Faye Wong Denies Drug Arrest
Earlier today, news tabloids reported that a renowned female celebrity was arrested for drug abuse in Beijing. Since the reports referred to the personality as a diva, netizens took hint that popular Chinese singer Faye Wong (王菲) was involved. Faye’s manager, Katie Chen (陳家瑛), later stepped out to defend her from the unproven allegations.
When the rumors surfaced, one netizen spilled via Sina Weibo, “The entertainment industry is not at peace. A diva was arrested today for drug abuse, and whether or not the media will report this depends on the ability of public relations.” The comment generated a heated discussion, in which many others joined in to guess the diva’s identity. Since Faye is often referred to as a diva by the media, netizens were quick to point fingers at her.
This afternoon, Katie Chen issued a statement that denied Faye’s involvement in the drug arrest. The manager claimed the media did not verify the situation and randomly attached photographs of Faye to their published reports. She expressed it was a malicious and defamatory move that seriously misled online readers.
Directed at the media, Katie’s statement read, “Please protect your professional conduct and refrain from spreading arbitrary rumors. Immediately stop with these harmful false reports. Our company reserves the right to pursue legal action.”

faye wong is indeed a cool enigmatic diva but her heart is full of love and compassion due to her charity and strong faith in buddhism…therefore, we wont believe her drug allegation….she is already a single mum and maybe once her daughters are adults, she might be a nun due to her strong faith in god…we believe she is a clean and healthy diva

Faye is a smoker and a drinker. Or she used to be. She got pregnant with her first child before marriage and cohabited with her previous boyfriends. She’s not as pure as you would like to think. She’s a human afterall.

Faye is pretty cool, and maybe the mentioned diva is her, or maybe not. To say that someone does not do drugs because of their strong faith, their charity work, their single parent status is laughable. There was a catholic priest who was growing marijuana in the church attic and dealing drugs.
Not to forget pedophilia among Catholic bishops as well.
I’m not surprised if it’s true. Many artistes used drugs to combat anxiety and depression. But I really hope it’s not her.
The media and netizens should refrain from engaging in speculation and false accusations. She’s not the only diva in town.

Well, I hope that Faye is innocent as she is not the only Diva in Hong Kong. Netizens and media should point out the right diva. Maybe it is Faye, or maybe it is not.
However, things do have a way of eventually coming out. Years ago, a rumor was going around about how Andy Zhang, the famous boy band manager was gay. His rabid fans, and 90% of the netzens and non netizens were ready to kill those who would dare make such an untrue statement about a Taiwanese, as there are no gay celebrities in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan or Korea. The rumors persisted so Andy married a woman. Well he just got arrested for raping his boyfriend. It all came to light so suddenly and disgracefully after he got married and angrily denied the “rumors”. Things will continue to come out. We are in for a few more surprises this year.
