Injured, Ruco Chan and To Yin-gor Film Their Scenes in Wheelchairs

TV King Ruco Chan (陳展鵬) veteran actor To Yin-gor (杜燕歌) didn’t get so lucky on the set of their new TVB dramas, as they both have gotten injured at around the same time.

A few nights ago, Ruco sprained his knee while shooting a mild action sequence for the historical drama Heaven’s Will <天命>. The actor, who plays the infamous Qing Dynasty official Heshen, couldn’t walk after the sprain, and had to film the rest of the scene in a wheelchair.

“My kneecap got slightly dislocated,” said Ruco. “I’ve never hurt my knee before. It’s always the most simple move that gets you injured. I filmed the scene at around two or three in the morning. I fell asleep while waiting for the lighting to get ready. I didn’t warm up properly, so after doing a few action moves, I heard a ‘pak’ sound, and my leg stiffed up. After that, Yin Gor and I had to do the rest of the scene in wheelchairs.” Soon after, it was Yin Gor’s turn to get injured; the actor sprained his ankle and had to be hospitalized the next day.

“I hope everyone in this drama stays safe,” said Ruco, “and I wish Yin Gor a speedy recovery.”

A traditional Chinese medicine doctor has patched up Ruco’s injury, and he expects to recovery in a week. Fortunately, Ruco did not tear the tissue around his kneecap.

“I still can’t walk that well, but we have to continue shooting,” he said. “The action scenes will have to come later.”

  1. Speedy recovery to Ruco! Sad though…he should not push himself too hard! Rest, please! Ganbantte ne!

  2. TVB is pushing their artistes too hard that they don’t have sufficient time to rest and become prone to injury. No wonder their dramas are getting from bad to worse cos their production becomes like an assembly line in a factory. Actors also can’t produce their best when under immense stress to complete everything asap. Wish Ruco no more injuries and a speedy recovery.
