Kate Tsui Sings Ending Theme For “The Ultimate Addiction”
Kate Tsui (徐子珊) and The Voice 2 <超級巨聲2> alum Hubert Wu (胡鴻鈞) have recorded “Meeting Your Match“ <棋逢敵手>, the ending theme for upcoming TVB series The Ultimate Addiction <點金勝手>.
Like many TVB artistes, Kate began her singing career by recording theme songs for dramas and children’s programs. She was briefly signed by record label Vigour Entertainment and released an EP (Extended Play) album in 2009, containing four original songs and two remixes. Her lead singles “Hit Me” and “Mind Reading” <讀心術>, both infused with catchy dance beats, reached top ten in Hong Kong radio charts. Despite her initial success, she received mixed reviews over her live singing ability. Her music label also went out of business in 2010, putting her singer dreams on hiatus indefinitely.
Kate continued to perform TVB theme songs in the following years, singing solo in 2011’s Wax and Wane <團圓> and with Michael Tse (謝天華) in Relic Of An Emissary <洪武三十二>. Kate also sang live at various overseas concerts, and accompanied Raymond Lam (林峯) as a guest performer on his world tour. Regardless of her singing talent, the 34-year-old is generally praised for her dancing skills and confidence on stage.
With her new drama scheduled to air on June 2, Kate appeared on music program Jade Solid Gold <勁歌金曲> on May 28 to promote her new single and to generate noise for the series. Returning to the recording studio after three years, she admits to feeling nervous about working with Hubert, but the fear soon subsided. She also faced pressure during the four-hour recording session since TVB’s Stars Dream label boss Herman Ho (何哲圖) was present. When asked if Mr. Ho is recruiting her for his label, Kate denied any plans for releasing a new album, though mentioned that Mr. Ho had praised her singing.

Seriously, none of the fadans and siu sungs can sing a tune, but it’s got nothing to do with singing and everything to do with marketing. You know this already, so why complain. You guys were the ones to buy into these fadan/siu sung fan clubs in first place, so why act so surprised when TVB decides to manipulate the situation for financial gain?
I seriously think those days TVB was strict with selecting talents. They must be able to sing and act, not sure on dancing. But these days once you’re famous, you can start cutting an album or you’ve good looks. I wonder if ppl like Raymond Lam if he didnt have gone for plastic surgery, would he still be famous (acting & singing) or mediocre?

Before the rumours of having PS (starting during 2004 period), LF already had leading roles. He started to have leading roles since 2001. In fact, from 2004 to 2005, he was underpromoted by Txb until he got the love of audience due to La Femme Desperando. It means the PS (if any) didnt help him but his acting and role.
For singing, before 2004, his singing is already liked and many ppl asked Txb why giving Ron chance to release album but not him (his chance only came in 2007). And in 2007, he can do one thing that other good looking Txb guys can do before him (including Ron and KC): Having a well soled album. Providing that Ron sold 4000 copies of his EP (including special version), KC can sell 6000 copies of his album while LF sold 20000 copies of his first album (the amount counted for one month). If the good look and fame are the only reasons, well, Ron is called as handsome boy in years and in the year he released his album, he was on top of his fame; KC won Best actor the same year with his album.
For fans, most of members in his HK FC gained before 2004 stayed with him until now. They are all 25++ and still go to his functions.
Anyone can release an album but not everyone success. You can see that clearly. There are Txb artists who can release only one album and disappear in music field forever. The fame and good look cannot maintain the release of an album, at least s/he must have voice. Hence in my opinion, the rule of showbiz doesnt changed, you still need to have something to gain fans and the ones with mega fanbase must be more outstanding than the rest.

I heard her singing life once, i don’t think is good, her voice just normal not really we can call her a singer.
In fact her singing this time isnt too terrible. She seems to stay in tune better. However as much as I like her, she should just sing themesong as a hobbie and no plan to become a singer.
Actually none of Txb top fadans now can sing. Myolie might be the best but her singing is just ok. Not saying of Linda and her shaky quaky performance despite her sweetness.

Hubert has very good singing skill, while Kate’s singing skill is only so so. I hope Kate won’t pull the song down.

I’ve heard the preview of the song and regardless of whether Kate can sing or not, her voice suits Hubert’s so much. Hubert is my favourite singer right now and Kate is my favourite fadan so everything for me is happy days! When will the full song be released? I’m living on a 30 second preview….
