Edwin Siu Develops Shingles from Overwork

Edwin Siu (蕭正楠) is not in his best shape. The Brother’s Keeper 2 <巨輪II> actor, who is currently shooting his new period drama Wulin Revival <翻生武林>, is so stressed with work that he has developed the shingles.

The 39-year-old actor said, “I got bitten a while back when we had outdoor shooting. It gave me rashes and allergies. I couldn’t breathe and couldn’t sleep. It weakened my immune system so that’s probably why I developed the shingles.”

Edwin did not treat his shingles immediately, as he thought they were bug bites. It wasn’t until a few days later when he started to feel pain that he realized that the rashes on his back were much more serious.

“I’ve always been very mindful of my health, but my hectic filming schedule has really consumed all of my energy,” said Edwin. He shared that he is taking antibiotics and his wounds are already healing up.

“There’s still three weeks of filming left,” he said. “We only had one incident where he had to stop filming for a night. Now that I’m getting better I will try to get as much rest as I can between breaks.”

After completing Wulin Revival, Edwin will be gearing up for a new Marco Law (羅永賢) drama with Kristal Tin (田蕊妮), Rosina Lam (林夏薇), and close friend Raymond Cho (曹永廉). Their new drama, temporarily titled Shuttle Through 400 Years <穿梭四白年>, stars Edwin as a Ming Dynasty general who gets transported to the present time while trying to find his princess.
