Fala Chen (陳法拉), Michael Tse (謝天華), Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) and Kate Tsui (徐子珊) promoted TVB series, Lives of Omission <潛行狙擊>, which will air on August 1, 2011 in Hong Kong. Fala praised Michael that he knew how to respect other people. “Michael greatly respected me. In the kissing scenes, he took care to not overdo it or will take advantage of the camera angles. I do not like to film kissing and bed scenes. I do not mind action scenes. I am afraid of saliva the most, since it’s unhygienic!” (Was Fala afraid that her boyfriend, Sit Sai Hang, would be jealous?) “I pretend that he will not watch the scenes!”
Bosco revealed that Kate complained about their kissing scenes. Bosco said, “She said my mustache poked at her.” (Was Bosco afraid of romantic rumors with Kate?) “No, we’ll just treat it as publicity for the series!”
Kate laughed, “My father also has a mustache. I felt it was odd to film kissing scenes with Bosco. It was very awkward.”

I did notice that Fala has the least kiss scenes compared the other rising fadans. I’m surprised that she can even have a choice to decline them! If there is great opportunities in the role and script, I wonder how often actresses will “negotiate” how much kissing scenes there are in the series? I guess it also depends on how comfortable they are with the kissing partner, too!
I guess Fala compensates for the lack of kissing scenes with more sexy attires and shows a little more skin compared to the rest.

I agree and I am actually surprised as well that she even has the option of declining… She isn’t even that popular but is demanding this and that…. I wonder why they accommodated her?? If she is only playing supporting roles and is already having a diva attitude, I really wonder how she would be if she were really popular one day(which I sort of doubt but who knows the future??)?

Fala’s role in “Lives of Omission” is considered female lead actress over Kate Tsui’s billing in the series.
I don’t think Fala’s aversion to kissing stems from a diva attitude. Since I believe that she is already married to Sit Sai Hang, perhaps the Sit family may have voiced objection to her intimate scenes. She has hinted many times that she wants children in interviews. I also suspect that the Sit family has already been tolerant of her acting profession, thus Fala may have stayed away from kissing scenes for this reason.
There has been a lot of hearsay regarding Fala’s marital status. Based on dating news with Sit and how comfortable she is in talking about him in every article, she seems to be in a very firm and settled relationship. Also, she calls Sit Sai Hang “hubby” in private. Is it also a reflection of their marital status?

Thanks for the info, but I still think that IF you are a professional actress, you would still do what you need to do whether you are married or not. There are many other actresses that are married and still do intimate scenes or whatever else is needed. If she really doesn’t want to do intimate scenes, then she honestly should just stop acting all together and do something else. From what you are saying, I think her in laws are not crazy for her acting career which is at times one of the main reasons why many actresses retire once they are married. When a woman gets married, her status changes and sadly there are times that she has to change careers or even give up on it due to certain circumstances. In Fala’s case, I guess she is greedy and wants to best of everything…

According to an earlier tabloid, Fala incurred the wrath of Miu Siu Ching on the set of “Can’t Buy Me Love” by refusing a kissing scene with Kenneth Ma. Allegedly, the kissing scene was written in the script when Fala accepted the role. However, right before the kissing scene was filmed, Fala voiced her objection and thus upset Producer Miu. Allegedly, this was the reason Fala was replaced by Kate Tsui (one of Producer Miu’s favorites) in “Can’t Buy Me Love 2.”
Perhaps Fala relied on her charm and good relationships with past directors and producers to avert kissing scenes where possible. However, passionate scenes seem to be a necessity in modern dramas and especially films, so I don’t see how she can avoid them if she wants to build her career.
I agree. Kissing scenes are more necessary in modern dramas. I believe French kissing wasn’t that popular back in the ancient days and I find it a bit awkward to find people back then French kiss, lol~ Maybe because they were more conservative and traditional?
Acting is acting and it’s suppose to be professional. Even if Fala was married, I don’t understand why she would try to opt out of kissing scenes. I agree it’s unhygienic with the saliva-sharing and all, but if it’s necessary to have the effect on the scene, then she should just do it. In the Can’t Buy Me Love case, it’s more understandable since it’s ancient and with or without the scene, the series would have been equally crappy. Speaking from hindsight bias.
A few days ago, I was reading an article and a reporter asked Mariam Yeung about any possible kissing scenes in her new film. She said her husband doesn’t stop her from doing it for her work, but refused to watch her kissing scenes with Raymond Lam in Perfect Wedding. Hmm, I wonder if Sit Sai Hung doesn’t want Fala to do it and he really minds? LOL… aww.
I totally agree with you Jayne and I honestly find Fala very annoying. If she really wants to build and advance in her career, then she should not be so picky about this and that. I find that very unprofessional. If she is married and doesn’t want to get intimate with other men, then she honestly should just stop acting all together because she cannot avoid getting intimate and kissing other actors when acting all the time. It’s not like her acting is that good anyways.
I also wanted to add that I am glad that Kate is replacing her in Can’t buy me Love 2. Too bad Kenneth and others from part 1 will not be in it. I just hope that the plot is good…
I’m not particularly excited to hear that Kate is replacing Fala in CBML2 because I’m just sad that they will be filming one in the first place.

