Leo Ku and Joey Yung Sing Theme Song for “Beijing Love Story”
Leo Ku (古巨基) and Joey Yung (容祖兒) sing the theme song for upcoming mainland Chinese film Beijing Love Story <北京愛情故事>, which is slated to open on Valentine’s Day. The romantic ballad “There is Also Life in Love” <爱情也有生命>, written by Taiwanese producer Kay Huang (黃韻玲), has lyrics that illustrate the different concepts of love, a theme that the film itself explores. The duet’s lyrics are helmed by renowned Hong Kong lyricist Albert Leung (林夕).
Starring Chen Sicheng (陈思诚), who is also the film’s director and screenwriter, Beijing Love Story chronicles the lives of five couples and their different love stories. Some overcome their economic, cultural, and social obstacles to be together. Some are destined to be apart. Some relationships are romantic and sweet; some are bittersweet and painful.
Beijing Love Story is a different take on the stories told in the 2012 Chinese television drama of the same name, which Chen Sicheng also directed and starred in.
The film features an ensemble cast of actors from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China, including Tony Leung Ka Fai (梁家輝), Carina Lau (劉嘉玲), Tong Liya (佟丽娅), Wang Xuebing (王学兵), Yu Nan (余男), Nana Ouyang (歐陽娜娜), Siqin Gaowa (斯琴高娃), Wang Qingxiang (王庆祥), and Elaine Jin (金燕玲). The film opens in mainland China on February 14, 2014.
Leo and Joey will be performing “There is Also Life in Love” for the first time at Dragon TV’s Chinese New Year Gala on January 31, 2014.
