Jaywalk Studio Buys “The Journey of Flower” Movie Rights, Dilireba to Star?

Tied to a 15-year contract with Yang Mi’s (杨幂) Jaywalk Studio, one can bet that Dilireba (迪丽热巴) will be taking the lead in the studio’s major projects.

According to a recent report, the Chinese production studio and agency Jaywalk Studio, created by Yang Mi, has just purchased the rights to produce a film version of the 2015 hit series The Journey of Flower <花千骨>, which starred Zanilia Zhao Liying (赵丽颖) and Wallace Huo (霍建華). It’s been reported that the studio purchased the show’s movie rights for at least 1 billion yuan.

When the movie version for the hit drama was confirmed last year, it was assumed that Zanilia and Wallace would reprise their popular roles. Zanilia, however, had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. At the time, it was rumored that Angelababy would replace her.

With Jaywalk Studio’s new involvement in the movie, it is speculated that the lead role Hua Qiangu could go to Dilireba, Jaywalk Studio’s top artiste.

Dilireba’s possible casting is met with mixed reviews. Many fans pointed out that Yang Mi would be a more suitable candidate to play the lead role, as her 2017 hit Eternal Love <三生三世十里桃花> has already been compared to The Journey of Flower.

I thought it was supposed to be Yi Ling and Mark Zhao? Again wonder how the movie will turn out as with 3 Lives. Hope the screenwriter is good.

HQG had a terrible plot lol. A lot of action going on that led to nowhere. If it wasn’t for Zanilia & Wallace, people would’ve dropped this show like a hot potato.

Maybe the movie will condense/cut the unnecessary details and just focus on plot, which will undoubtedly smooth the transition of the story. JOF was haphazardly filmed and lots of editing looked like it was done last minute, causing a terrible viewing experience.

@coralie Up until ep 15 it was fine. After that bad editing killed it.

Skeptical since the original drama itself sucked so much that even Wallace couldn’t save it. Hated how they had to drag the whole thing out so much and how qiangu and the master was so dumb ughh can’t stand JOF.

Unfortunate choice, master-student taboo isn’t the hype anymore. It was annoying seeing the student fall in love with her master with no reason, is there no differentiation between proper respect and love or what? ZLY managed to look like a kid in order to play such a brainless role like that. Both Reba and YM are aged woman now, why would they want such a role?
I’m guessing they want to do the turning evil part more properly, but it’s still dumb because HQG only turn evil because of the annoying master.

@davy When your sifu is Wallace Huo looking like he is in the show, what to do? If he looks lesser, maybe. But he looks glorious in JOF. As for the love I get it but I hated it as well. But most of all, I hated the production house who failed the fans because they placed money above proper show. JOF’s greatest failure is not the insane story or punishing love but the stupid idiotic moronic editing. Maybe in cinema, we can get the full seduction sex scene or something.

Yang Mi would have been too old for the role of a young girl. and nope, wallace won’t do this. He has already done it, he won’t do it again.

As for this actress, not sure. Is she any good?
