Aimee Chan Had Fight with Moses Chan Over Drama Role?

After giving birth eight months ago, Aimee Chan (陳茵媺) has been on maternity leave from TVB. Despite her extended leave, Aimee said she is still passionate about acting and denied giving up her career. Although Aiden Joshua is eight months old now, Aimee has yet to return to the small screen despite being offered roles from TVB.

Leung Choi Yuen (梁材遠), who produced Slow Boat Home <情越海岸線>, was looking to sign the entire cast from the show to new time-travelling series, Cheung Po Tsai <張保仔>. Seeing the potential in the grand production, Aimee initially wanted to take part in the filming but was met with husband Moses Chan’s (陳豪) disapproval. Moses previously stated that he will not object to Aimee returning to work after giving birth, but it seems as though he is going against his words – ultimately causing a rift between him and his wife.

Aimee decided to accommodate Moses and turned down the drama offer. Having made the decision, Aimee was unhappy about the choice and remained on poor terms with Moses, even ignoring him during their shopping trip this week. The couple had limited conversation and interaction. Aimee’s face remained expressionless and only smiled when playing with the baby while Moses wandered off to look at baby toys by himself.

  1. Aime is always expressionless so no new news there…yes, Moses! Keep your wife off the tv screen. YYou’re doing us all a favor yay.

    1. LOL … i echo everything you wrote, i was going to write the same.

      1. Yes yes Aimee stay at home! Great to know she won’t be acting for a while!

    2. Yes, and double ditto to everything above……Aimee is only going to torture the tv viewers some more if she comes back out to act.

      1. Yes, I agree with all of the above comments. Stay away, Aimee!

      2. We’ll at soon as Moses is alive she will get populuar and might get BA

    3. YESSSSSS agreed. at last, no more aimee chan = better drama

    4. So you’d all rather have awful actors/actresses like Linda Chung, Myolie Wu, Raymond Lam and Kenneth Ma fill your TV screens instead?!? I can see Aimee improving with time and practice. However, the four mentioned above, they’re continually awful and I don’t see them improving because they already have diehard fan bases, so there’s really no incentive to act better or try different roles.

      1. Yes, I agree. I think she is improving. Give her a chance. We need new faces and new blood from time to time. People learn from mistakes. As long as they take critics and improve, we can still give them a chance.

      2. Pls just don’t give her roles that require emotional/crying scenes. Just give her giggly bubbly ABC/CBC type of roles and she’s bearable i guess.

      3. @choco-bunny Uh, no. She’s so bad, she can’t even play CBC well

      4. @ Mt: I haven’t seen Aime improve from a series to the next. She has pretty much getting the same mary-sue roles where people magically and blindly fall in love and protective of her where she has nothing to give back. Her acting is the same and boring to ME. So, yes I rather see the 4 you mentioned on screen over Aimee because I think the 4 are better (not by much lol) actors/tresses than her. That’s just my own personal preference.

  2. Aiden Joshua or Aiden Joshua Chan? Is Joshua the surname or the middle name? They are both asian, right?

    1. Who cares. Asian or not, anyone can name their kids however they like.

    2. I believe that Aiden is the first name, Joshua is the middle name and Chan is the last name. Most people (non Asian) in North America have middle names in addition to their first names. I think it is very important especially for people with names like John Smith, James Clark. There are tons of people with these common and popular names. It is super important especially for the Department of Revenue (income tax or social security purposes) or Department of Transportation (for driving licences.

  3. I doubt this news is even true. Moses had always said that he doesn’t mind if Aimee wants to film in dramas again.

    1. I don’t trust Moses as he is a narrow-minded man. He refuses to kiss Myolie in their series, how can he allow Aimee to be back for acting? But he makes the right decision anyway. Thanks Moses.

      1. how is not kissing myolie narrow minded? how can you say mose is narrow minded person just because he refuse to kiss myolie? why do u think refusing to kiss myolie mean he wouldn’t agree with aimee going back to acting?

      2. Exactly. Moses just chose not to have those unnecessary intimate scenes with female artistes since he is a married guy with a wife. There is nothing to do with “narrow-minded”. People just don’t like Moses for any reasons.

