Donnie Yen Still Not Done with “Star Wars: Rogue One”

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is less than six months away before it hits the big screens, but Donnie Yen (甄子丹) said he’s still not done with the movie.

This week, Donnie made an appearance with his wife, Cissy Wang (汪詩詩), at a tea brand event. As an avid tea consumer, the martial arts actor said tea is healthy for the body and mind, adding that it is also an important aspect of Chinese culture.

The Ip Man <葉問> actor shared that he has just completed the principal photography for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and has been spending his down time in Hong Kong with his family. Asking if he plans to celebrate upcoming Father’s Day with the kids, Donnie revealed, “I can’t. My wife and I will be flying to Japan in two days for a project. After that, I’ll be flying all over the place for some more work. I’m going to have to go back to London soon too, to do some additional photography for Rogue One.”

Due to his filming obligations for Hollywood’s Rogue One and XXX: The Return of Xander Cage, Donnie’s been overseas the past nine months. He said he doesn’t want miss any more time with his kids.

Asking if he would turn down more overseas jobs so he can stay in Hong Kong with the kids, Donnie said, “It was never really about the money. I picked up those jobs because they were a rare opportunity. I did Rogue One because my kids are huge fans of Star Wars. As for XXX, I was attracted to the role. It’s not a role that many Chinese actors would take, so I feel quite proud of it!”

Have the kids prepared any Father’s Day gifts for Donnie? Cissy said, “Our son drew a card for him. He wasn’t supposed to give it to him until later, but Donnie took a peek at it. Donnie was happy, but our son was not.”

  1. I wonder how much screen time he has in ‘Rogue One’. Is it worth the ticket price only to see him?
