  • Kelly Chen and Husband Fighting Over Baby Responsiblities?

    By on June 1, 2010

Kelly Chen and Husband Fighting Over Baby Responsiblities? thumbnail

Kelly Chen Wai Lam’s son, Chace is already ten months old. The public has always perceived Kelly to effortlessly split her time between her family and career.

Since Kelly’s workload is quite busy, it is difficult to be a one-hundred percent responsible mother.  On May 25th, reporters spotted Kelly’s husband, Alex Liu, taking Chace to see the pediatrician. Chace had a high fever due to a gastrointestinal virus. Chace was crying hysterically and Alex appeared visibly angry. Despite Chace’s condition, Kelly was not seen by her son’s side.

Kelly’s priority towards work has led to Alex’s dissatisfaction. Allegedly, the couple had numerous fights recently.  Furthermore, Alex may wish Kelly to give up her career and concentrate on child-rearing.

Jayne: It’s understandable for Alex to look upset, listening to a child’s constant wailing. Kelly is the bread winner and don’t think she is ready to retire yet.

    1. Cynthia says:

I totally agree with you Jayne! Who is Alex to say that she should give up her career when she’s the provider of the family. Where else does he expect to get the money from if she doesn’t work?!

    2. :) says:

Why shouldnt a mother work? She is still a young woman who likes her job. Besides, just like a man who is at work and has to lose his child’s first steps, Kelly has to miss out on some periods of her son’s life. That doesnt mean that she sucks as a mother. Jia you Kelly!

    3. Jean says:

When woman get married and career come first dont think of having children. If they divorce children will suffer.

    4. Sue says:

Kelly your baby is cute so do not destroy
your marriage, please. Baby need their mother’s love

    5. jayzemine says:

I think there needs to be a balance between career and motherhood. I personally think that motherhood is more important than career as you will not get a second chance to be involved with your kids’s milestone, thus Kelly needs to set her priority with work. Not saying she can’t continue her career but she needs to realized that her status is no longer the same, she does not only have a career, she now has a husband and a child.

    6. Lilac says:

What is her husband’s occupation anyway?

    7. Joyce says:

OMG, I am shocked at how chauvinistic men in HK can be. Why should she be the one to give up on her career? The last time I checked, it took both husband and wife to make that baby, so both should be responsible for it’s upbringing and care!

Plus, I highly doubt her husband makes as much money as she does and therefore it would financially make more sense for him to be the stay-at-home parent.

      Good grief.

    8. Susan says:

Since Kelly is a mother now, I think she should put some effort in the family, maybe reduce her work schedule a little bit etc. Or maybe he can discuss with the husband to give up his career as a stay home dad ^^ ha ha ha…

    9. HeTieShou says:

It is hard to balance career and motherhood, but didn’t I hear somewhere that Kelly’s husband was unemployed?? If he is, then of course Kelly has to work to support the family. He really can’t blame her for it. I think it is not the just the mom that is responsible for the child, but the dad as well. I think they both need to do their part. It is not fair to push it all on one person, unless one of them completely stays at home. However, in society today, both the men and women work so it is not just the typical, women stay home while the men work… Nowadays, the term “house husband” has become more common…

In Esther and Nick’s case, he stayed home for awhile to take care of their daughter while Esther worked. I did not see them having any problems with that at all… I guess it just varies from couple to couple.

    10. bob says:

hey Alex, suck it up! being a man means taking care of your family INCLUDING taking care of your children. if you think a womans’ role is at home and man’s role is making money, why don’t you start busting your ass and bring home more money than Kelly. if you can’t, know your role, stay at home and take care of your daughter!

    11. Sky says:

What? this Alex dude doesn’t work? but married to Kelly Chen?? OMG!! he’s the luckiest guy in the world…i think Kelly is very pretty and great singer…Alex is my idol now :D kekekeke…find a wife like Kelly and support me hahahaha

    12. Kidd says:

Uh, why does everyone here make it sound like Alex doesn’t work or his income is measly? I thought both are pretty well to do?
Even if he makes less than Kelly, I don’t think it would be so much less that the family will be destitute of Kelly doesn’t work.

    13. Joan says:

      Chace’s eyes look weird.

    14. Sue says:

Baby needs parents love, especially from mother. If your career is so darm important then you should not get yourself pregnant until you are ready for motherhood.
