 2 boring, so he can take all his clothes off but I am sure I will be asleep by then. No. 3 is undeniably TVB’s handsomest actor but handsomest need not mean sexy. No. 1 I am still thinking… everything I think maybe he is sexy I kept thinking of him crying with a kleenex. So not sexy.
But to answer your question;

Need not be. Some ugly men can still be sex God. Ask the rockers’ fans. Most rockers are darn ugly. Yet twirl of a finger and women throw underwear at them
2. Nice body (not necessarily ripped)
For me a criteria but you know, some may think a bit chubby is sexy
3. Charming or attractive personality
Need not be. This is not Miss Universe or Mr Congeniality sort of thing. To some, bad boys are sexy.
For me, sexy is simple; don’t talk looks, body, etc. Just ask yourself this very simple question; when you look at this guy, do you feel like tearing off his clothes and well, be wild with him? That is does he make you blush and feel you could be uninhibited with him? Look sexy need not end up with sex but if you don’t feel that way, then he is not sexy. He is just pretty, good looking, nice.
Kevin Cheng can take his clothes off however many times, I still find him not sexy. He is just a very handsome man.

I find Raymond’s deep voice to be quite sexy. Agree that while a guy built like a brick is nice, that doesn’t make him automatically hot. It’s the entire package, face, body, voice, etc. etc. I find a guy skilled in martial arts to be very sexy.

I am really hoping that close to year end, we can pick a “biggest news of the year” reported from Jaynestars(maybe choose from the top 25-30 most commented news of the year), or “most liked celebrity” or “most hated celebrity” of the year based on their news and scandals that year.
Maybe few months prior to the Miss Hong Kong Pageant’s 40th anniversary next year, we can have a poll for “My favorite Miss Hong Kong winner, 1st winner up, and 2nd runner up of all time” polls respectively, one for each month? That way, you don’t have to scratch your head to think of who you put on because the winners were already set in stone. Just some thoughts!
