Kate Tsui Supports TVB Promoting Rookies

Kate Tsui (徐子珊) attended a function recently where she danced with children. Kate, who has had experience with dancing and also starred in the TVB dance drama Steps <舞動全城>, revealed that she was invited to be a guest teacher to teach a children’s dance class, but had to decline the offer due to her busy schedule.

The 35-year-old actress was earlier spotted on a date with a man who resembled Moses Chan (陳豪), but Kate quickly denied that the man was her date, pointing out that he was just her dance instructor. The misunderstanding caused laughter among her fans. Kate also remarked that her dance instructor’s wife was more nervous than her about the rumor, “She quickly went online to clarify for me,” Kate said.

In response to TVB’s recent move of using more resources to promote 2013 Miss Hong Kong winners Grace Chan (陳凱琳), Sisley Choi (蔡思貝), and Moon Lau (劉佩玥), Kate said, “Promoting rookies is a great thing. When I was a rookie, the company gave me a lot of opportunities, and I’m very thankful for that.”

Kate is not worried that TVB’s recent focus on rookies would hinder her own advances, “Our productions need a lot of actors. There will be a market for all of us.”

  1. Rookies like Grace and Stephanie act better than 30 something Kate.

    1. If you are serious, I think I understand your standard of good acting.

    2. while kate is not an excellent actress but i wouldn’t say the rookies act better…. grace is good but moon is really nah….

  2. Of course she’s supporting the rookies coz it will automatically upgrading Her status to the “senior” actress level.

    1. Having a ‘senior’ status this way only means she’s getting old, not because seniority in acting skills hahaha.

      1. yes…I agree. hahaha
she is getting OLD (actually she is old) compared to the actresses in their 20s. some rookies are doing a better job than kate.

    2. Anyone being interviewed will surely say they’ll support the rookies. How can they said they don’t eventhough not all of them support it.

Not everyone is blessed with good acting skills. Some ppl can improve it whilst some just cant even after years of experience just like Kathy Chow Hoi Mei.

  3. Kate and Myolie doesn’t look as old as compared to Tavia.

    1. I think myolie’s acting is good. she is better than kate and tavia. kate cannot act even after so many years.

  4. Am I the only person who feels like kate is a rookie herself

    1. Kate has been acting in big roles since 2005. Definitely not a rookie. Maybe her lack of skills made you think so.

      1. She definitely doesn’t have lack of skills in acting. Singing definately, but acting wise I think she has improved a lot since her debut and she is very versatile. She’s a pretty good actor and works hard.

      1. Haha I’m glad someone does. I didn’t mean it in a harsh or hateful way, just feel like she doesn’t show much emotion and her cutesy whiny voice is unbearable. I think she’s better than a lot, great dancer but just not my cup of tea.

  5. Kate is an excellent artist/actress. She is talent, versatile and professional. Her singing is not so good thou.

  6. I feel so bad for Kate. She always gets so much hate but whenever I read articles about her or her interviews on TV she always seems so humble. I feel like she understands some of the new Miss HK getting promoted ’cause she was like that when she first started too. It’s nice that she’s looking out for them.

As for her acting I always find her decent. It was never actually “bad” to me. I like her a lot ’cause she tends to go for different roles which gives her a chance to expand her acting in different areas…wish she wouldn’t wear her fake lashes that much though. Drags her eyes down.

  7. I love kate. The rookie sucks like grace, sisley and moon. There the one who can’t act. They act horrible. kate is awesome in everything

  8. I’m not too familiar with Kate’s really personality so I don’t have much of an opinion on her as a person.

In terms of acting, I liked her before but recently I feel like she’s being given the same roles repeatedly – ie the sexy, clever woman. Suprisingly one of my favourite roles from her is from Bounty Lady (even though I didn’t think her acting was all that great), only because it was refreshing. Another role I liked is her tom-boy attitude in On the First Beat.

I do believe she has the skills but she needs to be challenged (and do well in it) or else she’ll crash and burn.

    1. PS I liked her in “Man in Charge” – in fact that was the drama that got me interested in her in the first place.
