“X-Men: Days of Future Past” Unveils New Still of Fan Bingbing

The official website of the upcoming Hollywood science fiction epic, X-Men: Days of Future Past, recently revealed new stills of its main cast, including one of mainland Chinese actress Fan Bingbing (范冰冰) as the teleporting mutant Blink.

Although Bingbing’s appearance was already revealed in the trailer, the new still gives viewers the opportunity to get a closer look at Blink’s features. Dressed in tight-fitting leather armor and with long, braided purple hair, Blink instantly impresses viewers with the cold but determined look in her startlingly green eyes.

The Days of Future Past website also included a short character biography, which reads, “Blink’s dimension warping powers – the ability to teleport people and objects – make her a vital member of the X-Men. But with mutant existence at stake, she won’t be able to keep them safe for much longer.”

Since the announcement of Fan Bingbing’s casting in Days of Future Past, many of her fans have passionately supported the appearance of a Chinese artist in an international movie. Even though her role is considered minor among the ensemble cast, which includes franchise favorites Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen, Bingbing’s star power is such that many netizens have created scale models of Blink to show their support for the character.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is a sequel to X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class, though the movie’s characters will go back in time in an attempt to defeat Bolivar Trask, a military scientist who created an army of robots to destroy mutants. The film will open in theaters in the United States on May 23.

  1. Wow she looks like a really awful cosplayer. Hard to believe they couldn’t come up with something better with a budget like that.

  2. Looks like someone going to a rave party and not a mutant. But since her role isn’t much (with an already overpopulated movie) I suppose it doesn’t matter.

  3. Don’t see anything wrong with the photo. She’s in Hollywood and she has to blend in with the white therefore she doesn’t look Asian. She look pretty convincing in the trailer.
