Aimee Chan Denies Abandoning Cats: “I’ll Take Them Back!”

Happy mother Aimee Chan (陳茵媺) attended an event yesterday at a shopping mall in Tai Po. She revealed that she plans to enroll her son Aiden Chan (陳梓燁) to a pre-school playgroup once he comes of age, explaining that it is expected of Hong Kong children to do so. As Aiden is still only seven months old, Aimee said she still has plenty of time left to do more research.

“I have a lot to look up, such as how far the school. I have many things to think about,” said Aimee. Asked if Aimee’s husband, Moses Chan (陳豪), had given her any input about the schools, Aimee said he did, but she prefers asking around and visiting the schools personally. “When choosing schools, we have to also consider whether or not the school’s teaching style is  suitable for our kids.”

Last month, Aimee and her family were spotted at the Hong Kong International Airport en route to Australia. Aimee admitted that they went to Sydney and visited relatives. Asking if she plans to go anywhere while she is on her maternity break, Aimee said, “It doesn’t matter! But it also really depends on [Moses]. I do like resort-style vacations. I like sunny places, where I can eat and swim.” She said she would like to teach Aiden swimming herself.

Aimee Denies Cat Abanonment

Aimee had incurred the wrath of many netizens and animal lovers recently when she shared that she gave away her three cats to avoid triggering allergies while she was pregnant. Having lived with her cats for six years, Aimee was criticized as being cruel for abandoning her cats.

Aimee clarified, “I’m still breastfeeding so I can’t take allergy medication now. I’ve taken medication for six years and I don’t mind continuing with them. I brought the cats home so I will respect them as my own children. It is forever. My friends and I have reached a consensus – once I am finished with breastfeeding, I will bring them back home. I hope everyone will not misunderstand anymore.”

  1. So when you have the second baby, you will give them to your friends again?? Those poor cats.

    1. what is more important, a baby or a cat? If you have no common sense, then let me answer it for you. It is obviously the baby!!!

      1. who cares about babies? cats are so much better.

    2. It’s temporary. What is wrong with that? The cats are well taken care of. When people go on vacation, they send their pets to pet hotels also … it’s not that uncommon. People are fussing over the most ridiculous things ever .. poor Aimee

      1. Exactly, I don’t see anything wrong with that too. Obviously her child is more important than her cats !

    3. Yes, those poor cats who gets to live under a nice house and gets well fed by Aimee’s friend. You know there are HUMANS who don’t even have the living conditions that the cats are getting?

Remember my username the next time you decide to post a stupid comment.

    4. Darn those cats!!!

Don’t listen to them, Aimee. Do what you think is right for your baby. They are after all, cats, they are animals.

If these armchair critics have develop some allergy, or handicap or illness in later life due to their mothers’ cats, they will surely live to regret it.

Those cats are now long dead and gone, but they are still in their teens and have 60++ years to live. Long live these cats disease-infested kind humans, LOL

      Think about it.

  2. Why is the big fuss about Aimee and her cat anyways?? I believe she gave them to ppl that is also an animal lover not like she threw them out on the street or anything Sheeesshh ppl nowadays are sooooo dramatic

    1. I know, so she gave it away to someone new big freaking deal..hahah I don’t even think this qualifies as newsworth..HKers are so weird sometimes.
I mean if she abandons them on the streets that’s a diff story, she found them a new owner. whats the problem here….

    2. Poor Aimie. She’s just giving her cats to her friends, yet the public made it sound like she committed some big crime!

    3. Exactly. I swear all the people that are over reacting are retarded

      1. To each his own and everyone is entitled to their own perceptions/thoughts/sentiments/feelings.. All can choose to agree or disagree but it’s not nice to be calling people retarded.. I did call her a dumb woman before and I think that was mean of me to label her like that..

      2. I agree some people are so retarded. Their perceptions/thoughts/sentiments/feelings are warped. Seriously, would they be be happier to read that she abandoned her son or sent him to live with friends so she can keep her cats?!?!! It is either keep the baby or keep the cats If people can’t understand why she chose to keep the baby, then really there is something not right with their brains and logic.

      3. Oh well.. Now, she’s saying she will be retrieving the cats.. Hope everyone’s happy and things will work out great for all..

