Hong Kong’s Elite and Superstars Attend Emperor Group’s 70th Anniversary

Albert Yeung’s (楊受成) Emperor Group, one of Hong Kong’s largest business conglomerates, held its 70th anniversary celebration in Wan Chai on Friday, September 14. In a few years, Albert Yeung’s store expanded into a jewelry business, and the group grew to a large business conglomerate within 20 years. Currently, the Emperor Group has over 500 subsidiaries and over 7,000 employees. Its businesses are found in Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China, Thailand, and Indonesia.

At the 70th anniversary banquet, Albert Yeung took the stage to thank all of his employees and customers, “Thank you to all my staff for fighting the war alongside with me all these years. Thanks to them, I finally understand that talent is more important than wealth. In the future, I will engage more in philanthropic organizations to give back to society, to help those who needed to be help. This is my biggest wish.”

Carina Lau Stands By Tony Leung

With anti-Japanese sentiment growing stronger in China due to the Diaoyu islands disputes between China and Japan, Tony Leung (梁朝偉) was bashed for being a traitor by many Chinese netizens after news slipped that he recently began working on new Japanese film, 1905, with director Kiyoshi Kurosawa.

In regards to the criticism, Tony’s wife, Carina, sighed, “He was already signed on to film the movie in 2009, but they could not get the filming schedule together until now. I hope that everyone will use their wisdom to solve the problem. I want to urge everyone to handle the situation calmly and intellectually. Although sovereignty needs to be fought toughly, people still need to love each other and treat each other harmoniously.”

Carina, who is currently filming Detective Dee: The Prequel <狄仁傑前傳> in mainland China, was asked if anti-Japanese sentiment is currently at its highest tension in mainland China. She responded, “I’ve been filming in Hengdian. I’ve traveled back in time to the Tang dynasty, so I do not know.”

Nicholas Tse Says Cecilia Cheung is Fit

Reporters pointed out that Cecilia’s body shape was not as fit as before, and her belly flab was very noticeable. Nicholas explained, “She had two kids. She’s not 18 or 19 years old anymore. It’s not worthy to discuss.”
