Aimee Chan Denies Giving Up on Acting Career

At an earlier promotional event, Moses Chan (陳豪) and Aimee Chan (陳茵媺) shared their joys of being parents. While taking care of their six-month-old old son, Aiden Joshua (陳梓燁), has been a challenge for the first-time parents, they enjoy the bonding experience.

Since giving birth in December, Aimee has reduced her workload. Only making occasional promotional appearances, Aimee assured that she is not ready to give up her acting career yet. Asked when she will return to filming TVB dramas, she said, “The script is not set yet. But I still have a lot of passion for acting, similar to Moses’ passion for coffee!”

Aimee is also suffering tenosynovitis on her wrist, a common condition that affects mothers. However, the condition is not as serious as it seems. Moses said,“She’s tried almost everything. She has checked up with a physical therapist and a traditional Chinese doctor. We hope the condition will not worsen. She’s wearing a cast and I would occasionally give her acupressure. This is a common problem for many mothers. It’s not a new disease.” Although the physical therapy alleviates her wrist pain, the discomfort has not completely gone away as Aimee still needs to take care of Aiden.

Asked if Moses is interested in having another child, he smiled and said yes. “A little later though. Let Aimee take a break first! [Aiden] is still very young and [Aimee] is busy. Let her relax for a while first. But yes, I do want to have another. Just not soon.” Does Moses want to have a daughter next time? “Of course! That’s perfect!”

  1. She is taking a break not because of her son but because of her wrist. Believe me, she has the drive and the ambition to have it all. She! Will! Be! Baaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!

    1. I don’t know if you were being sarcastic, Funn. Haha. But with Aimee, all things is possible through Moses Chan.

    2. why don’t you go and apply to be an actress?

  2. Please retire, for the sake of all TVB viewers.

    1. 🙂 I’d third that!!! Where’s the petition???

    2. Yeah, Aimee and Moses, pl just go! Stop clogging up our tv screens.

  3. It is not a loss to TVB if she doesn’t come back, it is a gain that she doesn’t come back.

    1. Can’t agree with the second part of your statement more.

  4. She will be ready to return on Moses and her specified terms. Raising a family takes 1st priority.

  5. Aimee is sweet when she smiles. But when she’s not smiling, she can look very serious and mean sometimes. Her looks are quite unique compared to other actresses TVB currently promoting. Her acting is somewhat disappointing. If she improves on her acting she can go quite far.

  6. I can almost promise that there’s an article about Aimee claiming she still has a passion for her acting career and she’s not quitting every one or two months. But to be honest, I don’t think her acting skills were really that great for that many people to care.

But the fact is that her newborn son is her priority right now and there’s nothing wrong with that. I don’t see why the reporters have to ask her about filming again and she always reminds us that she has a passion for acting. Passion isn’t all and since debuting in 2006, she has had less improvements than let’s say, Fala and maybe even Kate.

      ————————————————————–
To be fair to Aimee Chan, Aimee started filming her first drama series and sitcom in 2008 while Fala Chen and Kate Tsui started their first debuts in 2005. There is a 3-year difference in filming experience.

      1. Having experience is one thing, but having the innate talent to act well or not is another.

      2. Language barrier could also be a problem or disadvantage to Aimee Chan.

      3. To sandcherry,
Not everyone were born with natural acting talent. Some ppl can act naturally, it’s gifted. I’m not sure if you noticed TVB is not strict with selecting talents nor retaining their talents. I think talents before were mostly good actors.

Having acted for many years dont mean you can be good. Just quote Kathy Chow Hoi Mei, she’s considered a veteran am I right? She has been acting for many yrs am I right? She attended training class on acting am I not right? But she still cant act, why? She doesnt have the talent of being an actress that’s all.

I remember Charmaine Sheh never received any acting training but if you were to ask me I think she can act. Though I wont say she’s the best. Talent really counts, luck, viewers must also like you, some actor/actress you just dislike their face that’s all.

      4. Agree. Talent is very important for an artiste, but experience will help a lot too if you are not talented and language barrier will also hinder an artiste’s improvement.

Do you think Kate Tsui is a talented actress? I doubt it. If so, she does not need to maintain a pretty image (extra long fake eyelashes, beautiful long hair and 5+ inch of high-heeled shoes) at all times. An good artiste needs to be natural in his/her look as well as his/her acting!

Also agree that Charmaine Sheh is more talented than Kathy Chow in acting. Unfortunately, there are not that many talented actresses around in TVB or film industry. Besides being talented, an artiste also needs good luck (timing, script, etc.) to excel and become famous.

      5. I’m aware of the difference in their debut years. When I was referring to Fala’s improvement, I was referring to her Cantonese improvements especially. I remember finding Fala’s Cantonese poor in the first 2-3 years of her acting career. At this moment, I can’t remember which series I started changing my mind about her, but it was either Moonlight Resonance (2008) or No Regrets (2010), if I recall correctly. Since then, her acting has plateued as well and there hasn’t been major improvements ever since either. But the difference between Fala’s debut in 2005 and her improvement in 2008/2010, it’s a 3-5 year difference whereas, for Aimee, if you say she debuted in 2008, since her last drama in 2014 (Outbound Love), I can’t say there is a major improvement in acting. That is 6 years already.

  7. wait wasn’t she supposed to be in a new series with anthony wong? what happened to that?

  8. Can see who their baby inherited the funny long forehead from.

  9. aimee is attractive especially with her jovial smile can simply make the hard critics of her become soft again…she is indeed lucky as she got a smooth acting career to become lead actress in short time in TVB and then married to one of the most eligible rich bachelor in TVB… its like fairy tale life indeed

  10. Please retire and stay home be a housewife. Can’t stand her acting.

  11. she is beautiful and her acting is not bad.

  12. If Priscilla Wong can be an actress why not for Aimee Chan? she is better in both acting and beauty compared to Priscilla Wong.

    1. Why the comparison?

Priscilla is becoming a more promising newcomer, but she is in her 30’s already and it’s a little later than the usual TVB newbie. The fact that she is already getting more lead roles shows that TVB has intentions to promote her. Aimee is still the first supporting in most series. And I have a feeling she still wants to have another baby (not immediately according to them) before she returns. It’ll probably be at least another 3 years until she returns I’ll predict. She’ll be 36 at that time. Many artists make it to stardom in their later years and this trend has been quite popular for male artists (Wayne, Ruco, Edwin, etc.). I don’t have that much confidence for Aimee, however, even with Moses ‘ influence (they say). 😉

  13. I think she has potentials and shouldn’t give up her career.

  14. No big problem if she will retire soon…Acting skill is average to minus, outlooks performance also is average.

  15. i really like Aimee chan’s acting is not bad at all but i know that she has to look after her son!!!!!!!!

  16. Compared to newbies i think she is ok. tracy yip and Sire ma i cant stand their acting!!!

  17. Six words to describe Aimee Chan: Can’t ACT, NOT pretty, and CONNECTION. The End

  18. i don’t think Priscilla can acts. Her voice is horrible. I don’t know how she got promoted to lead actress so soon. She has connection from high rank management. TVB is all politics 🙁
