Tang Chi Wai and Ben Chong Launch Unleash Entertainment

Music producers Tang Chi Wai (鄧智偉) and Ben Chong (莊冬昕) recently established their new entertainment company, Unleash Entertainment. At the earlier launch of their company, Chi Wai and Ben shared exciting upcoming plans and collaboration projects ahead.

Working at TVB for more than a decade and composing many memorable songs, Chi Wai resigned from the television station in 2013 to pursue his own music visions as well as venture into new markets. The company has already signed American producer DJ Whoo Kid, who has worked with Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki, and Borgeous to fuse hip hop sounds into its music productions. Although Chi Wai and Ben have distinct music styles, they decided to work together to inject freshness into the Cantopop scene. Aside from entertainment pursuits, Unleash also aims to bring international brands into the Mainland Chinese market through its marketing efforts.

The company’s visions are supported by Raymond Lam (林峰) and TVB executive Virginia Lok (樂易玲), who attended the launch ceremony last month. Raymond shrugged aside rumors that he is one of the investors at Unleash. However, Raymond enthusiastically revealed that Chi Wai, who has been a long-time friend and collaborator, will be composing songs for his upcoming music album with recording to take place in the United States.

Tang Chi Wai Releases New Song, “Epic”

Aside from working with local artistes, Chi Wai also finds fulfillment in lending his vocals to his music compositions. He plays the piano accompaniment in his latest song, “Epic” <史詩式>, which has received praise since its release. With Chi Wai’s creativity and reputation for high quality works, many fans will be eager to find out what he has in stall for the Cantopop industry next.

  3. Chok was pretty good. HK music needs producers like them to think outside the box. That is the reason why Cantopop is dying while K-pop and J-pop is exploding.

    1. Chok might be most controversial song in the history of cantopop, but Chok is also the most famous , best selling & popular in the history of jsg’s gold song.

    2. Chok isn’t a bad song, it was only controversial because it won JSG’s Gold Song award which was rigged due to TVB trying to promote Raymond. if he didn’t win the award, there w0uldn’t have been so much controversy, nothing to do with the quality of the song

  4. Hip Hop and UNCLE Raymond don’t go together. I hope they don’t get Ray to sing these horrible fast pop songs and do weird dances again.

  5. “Nice ” & “lfx 6.8” does contemplates of euro -korean techno waves with light hip hop elements

  6. After listening to Ben’s new song yakkeala, CHOK isn’t that bad after all.

  7. He got the American style music part right, but I don’t like American music, so his songs are not for me. I don’t want HK music to get Americanized.
I’m sure he’s trying to express something important in his lyrics though. Can anyone translate? My Chinese isn’t that great.