I don’t know why kissing is a necessity nowadays. A lot of movies can work well without kissing scenes. Wholesome romantic comedy like CBML actually doesn’t need one. They can show love by other means. It’s ancient series anyway.
Didn’t Linda and Charmaine have kissing scenes? The accidental kiss doesn’t count.
I disagree that an actress or actor is unprofessional if he/she doesn’t want to kiss. Different people have different value and limit. What’s important is said actress need to be careful in choosing script and voice out her terms before accepting the movie. Changing the mind last minute is unprofessional. So, I agree that this time Fala is being unprofessional.
But, refusing to cross one’s personal limit isn’t unprofessional. As long as he/she put her/his heart into the acting and take it seriously and be punctual and follow the agreed upon contract, I think she’s/he’s professional enough.
I rather they don’t kiss if they’re gonna kiss like Moses. I mean if kiss, do it properly. I feel you can have your own personal boundaries but you are only able to impose that personal boundaries if you’re famous enough. Is Fala at that stage?

To be able to negotiate and don’t get people mad means Fala has great relations with the producer and scriptwriter. Her status in this series also is better than Kate since she’s billed as leading female. She has better social skills than Kate?

I agree with Kidd. I mean just because they are actors, doesn’t mean that they have to do everything the producer says. I know that some actresses like Jessica Alba refuse to do nudity scenes and it’s their personal beliefs so there’s nothing wrong with not doing a kissing scene. But she should have made that clear before accepting the role, knowing that a kissing scene was already in the script.
Besides, a kissing scene does not a good series make, although CBML was hopeless to begin with. I like it when the kiss makes sense and it enhances the mood of the scene but nowadays there is just too much kissing in TVB series. Sometimes when things are left unsaid or unacted, it adds to the effect and makes it that more more meaningful.

Actually it is kind of good if there is not going to be a Can’t Buy Me love 2 since I wonder what they would talk about anyways… TVB may make one if they really run out of stories because they constantly pump out series after series.
As an actor/actress, I feel that you always should do what is needed as long as it is not really crossing the line. I don’t see the big deal with kissing scenes.Even if you are married, your husband/wife should understand that if you are an actor/actress, then it is just part of your job. If it were sex scenes, then I can understand. In modern series, kissing scenes are at times a necessity and can’t be avoided. Haha… you’re right. Fala is ambitious, or at least she use to be. For TVB productions, declining a kiss scene isn’t a big deal since they’re not even that good. But if she ever want an Oscar, she can’t opt out of them unless she only films certain movies. But that would not make her a well-rounded actress. Or maybe my expectations are just too high? Lol.
Maybe time has changed. But, in the past, actresses have the option not to film kissing scenes and they were not penalised.
Money Chan has already started dating Liu Kai Chi when she was still in Acting Class. She said in a radio interview years later that she has never filmed a kissing scene throughout her acting career.
In a magazine feature, Nadia said she refused to film kissing scenes and wearing swim suit on screen due to religious reason. She was staunch Christian at that time. No one took offense. She’s still as promoted as ever. The kissing scenes she did in the past were all using camera angle tricks only.

Really enjoyed Kate’s performance in Wax and Wane and wouldn’t mind watching her again in a month or so. After Relic of an Emissary, she proves that she can actually play a kindhearted, sweet, and smart character in W&W. She’s not as cold-hearted as we all want her to be.

Currently watching W&W now and still not convinced with Kate acting in a goody role till now (dunno why?) maybe it’s just me? Her facial and looks doesn’t really show any kindness in them at all. I have no prob with Kate but i think she’ll be better off playing evil roles which suit her better. maybe it’s her eyes that gives out evil vibe than good ones lol.
It’s the mole above her left eye and her pouty lips that make her look like a femme fatale. I didn’t buy her as the sweet and thoughtful Peace in W&W either.

But Kate has been having leading roles way before Fala had them. I don’t understand why since both are rising fadans, but even back in 2008 when Kate was already leading in The Speech of Silence, Fala only had a shared supporting role in 2009′s The Stew of Life.
I think that just proves that Fala can practically lead a series, though most of the time it’s the male lead that is more promenant. I think Kate lacks something in her acting that makes her kinda suck…and she can’t sing as well as Fala. but I think Fala has more protentianal, but hasn’t gotten many good roles yet to prove that. Maybe this new series where she is paired with someone as strong Roger Kwok will be a breakthrough.
Fala is confirmed as the lead now. In the themesong she’s billed right after Laughing before Bosco and Kate is only fourth. That says about her status and her importance over Kate.

Well, even though I don’t care for that, but I also like Kate Tsui. In my opinion, Fala is the better actress for ancient roles. Kate’s not bad but lacks a certain girlish and impish charm that Fala was able to channel. Not to mention an ancient face. I liked Kate just fine in ROE also. I will admit to not being a super critical viewer though…unless of course incidents or characters in the story seriously piss me off.

My teenage brothers love Fala. They said she’s the hottest and prettiest TVB actress currently. I don’t think kissing scenes are necessary. Many times in TVB series some don’t know how to kiss properly.
I guess you are right. I agree that I was never particularly and moved by any TVB artists’ kisses. They just seem amateur? I would rather have a better script and acting any day than a good kissing scene which would only last for a few seconds.
However, I still feel that being a true, professional actress, one should go all out. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons I’m attracted to Kate’s sexiness although her acting has still been on average for me. It’s difficult to dislike her when there isn’t another TVB actress who can play a promiscuous woman in Relic of an Emissary as she as she did.
More kissing scenes just means the scriptwriters are lazy to think of a good plot and leave everything to the actors and directors to kiss as much as possible. That saves the writers from need to write good script. TVB script now mostly suck with exception of TOT and GJ.

Who knows… Why did TVB think about making Lives of Omission air so fast? I think it is quite rushed though the Synopsis if the story seems pretty amazing.I heard rumors of Bosco’s nude pictures or something like that. Still don’t seem to get why it airs so quickly… But i’m glad there is a series that i would watch because of the great actors/actresses.
