Him Law Hopes to Win Best Actor in 15 Years

Him Law (羅仲謙) joined the industry ten years ago and made his debut in the film Mob Sister <阿嫂>, produced by Filmko Entertainment. Him shot to fame in 2008 following his performance in the TVB drama Your Class or Mine <尖子攻略>, in which he entered the top five nominations for TVB’s Best Supporting Actor. Though not a managed artiste by the station, Him is currently promoted as one of TVB’s top stars.

Since 2012’s The Hippocratic Crush <On Call 36小時>, Him has been cast in lead roles in popular TVB dramas. This year, he is also contending for Best Actor for action series Tiger Cubs 2 <飛虎II>.

The 30-year-old said he felt scared when he first saw his name on the list of Best Actor nominees for the TVB Anniversary Awards. “I’m not qualified [to be nominated] both in terms of experience and seniority,” said Him. “It makes me feel shy to be in the same line as [seniors]. On the other hand, it also makes me happy because they’re paying attention to me. My feelings are contradictory.”

Supports Roger Kwok for TV King

Him will be competing against many seniors for TV King on December 15. Him said he does not consider himself to be part of the race. Instead, he said he sees himself as a fan who will be going to the awards show to support Roger Kwok (郭晉安). Him got to know Roger very well during the filming of D.I.E Again <古靈精探B> in 2008. Him reminded Roger of himself when he was younger. Both became actors at a young age with a friendly boy-next-door image.

Him said, “Hopefully, I can enter the top five nominations in five years. Five years after that, I hope I can have the chance to win TV King. Five more years after that, I want to win TV King. That will be 15 years! I’ll be 45 then.”

Though Him said he will vote for girlfriend Tavia Yeung (楊怡) for TV Queen, he is “70 to 80 percent sure” that Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) will eventually win the award this year.

Encourages Rookies

Him has made many friends in the industry due to his easy-going personality. Once a rookie actor himself, he understands how important it is stay positive so juniors can feel more comfortable around him. “When I see rookies, I will take the initiative to talk to and befriend them. I was a rookie before too, and I was very nervous during filming. I didn’t dare to make suggestions even if I had them.”

    1. well, thats good though. he could improve and show his potential. at least not like many people who think they could get it right away after filming a few times lol

  1. In 15 years’ time, Tavia Yeung will be acting as his mother. Haha.

  2. Him has been promoted to leading man, first row at the awards show. Even nearer centre than Raymond Wong.

  3. even in 15 years he would suck. he’s just using tavia as a stepping stone. when they got into that “car incident” he didn’t even stick up for her. Boy next door? yeah right. all I see is his arrogant attitude. he’s not acting he’s just being himself >:O

    1. Well, based on her past responses to questions, Tavia does seem like the giving type. And, Him Law IS living under her roof. So, yup, sounds like he’s taking serious advantage (career, sex, room and board, etc.).

  4. He juggling between between support and lead, but Him will be a 1st line actor within the next 2-3 years at most. He has the good look to attract the young audience and with experience and time he acting will just be better.
