Joyce Cheng’s New Album, “The Voice of Love”

It has been nearly two years since Joyce Cheng (鄭欣宜) last released an original studio effort. In the past two years, Joyce chose to expand her career to film, drama, and even musicals. She also participated in several large-scale concerts held in the Hong Kong Coliseum, such as in concerts dedicated to the late Hong Kong legends Roman Tam (羅文) and her own mother, Lydia Shum (沈殿霞).

On December 13, 2013, Joyce released her third studio album The Voice of Love through Stars Shine International. The album consists of 11 tracks, one which is Joyce’s self-composed hit “Embrace Love” <擁抱愛>, the theme song to the popular TVB sitcom Come Home Love <愛·回家>. “Embrace Love” achieved various awards since its release in 2012, including the Yahoo! Asia Buzz Award for Most Searched Song of 2012 and a trophy at the first rounds of the JSG Best Ten Music Awards.

The Voice of Love spawns two singles – the ballads “Pet” <寵物牠>, which was released in October 2013, and “So Wrong” <知錯>, which was released in November 2013. The latter song also peaked at number one on TVB’s JSG charts.

  2. There’s something about her that makes her a very hateable character.

  3. Congratulations Joyce, good to see that you are coming out of your mother’s shadow.