      3. I don’t hate him. However, as a professional actor, he may refuse kissing scene if it is not necessary but not because he is married or just has kid. Once he admits that he is narrow-minded person.

    2. If Moses really objected Aimee to accept her role in “Cheung Po Tsai”, it was because the cast will be spending quite some time in shooting the drama series in Wuxi and Hengdian World Studios. As a result, Aiden will be neglected if Moses will also have to film drama series in Hong Kong.

I am sure Moses will have no objections if Aimee films drama series in Hong Kong.

      1. whats the big deal? he can always relies on their parents to look after his son or hire a nanny right? its just few month. i think he is afraid of ruco because aimee will probably pair up with him,he is just a one jealous guy.

      2. kolo, i also get the feeling that Moses doesn’t like Aimee filming with Ruco. Before Aimee officially became an item with Moses, Ruco and Aimee co-starred well in ROE, had great chemistry. It’s a different story with OL, they both looked so uncomfortable and awkward with each other. Even at the promotional events after aimee’s maternity leave.

      3. I think you guys were full of funny imaginations. Aimee Chan is not Ruco Chan’s type.

      4. Lol, I believe we all know that Ruco Chan has better taste than Moses. Moses just doesn’t have enough confident himself. He rejected to film Brother’s Keeper and now not allow his wife to film with Ruco.

      5. Why isn’t Aimee Ruco’s type? They do look compatible . Moses seems to hv some prejudice agst Ruco.

      6. Maybe he and she was to one another, hence the jealousy. Just my speculation.

      7. Aimee and Moses are both quite westernized as they both lived in the westernized countries for a while (Aimee in Canada and Moses in Australia). Ruco Chan is a typical Hongkong Chinese. His culture is quite different from Aimee’s no matter how people think that they are compatible.

      8. Not necessarily true but i get what you’re trying to say. Anyway no point arguing abt this as Aimee and Moses are already married and hv a kid. Just hv a gut feeling Moses doesn’t like Ruco for some reason or other or for no reason whatsoever besides irrational jealousy.

      9. westenized ppl are mostly open minded, how westernized can moses be if he prevent his wife from working? this is typical a traditional chinese action.on the other hand i think ruco would never control his wife like that.

      10. There are too many Ruco Chan’s fans here and very few Moses and Aimee’s fans. Period.

      11. Put it down to Moses’ own insecurity lol. Anyway I’m not complaining. Glad that Aimee’s not appearing in any new drama anytime soon.

      12. “imee and Moses are both quite westernized ”

Interesting because if indeed it is Moses’ wish, isn’t this the most asian way of thinking? Mother stay home to take care of baby because husband says so. Not westernised to me.

      13. Just because Aimee will have to leave home (and Aiden) for a few months if she accepts her role in “Cheung Po Tsai”, and Aiden is still young right now and will be better taken care by his mother.

I don’t think Moses will object Aimee to film drama series in Hong Kong though.

      14. sandcherry,

I guess there must be no chinatown in Canada (I believe there is where you’re from). To me, Moses is as typical HK chinese as Ruco despite having been living in Australia for quite some time (Sdyney = a lot of chinese and asian people).

      15. Btw, not a fan of Ruco and not a hater of Moses. Just pointed out facts to argue sandcherry’s statement. Period.

      16. Not all Chinese Canadians are very westernized, especially if you are the 1st generation. 2nd generations are more open-minded. Moses is a 1st generation Chinese Australian; he when to Australia when he was already 16 or so years old. Therefore, he may not be that westernized in his mindset. He may be westernized in his living habits only. Aimee Chan should be more westernized vs. Moses Chan.

      17. Male chauvinist pigs are not exclusive to Asia or Chinese societies. Anyway i don’t think we can say that Moses is that westernised since he moved to Australia when he was already quite old and was prob brought up in a typical Chinese family.

      18. Yes, it is true that male chauvinist pigs are not exclusive to Asia or Chinese societies only. But it is much more rampant in asian, arabian, and african societies. Period.

    3. I think Moses does support her decision to make a come back but probably just not at this time. Maybe he does not feel the time is right for her to come back yet? They definately can afford to hire a nanny to help so Aimee can come back to work and take care of the baby when she is free. Who said that everyone has to or has the option of giving up their career just because they have kids?

