Joey Yung to Release New Cantonese Album and Hold Two Concerts

At a recent event, Hong Kong singer/actress Joey Yung (容祖儿) revealed that she will be releasing a new Cantonese album in August. In September, she will also participate in the MOOV Live concert, later followed by an appearance at the Hong Kong Coliseum for the 2014 New Year’s concert.

In order to have her new album ready by its August release date, Joey is currently busy with recording songs. Despite her many years as a professional singer, she admitted that every time she records an album, she will still feel a bit nervous. However, she sees this not as a setback, but rather as a type of driving force, and hopes that she will be able to feel a sense of improvement every time she sings.

Apart from working on her upcoming album, Joey is also occupied with early preparations for her two concert appearances, in which she will perform some of her new songs. This will be Joey’s first time performing in a New Year’s concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, and she shared that she hopes to be able to find more inspiration, so as to achieve a bigger breakthrough.

Because Joey previously participated in CCTV’s Dancing with the Stars <舞出我人生>, many fans were impressed at her dancing and hope to see more of it during her concert appearances. In response, Joey laughed and said that the show helped her realize how much she enjoyed dancing. She also added that her fans should not be too surprised if she starts dancing ballet during one of her concerts.

Recently, rumors arose that she and Hong Kong singer Eason Chan (陳奕迅) will participate as judges in a TVB talent show. Joey denied these rumors, saying that neither she nor her company had received such an invitation. Nevertheless, she said she would look forward to this type of work, since she pays attention to China’s various singing talent shows and is especially looking forward to the second season of The Voice of China <中國好聲音>.

“To be able to listen to music and enjoy the ambience, while also being comfortable,” she mused. “It’s a pretty good job.”
