Jinny Ng Angrily Curses Netizen on Social Media

Earlier, Jinny Ng’s (吳若希) mother had a severe accident while on her bicycle and is currently hospitalized. Although many fans and netizens left encouraging and empathetic messages on social media to support Jinny, one netizen in particular made a crude joke which made the 22-year-old star curse in anger.

The netizen wrote, “Jinny’s mother must be sad that Young Charioteers <衝線> ended and took it upon herself to film a sequel.” Jinny, who did not find humor in the joke at the expense of her injured mother, Jinny angrily posted a photo of the netizen and blasted him on Facebook. While some supported her defending her family, others believed she acted impulsively and inappropriately and should apologize.

Last night, Jinny visited her mother at the hospital and was surrounded by reporters. When asked whether her choice of actions towards the netizen was thoughtless and rash, Jinny said, “I thought about it carefully before responding. Besides, I used words that were acceptable in TV series aired after 9:30 p.m.!” Jinny further added, “If I can’t even protect my family’s dignity, I don’t think I can survive in this industry!”

Although some felt that Jinny should apologize for cursing and for inappropriately handling the matter, Jinny expressed that she did not feel the need to apologize. “I don’t feel that it is necessary! Even if an apology was necessary, it wouldn’t be because I used curse words, but rather because I am a public figure and it would be a bad influence on young children!”

With tears in her eyes, Jinny heatedly expressed, “I want to say this one more time! Although I, Jinny Ng, is a public figure and a singer, it does not mean my family can be used as the target for fun and jokes! I will not let these types of situations happen.”

  1. Not crude, just highly insensitive. She has a right to blast the netizen as long as she keeps it classy, for image sake. Maybe the netizen thought it was cute, but seriously, very insensitive.

    Ha! Trying the features!

    1. @funnlim Agree! It was an insensitive bad joke by the netizen. I understand that Jinny might be stressed out but then, it shows that she doesn’t act that great under pressure. I think posting the netizen pic is too much! She should’ve think before she acted whether under stress or not.

  2. I would be pist off too if anyone say something about my family cant really blame her!! Pppl in HK looks and image is very important with one wrong move u a ban and frozen from there chinese market

  3. Well actually the netizen did not curse her mum. Considered it a very bad joke. But Jinny’s reaction is overboard…… I know she was sure to be worried about her mum, but agressive lashes out at the comments is too much too…..

  4. I feel bad for jinny 🙁 but at the same time she shouldn’t have posted it on social media. Some netizens are just really rude and inconsiderate. I don’t blame her for reacting the way she did she’s still a young girl and afterall shes human. We would all be upset if someone made a cruel joke about our parents.

  5. Once in the industry, you should be prepared for criticism and offensive jokes. It was a cheeky joke but not against the law. Reacting like that is childish and terrible for her image. If she did not want people to make comments then should have kept her mother’s incident behind closed doors and solve it without the public knowing.

    1. Yeah. I am also wondering who leaked that her mum had an accident. If it was herself, then she sud have anticipated some negative or harsh comments. I mean, you can’t just expect EVERYONE to agree or sympathy with you. If you don’t want others to make fun of your family, then don’t put them out to public in the first place.

      1. I totally agree. She got at least 50 sympathetic comments for every 1 negative comment plus a lot of visitors from the industry to visit her mum but decides to shame and swear at the one who made the negative comment. That is terrible but the worst thing is thinking that apologising to the teens and youngsters who are the main traffic in reading these posts as unimportant.

  6. I don’t think its fair people are telling her to apologise to the guy that made a distasteful joke about her mum. Yes she’s in the public eye, yes she has an image to uphold but first and foremost, she’s human. If her mum had a little scratch on her knee and that guy made that joke she probably wouldn’t have snapped like that, but because her mum has been hospitalised for the injuries, it just makes it that bit more serious.

    1. @melodylai i agree, for all the ppl who think its ok to make such jokes about this sad accident,i ask you, will you still make this joke if this has happened to your own mother? in my opinion what goes around comes around. this mortherpuking guy deserves her greedings.

  7. I think it was completely fair for her to blast the netizen. He was being such a jerk! It was definitely a distasteful “joke” and I’m actually glad that she stood up for herself and her family. I don’t think her response was that harsh…
