“Forensic Heroes 4” in the Making? Kenneth Ma, Joey Meng Among Rumored Cast

TVB has yet to confirm or deny this piece of information, but judging from a mysterious message left by TVB producer Mui Siu-ching (梅小青), it is possible that the broadcaster is in the midst of creating a fourth installment of Forensic Heroes <法證先鋒>.

Mui Siu-ching, best known for producing the Forensic Heroes and Beyond the Realm of Conscience <宮心計> franchises, shared on Weibo recently that she has been learning about new forensic science equipment. She uploaded a series of photos featuring TVB production staff investigating new forensic tech, which led to the speculation that the producer is working on a new project, possibly Forensic Heroes 4.

She wrote, “Daily renewal, monthly change. Forensics technology has improved a lot. Never stop learning in life. Gain new knowledge.”

The successful police procedural drama series first premiered in June 2006 and starred Bobby Au-yeung (歐陽震華), Frankie Lam (林文龍), Yoyo Mung (蒙嘉慧), and Linda Chung (鍾嘉欣). The sequel was released in May 2008, with the addition of new cast members Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) and Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎). In 2011, TVB rebooted the franchise with a new story and cast, starring Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Maggie Cheung (張可頤), Ron Ng (吳卓羲), Kate Tsui (徐子珊), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), and Aimee Chan (陳茵媺).

Rumors say that Forensic Heroes 4 will be yet another reboot, and it is said that TVB is looking to cast Kenneth Ma (馬國明) and Joey Meng (萬綺雯) in the lead roles.

  1. my fav is the 1st one with bobby and yoyo! 2nd one was ok. i cant remember if i’d watched the 3rd.

  2. Love the chemistry of Bobby and Yoyo. Kenneth?? Seriously?? Plsss bring back Bobby. Besides, im really interested in seeing Joey in madam role, cold face lol. But i dont think Tvb should make another FH. The 3rd season sucks, watched it bcoz i was rooting for Maggie’s acting, seems like there r no roles that cause hard task for her.

  3. I’m also a fan of the 1st installment of FH because i like the chemistry between Bobby and Yoyo. If TVB is seriously considering to produce FH4, i hope they will cast Bobby again with a new love storyline between him and Joey (as the new female lead).

Meanwhile, speaking of Kenneth, his new drama; The Exorcist’s Meter is a pretty good series (hopefully won’t be ruined by a bad ending), so i’m hoping that he will stand a chance to win the Best Actor award in TVB Star Awards Malaysia next weekend.

Although i also like Vincent, but at least he has won in Singapore. Therefore, Kenneth who has lead many series over the years deserve a recognition too, especially that he hardly got a popular roles recently. Thus, hope he can win any major award since his Siu Ma / Ma Kwai character is so likeable and he acted well for that role too.

For TVB Anniversary Awards in Hong Kong, i’ll like to reserve the Best Actor award to veteran Bobby Au Yeung (hope My Ages Apart is watchable/doing fine till the end) because it’s TVB 50th anniversary…so i hope the BA award is given to a well-deserved veteran like Bobby, whose acting is undoubtedly very good.

    1. @diana80 Yes, FH1 was good for its cases and the cast. Bobby wasn’t his usual comedy role and portray the character well. Yoyo and he were comfortable as a couple. I dropped FH3 after a few episodes, it was boring despite the leading cast.
I also enjoy watching Kenneth in his latest drama. He’s quite convincing as a taxi driver, isn’t he? 🙂
Haven’t watched My Ages Apart so can’t comment but Bobby is a good actor and deserves more recognition.

      1. @bearbear

Yes…Kenneth acted the role of Ma Kwai very well. In fact, Kenneth has been improving lately and i don’t mind if he is casted as one of the male lead alongside Bobby for FH4.

As for My Ages Apart, it is just ok so far (not as great despite the strong casts). I’m pretty much watch it for Bobby and Louis’ funny scenes…and some of Moses’ too. I’m fine for Bobby to win the TV King (if not Kenneth) this year because he is indeed a good actor and his acting is always very natural.

      2. @diana80 That is disappointing to hear about My Ages Apart being just ok but I will still give it a try for the cast, especially Bobby. His chance of winning Best Actor will be reduced greatly if the drama isn’t going to be a great hit. Not every actor can be convincing in serious drama and comedy.

  4. I’m very excited about this hopefully it’s true that there will be part 4 coming soon and yes hopefully Bobby will be in it and of course it’s not the same without him in it. If Joey is in this drama then I do hope they will make her as a couple with Bobby. About Kenneth maybe he’s taking over Ron place as a cop? What about Frankie? Anyone think it’s a good idea to bring him back to the screen again? I do like him in part 1 and 2 with Linda.

  5. I dont mind having Kenneth and Joey in the 4th installment but PLS bring back Bobby!!!! add cast member like Maggie Siu and Kristin Tin these 2 ladies looks good in being a female forensic examiner =P

  6. The first one was memorable. I remember the last wheelchair case the most. Second one was OK but never watched much of the third instalment. Some commented it progressively dropped in quality slightly despite good casting. Even Wayne and Maggie couldn’t save FH3 from weak ratings from what I heard. So I am a bit skeptical of FH4 too even though Kenneth and Joey would make good forensic investigators.

Ps: They need to fix the NOT MATCH. XD

  7. Seriously? Um, sorry but FH 2 and 3 both sucked, so I really don’t see the need to make a 4th installment. I find it sad that producers Lau Ka Ho and Mui Siu Ching have done nothing but produce sequels / spinoffs since returning to TVB. Is that all they are capable of doing nowadays? With LKH and MSC’s combined resumes and the number of good series they produced in the past, I’m disappointed that they are pretty much bringing the “same old same old” back to TVB. What happened to all the hype over that one drama series they produced when they were at NowTV and how “innovative” or whatnot it supposedly was? FH1 was a true gem of a series but FH2 was a poor follow-up, with the only saving grace being that the original team of Bobby, Frankie, and Yoyo were still in it (Linda too but technically she was only guest star)…FH3 was a joke of a series that was obviously made to promote certain artists – I love Wayne, but even he couldn’t save that series from being the disaster it was!