  3. “I’m still breastfeeding so I take allergy medication now. I’ve taken medication for six years and I don’t mind continuing with them. ”

This sentence got me confuse … i thought breast feeding mothers avoid taking meds

    1. I think she means she has been taking medication for the last 6 years to manage her allergies. Since she was pregnant and is not breast feeding she can’t take the medications.

So it makes sense what she is doing.

  4. This really did not need a second article. She did the right thing and that’s it. I don’t understand what those “animal lovers” want…Do they seriously value the cats more than her son’s health? Because that’s ridiculous.

  5. You guys are exaggerating- a cat is just an animal, not as important as your own child. Although I personally don’t like Aimee, I think that she has the right to protect her child.

    1. Cat’s are animals, but they still have their own rights. So you can say the are just an animal, that’s just cruel. But what Aimee is doing is absolutely correct and justified. She shouldn’t be hated or judged for the decisions she makes.

  6. Its not like she left the cats on the streets. Geez some of you are making such a big deal out of it. Please get a life

  7. Aimee, did not abandon her cats onto the streets or into an animal shelter. She gave it to her friends, which means the cats have a roof to live under. I don’t see what’s the big about it. What’s more important a pet or a baby. I love pets myself, but I don’t see any problem with Aimee’s decision.
    Baby> Cat seems very reasonable

  8. Aimee is just being nice. If I were her,I would have made a big fuss out of the misunderstanding done by the reporters.

She’s just doing her job as a loving mother. Since she can’t take medications, she has to give them away for a while. It’s not like she abandoned them in the streets, or just not care about them. I’m sure she has already found animal lovers who are willing to take care of those cats.

Do think of herself too. If she could have done it without forgoing the cats, she would have done so. I understand that, and I totally agree with her actions.

So-called animal lovers, try to think like this: If you have a cat allergy, and you are taking meds, but you are pregnant/have a baby now and you can’t take meds, what would you do? Do you give away your cat or your baby? Do think from her perspective. There’s also a possibility that Aiden has allergies towards cats too if the allergy is inherited.

  9. LOL seriously people still on abouther abandoning her pets

  10. There are so many abandoned and abused cats and dogs in HK. Those attacking Aimee ought to channel their energy to help the strays.

  11. Whoever wanna complain, take the cats home to take care for them.

  12. To all EXTREME animal lovers: CHILL OUT! Stop being so overly sensitive about every little thing. It’s not like shes giving them away forever. I have pets too, and at times when I couldn’t take care of them (business trip, visiting, traveling) I would send them over to mom’s place to have her take care of them. OH that’s right, it’s “evil.” What are you going to do?

  13. I strongly agree with the way that Aimee takes care of her baby and her cats. There is nothing wrong at all that she send her cats to her friends to take care for now while she is breastfeeding.d The cats are still being well taken care of and nothing is wrong with that. Many people who have pets will send their pets to their friends or pet boarding hotel when they are away for holiday or business trip. The pets do enjoy themselves too when they are well taken care of. I don’t understand why people like to complain this and complain that. Just chill out, people.

  14. TAXOPLASMOSIS!

pregnant women do not need to avoid cats, but they must avoid cat litter and poop!

If there is even a .05% chance of getting infected! then get rid of the cat. Cat lovers should not just love their cats, they should love their baby TOO!

  15. is confusing the cat that serious of a crime or knowingly putting the baby in medical danger worse? Ask yourselves what you’d do in Aimee shoes.

  16. When I adopted my cat, I was no where near marriage, let alone getting pregnant. As soon as I got pregnant it dawned on me that “animal feces and baby at home” may be unhygienic. So I investigated and found out pregnant women are extremely susceptible to TAXOPLASMOSIS ! What do you think I did? I looked feverishly for a new home for my cat of 5 years!

  17. It already has been reported by Aimee that she will take back the 3 kitties when she stops breast feeding cause she already she stated that already and she do go and visit her kitties from time to time ppl in HK are so uptight about lil things Shhheeesshhh

  18. Although Aimee is a bad actress with mediocre looks I think it’s not wrong to choose her child over her cats.

  19. Isn’t she is FAKE & Contradicting when she said “I brought the cats home so I will RESPECT them as my OWN CHILDREN. It is FOREVER”.
