Chilam Cheung Prepares for Hollywood Film “Final Score”

Chilam Cheung (張智霖) is very nervous about his upcoming role in the Hollywood film Final Score, a Scott Man-directed action thriller about a group of armed criminals seizing a stadium during the middle of a major sports event.

The movie also stars former 007 star Pierce Brosnan, as well as Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista.

At an event with singer Kelly Chen (陳慧琳) on Friday, Chilam said Final Score will be his first Hollywood film, and he will be flying to London soon to do principal photography.

“I’ve never done a western film before,” said Chilam. “All of my dialogue will be in English. Although I do speak English a lot, this will be my first time acting with an English script. I’m quite nervous and I feel the pressure.”

“I’ve already contacted Gregory Rivers (何國榮),” said Chilam with a laugh. The Australian-born Gregory Rivers is a former TVB actor who is known for speaking fluent Cantonese. “Gregory has a lot of experience when it comes to teaching actors on speaking.”

Chilam stressed that he won’t have a big role in the film, saying, “I think the learning experience is more important. I do have quite a lot of dialogue, but I won’t have action scenes.” Chilam revealed that he will be shooting the movie until mid-September.

  1. Awesome! This is his lucky break into Hollywood ~
Hope his performance (regardless if its a small role) will capture the eye of other directors that can give him more opportunity to film quality American movies. Starring alongside Peirce Brosnan is pretty big already.

Most notable Hong Kong actors thats made it to Hollywood are Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun-Fat, Jet Li, Maggie Q, Shu Qi, and most recently – Daniel Wu.

I will definitely watch the movie, I like Cheung Chi Lam! He’s good!

    1. @shimmerstars

hate to burst your bubble, but Simon Yam and Terence Yin costarred with Angelina Jolie a few years ago, but Hollywood opportunities didn’t follow. The others also made it to there, but with the exception of Maggie Q, all went back to HK. They would’ve ended up merely as B or C listers if they had opted to stay.

      1. @msxie0714 Asian actresses have better opportunities than actors, since Hollywood (run mostly by white males) have a fetish for Asian women. Sad, but true.

      2. @msxie0714 Agree, but at least they were given chances to star/co-star in major Hollywood films. Asian (and even Asian-American) actors get a lot less opportunities. If they do, they’re usually minor & stereotypical roles.
