Christine Kuo Wants to Lose Weight Fast

TVB star Christine Kuo (苟芸慧) and Japanese model-actress Linah (松岡李那) were invited to the grand opening event of the Yata Department Store in Tsuen Wan earlier this week. The gorgeous Linah was dressed up in a cute and festive “cabbage” dress, taking over the spotlight of Christine, who opted to wear a tight white sweater and bright green pants.

“I am presented as the ambassador today. [The organizers] want me to wear clothes that fit my identity,” Christine explained. “We want to encourage people to eat more vegetables!”

While dancing with the department store’s bear mascot with Linah, the reporters noticed that Christine had trouble catching up with the others and had difficulty in dancing to the song’s beat. “I wasn’t expecting to perform such big dance moves! It was funny. I was afraid that [the mascot] would hit me accidentally; he was pretty strong. So I stood farther away, but then I couldn’t see his intricate dance. I didn’t know what to do for a moment.”

On mentioning that Aaron Kwok (郭富城), Christine’s rumored boyfriend, could teach her how to dance, Christine smiled and praised, “I don’t think he’ll have time to teach me! But I have been to his concert before, and he is very good at dancing. His moves are very sharp, and that is where he succeeds. He is extremely talented!”

Under pressure to lose weight, Christine expressed that she is currently on a strict diet regime. Aside from taking traditional Chinese medicine, Christine has added more greens to her diet. She said, “I stopped consuming carbohydrates. I eat less meat and vegetables are the main dish when I eat hot pot. I really want to go back to how I was originally, to show a healthier side of myself. I admit I was a bit unhappy when I was getting criticized for my weight. I felt that even the little improvements I have made [in my career] were discarded. I felt despair.”

  1. Christine, you are just beautiful the way you are. You are NOT fat or obese. You ARE HEALTHY LOOKING.
You have your own natural look and beauty. Who wants to look like a stereotypical skinny actress….??

    1. for asia/hongkong world. chubby = obesity. ppl r rude and mean to you if u look like a cute butterball.

      1. ”HK girls seem too skinny in general, perhaps they starve their body and use food allowance on designer hangbags, fancy dresses, suffocating boots, animal body part perfume, animal tasted cosmetics and have surgery if so desire: an implant or facelift or fat suction.”

      2. I just don’t get those people living in HK and their standards of a “NICE BODY”. Kenix Kwok looks scary with her anorexic self and same to the majority of HK actresses. I actually thought Gigi lai has an awesome body. She’s slim but has something on her, not all bones

    2. She ballooned to 68kg.
If that’s not obese for a girl, then you are probably surround by fat people.

      1. Omg even im lighter than Christine… just abit lighter

      2. Please … there’s something called muscle mass and height that you neglected to factor in.

So – to counter your comment, no I am not surrounded by fat people but I am surrounded by people who have built a lot of muscle mass and are genetically taller than 5’4, which would make 150lbs/68kgs fat.

      3. pandamao, Have you even seen a recent picture of Christine at 68kg. Stop kidding yourself, go see how fat she is and you too will laugh at your stupid defense of her being “HEALTHY LOOKING” and “muscle mass” BS.

      4. is that even her now? I watched her recent youtube clip attached in this article and she does not look like that picture.

let’s compare apples to apples instead of grabbing some dated picture.

good riddance. not getting another comment from me. waste of time.

      5. she’s that fat? thought she’s at normal weight no wonder she lost that spokesperson deal! well when you have zero talent and only need to depend on looks this is what happen when looks get worse

  2. Healthy slim is the ideal measurement not looking like a walking skeleton.

  3. She has a great body and I don’t think she’s fat.

    1. of course not. 68kg is not fat at all for a girl…

      1. … She can be a plus size model, if there is any in Asia that is. :/

  4. OMG … the media should stop focusing on a woman’s weight … very bad example for teens … no wonder the world is full on people with eating disorders. As long as she eats healthy, live a healthy lifestyle and maintain her weight within her standards, not one placed by the public, she’s setting a good example to those who looks up to her, if she public say she’s scaling back, she should look at what it might do to young women

  5. Poor girl. It seems that the news about her is hardly ever pretty. Rumored relationships, rumoured to be someone’s third wheel and now her weight gain.

