Karena Ng Does Not Regret Making Romance with Raymond Lam Public
Since falling in love with Raymond Lam (林峯) on the set of 2012’s Love Is… Pyjamas <男人如衣服>, Karena Ng (吳千語) has been heavily scrutinized by the media. However, the 21-year-old said she does not regret making her relationship with Raymond public.
Discovered by Raymond Wong
Working as a part-time model before her debut, Karena was discovered by producer Raymond Wong (黃百鳴) in 2010. Karena’s parents were initially against her decision to become an actress due to their negative impression of the entertainment industry. “They were afraid that I would waste my time in the industry and not achieve any results.” If it were not for Raymond Wong, Karena’s parents would never have let her become an actress. “Raymond Wong has a positive public image, so my parents trusted me to his care.”
It took an entire year for Karena’s parents to finally accept her career. “They were beginning to understand that I wasn’t just playing around, that I wholeheartedly want to develop my performance career. They were touched by my actions, and now they’re very happy for me.”
Relationship with Raymond Lam
Shortly after dating, Raymond Lam publicly admitted their relationship. Karena, who was filming in mainland China at the time, did not know about it until after a staff member told her about it. “I was working since 5 a.m. in the morning. It was very cold. My body and mind were exhausted. I remember [when I first heard the news] I had no reaction. It wasn’t until a few hours later, after I finally digested what I heard, when I started to think about it.”
Karena did not blame Raymond for publicizing their relationship without her knowledge. She understood why Raymond did it, and supported it. “There was so much gossip about us at the time, and most of them were negative reports. The more you avoid clarifying, the more these false reports keep popping up. He did the right thing at the time.”
“The entertainment industry has changed. More artistes are making their relationships public. Trying to keep everything hidden from the public is difficult.”
Unfortunately, negative reports never stopped targeting Karena even after the news broke. “It’s bound to happen. There are always negative and positive sides to news reporting. It definitely had an impact on us.” Shrugging off the frequent reports about their “marriage plans” despite countless clarifications, Karena believes the gossip would subside as the novelty of their relationship wears off.
Will Quit When She Becomes a Mother
Admitting that she sees Raymond as a marriage partner, Karena was asked about her ideal age for marriage. “Definitely before I turn 35. It’s not a suitable time right now because we are both very busy with our own careers. Everyone wants to have success in their careers. Men want to be successful before they are ready to take the next step. I don’t think [Raymond] is at a spot where he is completely satisfied.”
The young actress professed that she would not retire from the industry if she gets married, but would consider making her exit once she has children. “You can’t leave your kids for others to take care of,” she said.
As a single child herself, Karena said her childhood was rather lonely. “I want to have two kids, preferably girls.”
Denies Materialistic Side
Often portrayed by the media as a demanding girlfriend who is always asking for luxury items, Karena exclaimed, “I’ve never asked him for anything!” Gossip reports went so far to claim that Karena asked Raymond for $8 million HKD in cash. Karena’s management initially wanted her to clarify the reports, but Karena did not bother. “If I had to clarify each report all the time, the next gossip might be even more ridiculous.”
What are some the qualities of Raymond that captivated her? “I never noticed his looks. Instead, I admire his low profile.” Karena added, “He has great work ethics, and a really good character. He is mature, reliable, and very patient. I am not, so it’s a good balance.”

You have to be blind saying she did not have PS. If you look at her face she has her chin done if nothing else. Most Asian celebrities have done PS especially Mainland and Korean actors and actresses. Hong Kong actresses do too but just not a lot. I know you love her but at least admit it instead of denied it.
In Asia it is a trend now the you need to have a S – line nose and V – line face and pointed chin. So everyone go and get them one. Watching the movies, look at their face they all have the same nose, mouth, and pointed chin. My gosh….it looks ugly to me.

I do agree that portation of PS actresses are huge in Asia (Or Hollywood as well) but not all the V line was artificial. Im not blind, I base on her childhood pictures. I think it is better than baseless judgements.

I personally do not feel her features are perfect. Her features may look more unique because she is mixed blood. Not sure about her features but I think she may have had her chin done. One of my friends has very nice features too and many even asked her if she has PS. She has unique features too but she does because she is mixed with European blood like Michelle Reis for example.
Nicely said HeTieShou…I am not like or dislike her to say anything negative but as a celebrity if you have it done because you want to boot your self-esteem or you want to feel good about yourself then go ahead just don’t say I didn’t do anything. I just feel bad for those who go under the knife when they already look beautiful. As far as I know once you have done PS or botox no matter if it is major or minor you will have to do it again and it completely change you from natural beauty to a fake one.
I am Vietnamese and I has seen girls under 18 in my country go under the knife because they want to have a high nose, v-line face and pointed chin even though they already pretty. I guess the reason they do it is for publicity but who know.
Most Asian celebrities have the same facial features due to the trend that you have to have pointed chin, double eye lids, high nose, and V-line shape face. Some of them look ugly to me (that is my opinion so I don’t expect everyone will agree)…LOl

@Panda, RL seems to have a type. Narrow, pointy chins, slim bodies and big eyes. His core requirements, and what’s usually considered the golden standard by most Asians.

I do not feel it is jealousy for the most part. I think many are just annoyed hearing about their relationship. It was like that with Moses and Aimee when they were dating too. They were too high profile that many just got annoyed.
I feel it is jealousy in most of comments. If the couple wasnt LF and Karena, the comments will be different. For example, some protected Lawrence and his wife while bashing the same thing to LF and Karena.
Were they really that high profile? Do they request the reporters to follow them and ask them? Do they go to functions together? Do they write book about their love? Do they make TV show about their love? Do they announce how much their clothes or their trips are? They only went out for a date, cinema, supermarket, trip together. Werent them what the normal couple always do?
I, on the other hand, feel annoyed at how people keep posting the same bashes in all the topics. Is it necessary? If their relationship as a hot topic annoyed people, then the bashes are the same. With a lot of jealousy contained. I think Jodie and some others are feeling the same.
LF and KN are “high profile” because the press makes them “news worthy”! The press follows them everywhere and also “create” sensational headlines and stories to sell their rags! One cannot expect an artist to avoid going out so the press cannot follow them! The press chooses their subjects! If the press respect their privacy, end of stories!

Didn’t LF say this regarding marriage long ago? Well, he’ll be turning 35 in less than a week. LF is full of BS (just like all the recent “hype” about his career with EEG).
In my opinion, lettting the public know about their relationship would be a boast to Karena Ng’s career. So it would be more beneficial to her. But then again, i’m their no one to say that. And wheiter she’s using him for money/fame or so on, we would never know the truth. She might and she might not. So lets not accuse someone in which we dont even know what crime they commit. People judge and criticize, but for Raymond and Karena, it does no harm to them. In the end, they’re having the last laugh. I’m sure Raymond knows the best because he’s not a stupid guy.
I agree with the above statements. I am not sure if I am missing something, but it seems that Karena has a lot of negative comments about being a gold-digger due to the fact that Raymond and her have a large age gap. There are plenty of other celebrities and non-celebrities who are in relationships with large age gaps (eg. Roger Kwok and Cindy Au, Gallen Lo and his wife, to name a few), but they don’t receive nearly as much backlash as Raymond and Karena. I am not really a fan of either of them (nor a hater, so pretty much neutral), but I am just curious as to why people are so sure that she is a gold-digger? She does seem to receive many expensive gifts from Raymond, but then if someone was rich, I think it would be normal for them to want to spoil their significant other and family members.
