Jessica Hsuan Returns to Hong Kong to Enjoy Time Off thumbnail

During the filming of mainland drama, Xiang Zhi’s Story of the New Capital Market <祥子的故事之新都巿人> earlier, Jessica Hsuan publicly blasted mainland co-star, Wang Zhaoxiang, for his hypocrosies and the difficulty encountered while working with him. Perhaps due to the difficult and exhausting experience encountered earlier, Jessica has decided to take a short break to rest and may go on vacation.

Making an appearance at a Giorgio Fedon event,  Jessica revealed that she had returned to Hong Kong during the Lunar New Year holiday. Since TVB’s rival station, City Telecom (CTI) started actively recruiting former TVB artists and production staff, many people were tempted by the high salaries and good offers. Asked whether Jessica would also collaborate with Ricky Wong’s (王維基) CTI, replied,  “Last year, we discussed the possibility of working together. From what I hear, his company is quite good, allowing the production staff to have a lot of freedom in creative development.”

Pressed as to whether she was interested in working for CTI, Jessica said, “Right now, we do not have a finalized arrangement yet. We will continue to discuss the possibilities together. Hopefully, we can reach a mutual agreement!”

Jessica added that she wished to film a modern drama and assume a villainess role, giving the audience a fresh impression.

Jayne: If a company shows respect, appreciation, and offers a higher salary, most artists would be tempted. I sense that Jessica may enjoy filming in Hong Kong more?

    1. Funn Lim says:

The new companies are actively seeking old faces. So all these complaints of TVB lacking this and that, when using the very same artists, my question is, the accusations are towards the lack of good script or seeing the old faces?

      • Addy says:

I wouldn’t really call Felix Wong or Frankie Lam or Kenix Kwok or Maggie Cheung as “old faces” though LOL. Old faces are probably more like… Ron, Tavia, LF, Linda, Fala, Kate, Kenneth, Bosco… you know, those, lol.

        • Fox says:

There were time when Felix, Frankie, Kenix, Maggie are frequent face on Txb series. They appear in every single series during 80s. However, this time internet wasn’t developed :P

        • Veejay says:

          Addy,

I guess you were born before Felix, Michael, etc era hence you said Felix, frankie, kenix and maggie old face?

Fox is right that there were time that these artists u mentioned appeared on tv almost in every series..

        • Addy says:

Of course I know. But you see, having internet and not having internet makes a pretty big difference, especially among the younger generation. Also, we’re talking about the present here. Whoever that used to be an old face isn’t considered to be an old face anymore. Whoever complained now that we’re seeing Felix Wong all the time? Or Maggie Cheung? In fact, many people welcomed them.

    2. Jill says:

Um, Kenix, Maggie Cheung HY, and Frankie came on the scene in the 90s.
And Internet was around in the late 80s (began in the 60s in fact) but was avail for public usage in the early 90s.

    3. Veejay says:

Jessica should join the new station since she’s uncomfortable filming in mainland due to communication problem and culture?

I guess Jessica is just too open minded and modern to obey the rules set in Mainland production since there’s still high level of corruption, abuse of power there.

    4. Alec Nguyen says:

Jessica is very pretty in this picture. She and Michael Wong (王敏德) are close friends so that’s nice of her when Michael Wong invited her to come this function where the first time he’s co-operated with Italian brand Giorgio Fedon 1919 × MW 2012 to be a designer. ( a clip http://tieba.baidu.com/p/1416640048 )

anyway I also hope Jessica will have a refresh role in the future.

    5. someone says:

She can jump among China – Hong Kong – Singapore to earn money. She has been working for quite a long time as leading roles, she should save a lot. She can choose to earn less to keep her comfortable.

I really liked her but after Sisters of Pearl (?), not much interested. She rarely appears on TVB.

The new station problem does bring new things to TV business, more young supporting artists become leading ones, young artists have more scene time, artists can earn more…it is too early to say but I hope all TV stations can provide quality series, stay in the business.

TVB will share its market, probably TVB will have 50-60% after all other stations get started. I do not make TVB have less than 50% because watching TVB likes a culture but I do not give it 70%+ because there will 4 other stations (?), including ATV.

    6. munkimui says:

watching her cold blood warm heart now. really good!!!! i watched it over and over again. jessica is still looking good.

    7. HeTieShou says:

I think many like Hong Kong more since it is their home and the filming conditions are better, while many also like CHina due to the high fees, new experiences, more rest, etc… I guess you get some you lose some.

    8. judge says:

yah lor… jessica should get over that stoopid frenchie good for nothing boyfriend. Go get an oriental boyfriend, jessica…. go go go jessica…
