Cecilia Cheung (陳冠希) and Nicholas Tse’s (謝霆鋒) divorce became official this week, after their divorce papers were approved by the court.  Although Edison Chen’s (陳冠希) name was often linked to the pair due to the 2008 nude photo scandal, Edison claimed that he should not be blamed as the trigger in Cecilia and Nicholas’ divorce. He still considered Nicholas to be his friend.

“Don’t Blame Me!”

In May 2011, Cecilia and Nicholas’ marital problems came to light after she and Edison coincidentally met on an airplane flight. Following Edison’s admission that Cecilia had requested to take a photo together, Nicholas was rumored to be extremely upset. Cecilia and Nicholas’ marital crisis strengthened, until the pair finally filed for divorce last August.

Although Edison was used to being a “dart board” in which vehement blame was thrown upon him, he did not believe that he was the trigger in Cecilia and Nicholas’ divorce. In an interview with Now TV, Edison said, “The media spun this story. I do not believe that I have the power to make their marriage end! There is no need to pity me. They (Cecilia and Nicholas) should be pitied instead; there is a lot of stress for a divorced couple. The sinner’s label has been tattooed on my body; many reports of this type has made ​​me numb already!”

“Nicholas Tse Is Still My Friend!”

Asked directly if he still had romantic feelings towards Cecilia Cheung, Edison took a deep breath before stating, “Why don’t you find a group of writers to write a script? I want to film a movie again. I do not mind; you can write anything! But Nicholas Tse is still my friend; this will affect him! I mind a little, little bit!”

Trained Mental Strength

Since the 2008 nude photo scandal, Edison Chen became Hong Kong’s greatest “sex sinner.”  His popularity plummeted, his film career died, and he lost a lot of friends. Due to the immense pressure, he had a mentality of “getting ready to die.” After overcoming the greatest scandal in his career to-date, Edison had nothing else left to fear.

After the nude photo scandal occurred, Edison lived in the United States to lessen the public pressure. His actions were often branded as an avoidance of responsibility. Edison was criticized in leaving the women involved in the photo scandal to deal with the pressure on their own.

Edison explained, “If I did not go to the United States, I would have gone crazy! This would prompt me do crazy things, making the incident spiral into greater controversy. I was not running away to the United States; I went there to live. I learned how to enjoy life.”

Since the scandal, Edison’s priorities in life has changed. “If you asked me what I wanted 5 years ago, my answer would have been: money, money, money! My needs are more simple now; I learned to enjoy life.”

Confusing Love Life

Despite drawing distance from the 2008 nude photo scandal as much as possible, Edison was still frequently asked in interviews regarding the incident. This remained as the most shattering sex scandal in the Hong Kong entertainment in recent years. While Edison asked the media to focus on his work instead, the public remained fixated on his sex life and eager to consume rumors revolving around Edison’s myriad women.

In recent months, Edison has been romantically linked with numerous starlets. Aside from 17-year-old model Cammi Tse (謝芷蕙), Edison denied that he had dated the other women, whom he believed had used his name for publicity.

“Many people have used me. In the past, I would be very angry. Now I will face them directly. From a certain standpoint, I am helping someone else. But I do not welcome other people using me!”

Still Believes in Love

Edison had declared recently that he still thought of his ex-girlfriend, Vincy Yeung (楊永晴). He repeated, “At this moment, love is confusing for me. I did not give up on my ex-girlfriend. Time will prove everything. Perhaps now is not a good time to pursue this relationship.”

Still eager to find true love, Edison possessed dreams of getting married, having a family and children.

I do believe that he loves Vincy Yeung, as he often brings her name up in interviews. Did they break up because he had too many women that he was linked to?
