Grace Wong Asks Vincent Wong How to Balance Work and Marriage

Before getting married, Grace Wong (王君馨)  already told her husband that she will not cook. When teased whether it is because she does not know how to cook, she jokingly praised her signature dish, scrambles eggs. “I will boldly say that [my scrambled eggs] taste better than 90 percent of the five star restaurants in Hong Kong. It is aesthetically pleasing and very soft!”

Two days after holding her wedding banquet in Hong Kong, Grace went back to work. At a promotional event with Vincent Wong (王浩信), Grace praised the beautiful aprons sold at the event and hopes to purchase one for herself. “After getting married, I can’t be so relaxed at home. I can’t just wear only t-shirts and shorts. I have to buy some pretty aprons. But Vincent joked that I should just wear the apron and nothing underneath!”

Vincent teased, “If you do that, your husband won’t know which to eat!”

Grace laughed and went on to share that her husband initially wanted to surprise her with a home-cooked meal. “He bought steak. We wanted to open a bottle of wine, but his condition was worse than the day before. He was still very tired. Hopefully after wearing an apron, he will be in the right mindset and have the energy!”

Grace asked Vincent how he manages to balance his work life and family life with his wife Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤) and their daughter. Vincent smiled and helplessly said it was not possible, because work takes about 20 hours a day. Because of this, Vincent advised that a spouse’s understanding is very important.

Vincent also revealed that it has been at least half a year since he had dinner with his parents. “Hopefully these two days of break will give me time to have dinner with them.” Regardless of their schedule, Vincent and Yoyo will make the effort to go on vacation every year. This summer, the couple will bring their daughter along for vacation. “We haven’t decided where to go yet. We’re planning it right now, but we’ll probably go to a place that has famous monuments. I’ve already finished my work for this month.”

  1. Balancing work and family is not easy. Especially when you have kids. For us, kids are in daycare for a long day. At least in HK, you can hired inexpensive Nanny/helpers to help take care of your children and clean the house.