  6. honestly not overweight!!! just no talent!!
Only talent is shes’s attractive, that’s why she believes she needs to lose weight because if the audience doesn’t find her attractive then she has No Career! Truth!

    1. agree! she has no talents and can only depend on her inborn and made up looks that’s why she’s in triuble when her looks fade!

  7. She said, “I stopped consuming carbohydrates. I eat less meat and vegetables are the main dish when I eat hot pot.
    =====
Don’t do these fad diets Christine, nor do you need “traditional medicines”… if you want to lose weight, the key is calorie count and exercise. Nothing fancy or gimicky needed at all.

  8. In my humble opinion, an overweight woman can look just as good and even better than a slender one, if she knows how to dress up properly. However Christie in those pics does not look very flattering and her biggest problem is not even her weight but her acting skills.

  9. Some people just gain weight easily, I think she probably that type of person.
Unfortunately weight is everything in entertainment world. Actually depend on her height. If she is like 5’7″ 68 kg probably not that bad. A little chubby but definitely not overweight. Good luck on your diet!!…

  10. Christine’s BMI is at normal weight. She’s is tall so if she’s 5’9 then it’s normal. She would considered to be overweight if shes short. Asian people are crazy!

    1. I agree. I would not consider her “fat” in those pictures, probably just having a bad taste in clothes. She is still healthy.

But I can’t help but agree with the other comments that a blow to her physical attractiveness is more costly to Christine than to other actresses because appearances are Christine’s main, if not only, charm.

  11. Love current TVB beauty Christine & Eliza 😛 Hopefully both of them aren’t too skinny like walking skeleton…

  12. If Christine is really 1.7m tall and weight abt 68kg, yes she is still have a healthy BMI, but also narrowly reaching overweight.

If she intend to stay in Asian entertainment circle (which include making a living endorsing products, modelling and stuff), she need to shave off at least 10kg, in order to fit the ideal beauty standard of Asian celebrity.

    1. But standards can change (albeit over a LONNGGG period of time). Why are we just conforming and encouraging it? A strict diet plus heavy workload is never a good idea. I remember seeing a clip of Michelle Ye fainting on stage (as do a lot of K-pop idols) and I wondered whether that was due to stress/fatigue from starving herself and/or overworking.

      —————-

Even before word got out that she’s 68kg (or that picture of her in the blue dress was released), people had already labelled her as chubby/fat. How sad that she’s having to lose weight to gain the respect of those who are flinging crap at her right now…

    2. Why are we just conforming and encouraging it?

If anyone want to be plus size, or any weight that is comfortable to them, so be it. But that doesn’t mean we need to throw shades at people preferring to look slim (read: slim doesn’t mean stick thin) as well.

      1. The problem is her occupation. She want to be a celebrity, an actress and it inflates 3 inch onscreen. It’s the same problem faced by Bernice too, but at least Bernice was blessed with balanced weight distribution on her body.
      2. Take a look at TVB leading actors – most of them have small to medium frame size, which makes pairing visual with Christine awkward.

  13. I have nothing against non skinny actresses in fact I think all HK actors are super small and underweight. Christine Kuo needs to work on her speaking. I’m relenting on her accent (she really needs to practice Cantonese), but even her English is awfully paced. I find it really hard to connect to her when all I can see are foreign born/raised actresses around her who at least try and showcase some charm.

    Examples:
    Angela Tong
    Eliza
    Linda Chung
    Grace Wong
    Michelle Ye

    1. Absolutely!! Nevermind her weight need to concentrate her Cantonese

  14. No matter what we want her to do, maintain her healthy but slightly chubby body or lose weight, the final decision is hers. It is a waste of time here to talk about her weight or overweight! There have been too many articles talking about her weight.

Christine should work on her acting skills and Cantonese. If she acts well, people would think highly of her as an actress and not as a goddess with just a pretty face and nice figure.

    1. In fact, why should we worry and talk about Christine’s weight? It is hers, not ours. She knows better if she has to keep her current weight or lose some pounds!!
