August 15th was Kevin Cheng Ka Wing’s forty-first birthday. Despite the occasion, Kevin had to jump from a tall building while filming for Home Army <居家兵團>with Bernice Liu Bik Yee. In the scene, while trying to stop Raymond Cho Wing Lim’s suicide, Kevin and Bernice ended up falling off the building instead. Although stunt doubles were on set, Kevin and Bernice had to jump from the sixth floor for the camera requirements.
The cast and crew prepared a birthday cake for Kevin. Co-star, Raymond Cho, said smartly, “I wish Kevin celebrates his birthday the same way every year,” referencing the dangerous stunt performed earlier. Kevin smiled and said, “Yes, that’s a really good friend!”
When reporters asked whether Bernice gave Kevin a birthday kiss, she joked, “I respect him as a veteran actor. It should not be me celebrating with him anyway!”
Kevin Received Charmaine’s Birthday Wishes
Since Kevin already celebrated his birthday with friends earlier, he ate dinner with his family last night. Regarding his birthday wish, Kevin said, “I wish for good health. Although I realize rumors are rampant in the entertainment industry, I hope to have less rumors and make more money.”
“Liza Wang Ming Chuen gave me a lucky packet and asked me when I intend to get married. She advised me to work hard within the next five years and date later. When I said five years is too long to wait, Liza said I should start dating first.”

HeTieShou, it’s a known “secret” that Charmaine and Kevin are dating. That’s why I am surprised the media keep publishing rubbish about Charmaine and Moses, who is still obviously dating Bernice Liu.

Her fans are denying that they’re dating. From reports they may have broken up. Frankly I do think they’re dating. Just admit it come on! Not that they’re teen idols.
HeTieShou, Niki Chow and Kevin Cheng were dating underground for 5 years before they broke up.
HeTieShou, it was widely reported that Kevin fell for Charmaine while Niki was filiming “Legend of Book and Sword” in China. Right after the break-up, Niki seemed very hurt and even spoke quite openly about the “love triangle” to Ming Pao Weekly (I do not remember all of its contents).
In that article, I think Charmaine had said she is currently friends with Kevin, but will not dismiss the possibility of further development, as she does not know what will happen in the future. IMO, that’s as blunt as Charmaine can be that she had feelings for Kevin.
Kevin said he never two-timed anyone. Perhaps he met Charmaine and had good feelings about her and then decided to end the relationship. In the same Mingpao Weekly article, he had mentioned he wanted a mature, understanding woman (seeming to refer to Charmaine’s type), while hinting that Niki may have been higher maintenance.
During the filming of “Beyond the Realm of Conscience,” Charmaine and Kevin were often teased about their rumors.
As to current speculation that Charmaine and Kevin’s romance may be over, this could be due to:
1. Niki/ Kevin/ Charmaine love triangle. Niki seemed shocked and hurt; Kevin probably asked for the break-up. Niki was portrayed by the media as the injured party, while Charmaine and Kevin were portrayed unflatteringly by the media for sometime. TVB’s Virginia Lok probably advised Kevin and Charmaine to keep their romance low profile to avoid further negative publicity.
2. Charmaine and Kevin are rarely photographed hanging out together (probably due to above reasons), thus adding to speculation that they are no longer together.
3. Bernice Liu’s response towards Kevin during the filming of “Home Army”. She draws a very clear line between herself and Kevin, citing his “old age” as an absolute reason for disinterest, which leaves no room for argument. Aside from dating Moses, I think Bernice knows Kevin is in a relationship (many artists know each others’ dating partners since it’s a small circle, but they don’t talk to the press as a “code of honor”). Also Bernice said that it will not be up to her to celebrate Kevin’s birthday, hinting at his girlfriend.
Usually if an artist’s relationship is over, he’ll say stuff like they haven’t contacted each other for a long time. IMO, Kevin is still with Charmaine.
Frankly I would think Charmaine is a better partner for Kevin because Nikki just gives me an impression is is not mature type. I always thought Kevin would prefer someone older and quieter like Charmaine and I like the idea of both of them together and like you Jayne I think they’re an item. As for Charmaine, she seems to prefer Kevin sort of guys except for Benny Chan who yacks a lot surprisingly. I still maintain Charmaine’s ideal man was perhaps Chilam who was unfortunately married/attached. Because all these men seems rather similar to Chilam sort of persona on the surface. If Kevin broke up with Nikki before starting a relationship with Charmaine, I think that is proper. Charmaine going out only with him after the breaking up is also proper. I do not believe Charmaine would instigate Kevin for the breakup. He is a grown man, he knows what he wants so frankly however the media portrays them, especially Kevin as the cold hearted one with Nikki the broken hearted one, look, if they’re married with kids and this happened, it will make Kevin a jerk and heartless bastard. With them unmarried and without any promise of marriage or anything, yes he may be a jerk but I think he did right. For once I believe Charmaine is the innocent 3rd party.
As for Bernice and her reasons, isn’t Moses as old? Just say “I am taken”. I hate it when artistes clearly dating denies it all. Hypocrites. In Kevin’s situation it is too soon to announce but since some time has passed with so many break up rumours, it is perhaps time to just admit and move on.
Maybe they did break up. I can’t see how a secretive relationship could ever survive as it is built on lies upon lies.

Kevin got a new gossip now with some mainland model. Apparently the reporter got a photograph of them peeking out mysteriously from behind some curtains or windows.
Perhaps someone can help me understand. Is it because of the Asian culture or is it in their written contract that actors/actresses can not date? I would suspect that in today’s age, these things should be more open. Look at the American media, they date, marry, divorce, and remarry whoever they want and there are still fans willing to accept them? Are Asian fans in general more close-minded? I believe that starting a relationship should be the happiest thing in the world, why hide? I am not even sure how “ah Sa” was able to hide her marriage for so many years.
I agree totally with you, jayzemine, that there’s no reason why any couple dating should hide it from the public. Besides, it may even give the impression that there’s something wrong in that,I mean, letting people know that you were in love and dating. However, all these rumours re Kevin and Charmaine dating are just rumours, I gather, although I just hope it’s true! And now, we get news that they have parted. Oh dear, I really don’t know what to think of it.Now, if Kevin and Myolie are not careful they’ll soon end up with rumours like the others.