      1. if he can’t keep his word then he should never make a promise.if you are in aimee’s shoes how do you have feel then?

  4. ..what modern man in this day and age have a name “Moses”.

    1. Maybe he thought himself as ‘Moses’. Is he christian or what?

My friend’s friend’s friend’s friend named himself ‘Jesus’ as his english name. I have even seen somebody’s english name as ‘Allah’. Both are also asian.

      1. And don’t forget Tavia, Bosco, Kingdom, Water, Watermelon, Apple, Orange, Banana, Mango, Lemon, Strawberry, June, July, Myolie, Niki, etc.

        Asians have weird english names.

      2. How about Mangosteen, Cantaloupe, Avocado, Rambutan, Longan, Dragonfruit, Quava, “Watermelon, Apple, Orange, Banana, Mango, Lemon, and Strawberry” to make smoothies?

    2. There was a guy in high school who named himself Aristotle (after the famous Greek scholar?). If I was a friend, I’d feel sort of strange calling him by that name.

    3. Moses is a common name. My friend name is Moses and he is staying in UK.

    4. I dunno, maybe one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Moses Malone.

  5. Why not? Doesn’t sound bad or anything. Who cares if it doesn’t sound modern?

  6. Next time use a condom. Then you won’t have all this mess to deal with.

  7. Maybe he thinks filming that series is not good for Aimee and their son. It will have to film outside of HK for a long while. During this period, it’s better for her to film something around HK.

  8. Agree with you, May and Ki. Asians have weird English names. My husband lol when he heard it.
Even name of “Power”. Hi Power equal to Hi Strength.

Maybe they think it’s unique such names. But to ….it’s funny & humorous! Sure is. Entertainment?

    1. C’mon not just Asians. Look at names of some of Hollywood’s celebrity kids for example.

  9. Never a fan of hers so I won’t be missing her at all.

  10. First, no Bosco, now, no Aimee. Yay! More reason to watch Cheung Po Tsai!

  11. Heard Aimee was supposed to be in Ghost Dragon of Cold Mountain. Thank goodness she was not cast in that role. So much more enjoyable with Lin Xia Wei who turns out to be pretty good in that role.

  12. Gosh you guys are such moaners: Non of you know Aimee, Moses or Ruco personally and i doubt you’ll ever will so how can you make such remarks on their ‘supposedly’ thinking. I doubt any of you are prettier than Aimee or can act half as good as her. Too many people with too many opinions around – bunch of weirdos go and find something more constructive to do & say.

    1. You’re right. Non of us know Ruco, Moses, or Aimee personally but we all watch their series and see their acting. We are not comparing them with ourselves but with other actors and actresses, then leave our constructive criticism. I also believe that some of us are prettier than Aimee just because you don’t know us personally. After our day long making ourselves useful for the sake of the society, we come here to share our opinion. If I were them, I would take these comments with appreciating to help them be better and I think they would do that. Anyway, thanks for reading our comments and leaving your opinion.

    2. oh wow! How constructive is yr criticism of others’ comments? If it bothers you so much, you should just read the article and skip the comments. The comments section is available for the purpose of allowing readers to leave comments, just like what you’re doing now.

  13. This world is full of negatives already with wars going on around the world. Bring more peace & positives into the world and stop all this behind the pc biatching. Get a life. Go and make yourself useful for the sake of the society.

    1. Agree with you. I like Moses but I prefer to ignore all these nonsenses.

    2. If you bought an apple from a store and the apple was rotten, what would you do:
      a) spit it out and tell others not to buy from that store
      b) eat it and tell others to buy from that store
      c) do nothing so others can suffer as well

  14. There is a saying “if you have nothing positive to say then it’s better to remain silent”

I agree that you should make constructive comments for actor/actress to improve their acting definitely but we should also be considerate and understand that they need chances and time to improve. A precious rock is never perfect without being polish. So hope you guys give these actor/actress that haven’t quite become a siu sang yet more support so that we can have a more diverse group of good actor/actress in the future.

  15. What is wrong with giving feedback? Seems no one is allowed to speak their mind anymore because of over sensitivity. In that case, there is no point to giving reviews or having opinions about anything anymore.

  16. This is such great news! Watching her in TVB drama is a torture. Linda Chung should also be taken off screen, please!
