Whitney Hui Replaces Dada Chan as Star of “Lan Kwai Fong 3”

TVB actress Whitney Hui (許亦妮) will now play the lead role in nightlife film Lan Kwai Fong 3 <喜愛夜蒲3> after its original star Dada Chan (陳靜) suddenly announced her retirement on August 9. To prepare for the film, director Wilson Chin (錢國偉) accompanied Whitney and other actresses Ava Liu (雨僑) and Barbie Liu (夏尉喻) for a stroll at the Lan Kwai Fong district yesterday night. The group attracted the attention of pedestrians; many stared as the three girls made their way down the steps in form-revealing summer outfits.

Although Dada Chan seemed happy when she attended the film’s blessing ceremony earlier this month, she made her surprise announcement on Weibo just two days later, citing mental health reasons. Wilson Chin became enraged by this turn of events. Within ten days, Wilson completely removed Dada’s character from the script and promoted Whitney from her initial guest role to leading lady status.

Some reports alleged that Wilson had always preferred Whitney but gave her only a guest role because Dada was more popular and would therefore be the bigger draw at the box office. Dada’s sudden retirement gave Wilson the perfect excuse to put the spotlight instead on Whitney and her more impressive 35D bust line.

Since Whitney is a TVB management artist as well as a former Miss Hong Kong second runner-up, TVB has strict guidelines in place to protect Whitney’s public image. Despite this, Wilson seems willing to make adjustments to secure Whitney as his star. When asked if Whitney will have any nude scenes in the film, Wilson said, “We are respectful of TVB’s wishes. We are still in negotiations. There will be limits to how sexy Whitney will be this time… There will be love but not much lust. Shiga Lin (連詩雅) didn’t participate in nude scenes either in the last installment!” Wilson added that Whitney will be paired up with Jason Chan Pak Yu (陳柏宇), and emphasized that the two will not have any overly explicit scenes in the movie.

TVB executive Virginia Lok (樂易玲) confirmed Whitney’s participation. When asked if Whitney is banned from participating in sexual scenes, Ms. Lok replied, “Lan Kwai Fong 3 is a Category IIB film. TVB is strict with our artists, but Director Chin promised me that he will make appropriate adjustments.”

Reporters reached out to Whitney as well regarding her starring role. Whitney expressed excitement about the film and is not too concerned about its sexual themes. “I am aware of the plot. I do have a bottom line when it comes to sexiness but Director Chin promised that everything will be tasteful.” When reporters commented that she was given this promotion only because Dada backed out of her role, Whitney said, “Don’t phrase it like that. I was only given more scenes, and there were changes to the plot. I am not really replacing her!”

  1. All I remember of Whitney’s acting is her bug-eyed expression she would make when speaking her lines.

  2. I think it is such a pity that Dada let such great opportunities pass her by like that. I hope that she does not regret it down the road but I have a feeling that she will.

  3. Whitney Hui was pretty annoying in Inbound troubles. I can’t imagine having her in the movie with all these restrictions as well.

Also – Dada has a more impressive career line than Whitney!!!

    1. No offence but what is so impressive about DADA ? she made her money by revealing herself to the public.

      1. Hence I only made reference to her “career line”

Yum – do you know the underlying meaning of the slang – career line in cantonese?

  4. Since Whitney is a TVB managed artiste and Miss HK, she wouldn’t be taken part in too sexually explicit scenes I suppose..

  5. I think she is sexy and very hot babe.. I remember her Monica D role..wow, her evil acting with huge eyes really have won many guys hearts as she damn sexy…

  6. I prefer dada. =[ not a fan of whitney she kinda looks like a pirated version of Rebecca zhu. I was only gonna watch LKF3 for dada now that shes gone theres no reason to watch it. maybe for ava :O

    1. her face look like she’s so mean and arrogant. not she soft type like dada :c why did he picked her?

  7. Whitney’s acting is raw but always think she’s hot since miss hk and preferred her over rebecca zhu back then!

  8. She’s hot. Will probably get more suitable roles and improve acting

  9. Whitney Hui is pretty and sexy. Hope her acting is good too.

She may get popular in “Lan Kwai Fong 3”. Wish her good luck. I hope she will act well in this movie.

    1. Acting is not the most prominent feature in this sorts of movie. She needs to work on her cleavage in order to fill Dada’s shoes.

  10. Gotta admit the LKF franchise is pretty entertaining but the acting itself is just too cheesy…perhaps these movies aren’t suppose to be made for it’s filmography. It’s exclusively a critique of the nightlife that eventually turns to young love and infatuation.

Didn’t think much of her in Karma Rider and never even heard of this Dada Chan, but Whitney got that appeal for this movie.

  11. Wonder if they will be any good scene you know what I mean

  12. “I do have a bottom line when it comes to sexiness”

    Yet look at the picture…

    1. That was from a pageant, they were required to dress like that.

  13. “Within ten days, Wilson completely removed Dada’s character from the script and promoted Whitney from her initial guest role to leading lady status.”

Guess it’s not that hard to re-write trash, and prefer Dada a lot more, best of luck to her whatever she ends up doing. This Whitney girl has a very obnoxious look to her.

Why is Ava in this film, don’t you need breasts to be in this?
