2013 Miss Chinese International Pageant

This year, Chinese beauties from 16 different cities around the world will gather in Hong Kong for the big night on February 24, 2013. The winner of the 2013 Miss Chinese International Pageant, along with first and second runner-ups, will be determined based on beauty, deportment, and intelligence. The hosts of the night will be Eric Tsang (曾志偉), Sammy Leung (森美), and Sharon Chan (陳敏之).

Since the night of the finale will be held on the day of the Chinese Lantern Festival, the 16 contestants will choose their own auspicious dating apparel, and display their best spirits while fantasizing about their dream man. This year’s bikinis and Chinese traditional dresses each have distinctive designs. The bikinis will be studded with sparkling diamonds, allowing the contestants to be extremely eye-catching onstage. The Chinese traditional dresses will feature a mixed essence of Chinese attire as well as Western fashioned tailoring, further enhancing the contestants’ beauty.

In addition, judges of the night will assess the contestants based on fairly strict criteria. The judges consist of Josephine Pang (彭徐美雲), Kenneth Ma (馬國明), Fala Chen (陳法拉), Lawrence Cheng (鄭丹瑞), and Jimmy Wong (王賜豪), who will be evaluating with the most professional aesthetic vision. To bring further excitement, this year’s competition will consist of brand new activities and elements.

There will also be an award titled the “Star of Tomorrow”, in which 20 celebrities are invited to vote for their favourite contestant of the night. These celebrities include Oceane Zhu (朱璇), Grace Wong (王君馨), Queenie Chu (朱慧敏), Whitney Hui (許亦妮). Christine Kuo (苟芸慧), Sammy Sum (沈震軒), and Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿).

  1. #6 Denise Tan from Malaysia looks cute.

The bikini design is quite flattering and makes everyone busty.

  2. I like no 6. She is really sweet. And familiar. Very familiar but I can’t place where I saw her before.

  3. I think #2 and Carat are the prettiest based on these pictures. #9 looks a little like Rachel Kan to me.

  4. One of these girls will be the next heavily promoted newbie by TVB.

  5. This year’s pageant is really short, I think the contestants just arrived two weeks ago. Anyways, I think 5,6, 9, 15, and 16 are good.

  6. Woot Woot! Vancouver represent! But in that picture, Gloria looks really skinny. I also like #14 🙂

  7. oh no, not the loud mouth midget again, couldn’t they find someone else? a better looking man with a good personality? hold an interview for it then

  8. Why do countries with low Chinese population have more than its fair share of contestants, with higher ratio representation?

Australia has 2, Canada has 3, USA has 4??

What is that, HK? The panel judges, the TV media all points to this being a TVB affair rather than an international organised competition, in the mould of like Miss Universe. and Miss World.

This is unfair. Where are the Chinese cities and where is Taipei?

Somehow, when I see Eric Tsang in the list, fairness and equity it looks doubtful.

    1. Agree – where is Taiwan ? This is a no standard competition lol.

  9. #2,#6, and #9 have the TVB actress looks that you see so often in TVB dramas. #16 needs to eat. She looks anorexic, not healthy at all.

    1. I do agreed that No 16 looks anorexic . How to be sexy with that anorexic look .

      1. Yeah most of the contestants this year looks really skinny. s:

  10. Based on the self introduction clips from tvb.com, #9 stood out from the crowd. Many of them are just plain looking.

  11. None of them look good. Their body is either too skinny or some with slight tummy. Gosh the qualities of the women have dropped so much compare to the 80s’ and 90s’

  12. Why the midget again and now assisted by a laughing clown? Spoilt the whole show.

      1. 2nd runner-up: Hong Kong
        1st runner-up: Kuala Lumpur
        winner: Vancouver

  13. You sure this isnt the Miss Shemale International pageant in Thailand?

  14. Gosh some of them are really ugly, especially the last two on the main pic above. Some of them are just skinny, they look anorexic and ill.

  15. I think Gloria Tang is an intelligent and classy girl. But people place to much emphasis on looks.

  16. 16 won too skinny.
    2 has a nice body
6 not that cute to be 1st runner up
5 is cute to be 2nd runner up.
11 has a nice face not in here but in the main webpage. nobody looks pretty here actually.
guess tvb wants to promote carat just like charmaine so they gave them 3 prize.

    1. Wrong. I find 5 can’t even be in top 5, let alone be 2nd runner up. duh!

“guess tvb wants to promote carat just like charmaine so they gave them 3 prize.”

You said it, its not about their talent, its about who TVB likes.

ICAC should be in here to audit favouritism.

      1. This is because Canada has lop-sided biased, one way representation. It has 3 cities even though it has low Chinese population. Unfair, to say the least.

And they speak Cantonese. another advantage over the rest.

If this be the case, why not have Kowloon, and HK island and New Territory?

And Malaysia to have 2, Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
In fact, most of the KL contestants are not even from the city itself, just that they represent Malaysia and so have to be KL.

  17. I am rooting for Lauren Weinberger who may well be the first JAP (Jewish American Princess) MCI.

  18. TVB is dead biased.

Why do all those past Canadian winners in the top 5 get to be heavily promoted and become overnight stars, but those from other countries like Malaysia don’t get the same opportunities, despite them able to speak better Cantonese and/or Mandarin and know the written Chinese more than those Cads?

I guess TVB view the Canadians as an offshoot from HK.

Malaysian audiences should stop supporting TVB so much.

  19. OMG! Chicago only has 43,000 Chinese and LA 67,000 and they get to be represented in the Miss Chinese International?

    Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._cities_with_significant_Chinese_American_populations

USA only has 2.5 million who identify themselves as Chinese, a mere 0.75% of the population but they have 4 cities representation.

Canada’s Chinese only consists of 1 million, 3% of the population but they have 3 cities.

Australia is worse, yet still has 2 cities.

But Malaysia has 7 million, HK has 7 million, Singapore has 3.5 million but all are only represented by one city each.

Is this fair to you, TVB???

It means one city in Canada only serves to represent 330,000 Chinese vs Kuala Lumpur’s 7 million. Based on this ratio, Malaysia should have 21 cities representing them, same with HK and 11 for Singapore

This 3 countries should sweep all the top 5 positions in the pageant year after year.
Step aside please, Canada, USA and Australia.

The statistics shows a deliberate attempt by TVB to give biased priority to talents specifically from these western countries, no two ways about it.

Boycott the pageant if the Asian countries has any pride left !

    1. It’s probably because not many cities in Malaysia or Singapore hold their own Chinese beauty pageants. Canada is a huge country, and all 3 representing cities are far from each other. They have their own city’s pageant, so it’s understandable.
