TVB new Director of Production, Sandy Yu (余詠珊), will add yet another innovative feature to this year’s revamped 2012 Miss Hong Kong Pageant! TVB recently revealed that a new special award will be implemented, in which the 10 finalists of the Miss Hong Kong Pageant will have to appear to the media without makeup!
Skin Care: The 10 Day Challenge
In mid-August, after the end of the Olympics, the 10 Miss Hong Kong contestants will appear before the media without their makeup to compete for a new award. Both the judging panel and the viewers will vote for the best face without makeup. The results will be tabulated live.
Not wishing to “scare away” the judges and viewers with the contestants’ natural faces, TVB will invite famous makeup artist, Zing, to lightly touch up any flaws before the contest.
With only 10 days left, the contestants are now taking crash courses on skin care, hoping to achieve a flawless look for the judges and viewers!
Sandy Yu expressed her confidence in the 10 Miss Hong Kong contestants. Ms. Yu said, “We are not trying to portray the contestants in an unflattering light! We’ve inspected them already; they’re all okay!”
Contestants’ Naked Faces
Many contestants have already appeared to the media with light makeup. Both Tracy Chu (朱千雪) and Jennifer Shum (岑杏賢) have very heavy eye bags under their eyes. Christy Chan (陳潔玲), also known as a “skin ulcer version” of Michelle Chen (陳妍希), has poor skin, and Roxanne Tong’s (湯洛雯) dark panda eyes are even apparent with makeup.
The contestants may need to quickly brush up their skin care routines!

Tvb makes no sense in their promotion tactics. If they want these girls to appear natural and without makeup, then why bother hiring a make up artist to “touch-up” on their faces?

I don’t sit in front of my television with my pants around my ankles to see nasty puffy eyebags, narrow eyes with no foundation, wrinkly hags without their make-up on.
And neither should anyone else.
Im more afraid of a spike in emergency calls due to heart attacks after seeing the girls without make-up.

Did the girls wear any “light” makeup in the above photo? They looked like they already had enough makeup on their faces. Would I see something quite different in mid August? Totally unrecognized faces?!
None of them looked very pretty in the above photos with makeup. They wear no makeup in mid August, oh my goodness!
I think this is a good idea because it will show viewers how they truly look without a lot on. It would be better if they truly had nothing on. Didn’t they have a best skin award too?? Is this what it is or is it a new award of who has the best look with light make up on?? But it is a good idea for one of the little awards.

Which photo, top one or bottom one? The one in the blue in the top photo looked quite ugly. Didn’t know how she got in as one of the top 10 in the final.
Maybe she looked pretty good with make up but really bad without it?? Who is the one in blue anyways?

Either TvB meant by no makeup is light makeup OR tvb is trying to fool us here.. I can still see lipstick and thick foundation on their faces. I can even see eyeliner too.
Ahhh eyeliner is basic right of all women! Can’t deny them big alert eyes like coloured contact lenses! Eyelashes and some foundation plus some sunscreen and a nude lipstick.
I think Tvb is trying to trick us as usual. I had a feeling they still have some form of make up on. I highly doubt that they are that brave to allow them to go completely bare without any form of make up on their faces.
They might use nude makeup in the end.
Haha. When I first read the headlines, I thought, “Really? No makeup OR makeup to fake the no makeup look?” Article says it all really. Might as well pick someone off the street and give them a makeover instead.
ok these pics above are misleading.. when the title says “no makeup” I pressume no make up are applied on their faces but somehow i still see light makeup on their faces..so light makeup or no makeup? I double TVB will dare to show their lifeless and haggard dull face w/o the foundation etc.. Too risky, audience will lose appeal from watching the competition..lol
