Gigi Lai Dotes On Youngest Daughter, Pegella

After retiring from the entertainment industry in 2008, it has been rare to see Gigi Lai (黎姿) in public. The mother of three was recently spotted taking her youngest daughter Pegella out for a shopping spree in Central, while accompanied by her maid.

The 43-year-old former actress married businessman Patrick Ma (馬廷強) in 2008, simultaneously announcing her retirement in acting in order to spend time managing her brother’s business and take care of her family. Her last project was TVB drama, The Gem of Life <珠光寶氣>.

Although aware of the paparazzi’s watch, Gigi did not attempt to hide her daughters from the public’s eye. A few days ago, Gigi was seen taking her two-year-old daughter Pegella to a shopping mall in Central. Pegella is said to look like a miniature version of Gigi, and has the same thick eyebrows as her mother. Wearing heels and a short skirt, Gigi looked as fit as ever.

Gigi purchased many toys for Pegella, including a large children’s kitchen set. At a clothing store, Pegella grew impatient and threw a temper tantrum, refusing to try on clothes. This angered the maid, who pointed a finger at her and scolded her. However, Gigi quickly returned to Pegella’s side to pacify her. One of the store’s associates also gave Pegella a book to read.

  1. She’s such a doting mom. However…

“This angered the maid, who pointed a finger at her and scolded her.”

I wonder why she would allow her maid to discipline her child.

    1. @tess and @funnlim where did it say “allow”? Lets say if the article reported “she allows her maid to scold at her daughter” – is it even true?

Buying toys and clothes would spoil the child? Sad to be your kids if you ever have one.

      1. @kitty They will have ways to turn words around to make it true regardless. Disgusting people here.

Glad to see Gigi’s having a good time with her family.

  2. Let’s not spoil the child even if you can. However normal for children to be quite assertive these days and I am surprised she allows the maid to scold her daughter which probably means she is a good “master” so to speak. Could it be that’s not the maid but some relative?

Anyway how do you pronounce the girl’s name?

    1. @jimmyszeto It’s a rare sighting of Gigi and her daughter together. I think a lot of Gigi’s fans are happy to see she is enjoying her family life. 🙂

    2. @jimmyszeto It is so easy to run into celebrities in hk. I saw them all the time in public places and have lived in the same building with some of them. This news is nothing but I don’t mind hearing news on Gigi b/c I liked her alot and glad to hear from her.

      1. @azndoraemon so are you meaning to say that you are rich to live in a place full of celebrities? You seem to like posting many of your personal experiences and brag about what you’ve done. I actually laugh at many of your comments where you seemed so angry and protective of your POV and the arguments given are so pointless.

      2. @patrick If you think I’m rich then I am rich. Did I say full of celebrities? Just so you know not all celebrities are rich, Wayne Lai’s renting his apartment. Since @jimmyszeto thinks this news is nothing special, “a former actress went to the shops” I replied saying although is nothing, but is good to hear from her. You can run into celebrities at the malls, restaurants and especially living by the TVB station and also can run into Chow Y Fat for those enjoy hiking; HK is small. Life is too short, live with laughter is healthy.

  4. I really miss Gigi.. I wish she could make a come back and stay. I’m tired of all these new tvb artists..

    1. @linahsuan…Gigi is pretty. Acting wise, she is not bad.
New actresses now can be a pain watching.

  5. Good to see that Gigi is living a happy life now. She still looks great for her age and if she wants she can make a comeback to tvb. She was a decent actress but not great of course.
