Vanness Wu Releases New Love-Infused Album, “Different Man”

With his slew of musical, television, and commercial accomplishments, it would be no surprise if Taiwanese singer/actor Vanness Wu (吳建豪) took some time to revel in his success. Indeed, the Vanness of the past may have done so, but in his new album, Vanness shares how love helped him transform into a Different Man.

Although Vanness is actively involved in sports, art, fashion, and charity, and boasts advertising endorsements with Reebok and Versace, he refuses to be overwhelmed by the glory and applause. Instead, he diverts the applause to his friends and supporters, while directing the glory back to his beliefs. In the meantime, he strives to improve himself.

Different Man, which Vanness worked on for two years, revolves around a simple but complicated idea: love. Among the album’s twelve tracks, five mention “love” in the title, and “Marry Me” <小婚禮>, a light-hearted romantic single that literally translates as “Little Wedding,” is sure to become a hit among newlyweds this year. Through these songs, Vanness confesses how he changed from a despicable man, spurned by all, to a new and different man, who learned how to cherish females.

Much like his previous album, C’est La V, in which he collaborated with artists like Bruno Mars and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, Vanness assembled a strong international line-up for Different Man. Contributors include well-known Korean producer Jae Chong, Chinese-American musician Enik Lin, and Aziatix rapper Jay Flowsik Pak. The album also features a range of styles, from the dub-step title track to retro electronic tunes that pay tribute to singers like Michael Jackson and Prince. With this expert assortment of songs, Vanness proves that, as he has become an improved and different man, his musical prowess has changed for the better as well.
