Bobby Au Yeung’s Impressions of Joey Meng, Ada Choi, and Esther Kwan

Throughout his acting career, Bobby Au Yeung (歐陽震華) has collaborated with several veteran actresses more than once. As a close friend to his female costars, he expressed that each of them offers a different vibe when they work together. In a joint interview with Joey Meng (萬綺雯), Bobby shares his thoughts on collaborating with her, as well as with Ada Choi (蔡少芬) and Esther Kwan (關詠荷).

Bobby offered his opinion of each actress honestly. In terms of Ada, he revealed, “Working with her feels very comfortable. However, she talks a lot and is really noisy. Haha, you’ll have to wear earplugs if you’re going to collaborate with her!” Moving on to Esther, Bobby expressed, “Compared to Ada, Esther is a lot more serious. You can really feel her presence in a scene! It’s really difficult to control her while filming. I feel a bit pressured when working with her.”

Speaking of Joey, Bobby remarked, “We collaborate very well together, because as an actress, she is willing to take whichever position the actor offers. She is like a sponge; if you use a lot of strength, she will retreat to accommodate you. Joey is a good opponent offered to me by God. She is a simple woman, and her innocence is hard to find in other actresses. It is also her innocence that brings out my special qualities as an actor in the dramas.”

On the other hand, Joey expressed that she completely does not mind when Bobby takes the lead and serves as the guide in a series. She added that they are supposed to collaborate in another series this year, but the idea was abandoned due to conflicting schedules. Joey praised Bobby for being a professional actor who deserves to be admired, because he is willing to sacrifice his hours of sleep in order to alter the script to make it better.

However, Bobby once received a complaint from another artiste that claimed his habit of changing the script led to a poor flow of dialogue. Bobby explained that he only altered his own script to enhance it, but would never alter his opponent’s script. In fact, producer Mui Siu Ching (梅小青) had approved the changes Bobby made at the time, although she usually did not support such behaviour from the cast.
