Kelly Chen Gave Birth to 6.5 Pound Baby Boy!

Kelly Chen (陳慧琳) gave birth to a baby boy via Cesarean section on March 21st. The new baby, whose name was still not finalized yet, shared a dimpled chin like his 2-year-old brother, Chace. Kelly stated that it was still too early to tell whether the baby resembled her or husband, Alex Liu (劉建浩) more.

According to Oriental Daily, the delivery time of the baby was carefully determined with the help of a feng shui master to ensure the optimal date and hour of birth, while factoring in Kelly, her husband and elder son’s birth dates to increase harmony and compatibility among the family members. Cesarean sections were popular among many Hong Kong artists, since many believed in the power of fate and luck in playing a role in the entertainment industry.

Last March, Kelly had miscarried twin baby girls in her fifth month of pregnancy.  She was eager to have a second child and after several months of rest, 39-year-old successfully conceived via in-vitro fertilization.  Kelly significantly lowered her workload in her last pregnancy, careful to take adequate rest to ensure a healthy baby.

Several days ago, Kelly was spotted picking up her elder son, Chace, from school. It came as a surprise to the public that Kelly gave birth to her second baby so quickly. However, Kelly and her husband have been busy making arrangements for the impending arrival of their second baby, who will sleep in a separate room from his elder brother, Chace, to avoid sleep distractions. Chace has been very excited by the arrival of his baby brother.

Kelly’s husband, Alex, accompanied her into the delivery room at the hospital and cut the baby’s umbilical cord. Due to Kelly’s discomfort from having a Cesarean section, Alex will sleep at the hospital to ensure Kelly’s initial postpartum days were more comfortable.  Mother and baby were doing fine, with Kelly being very happy and a more relaxed mother in her second delivery.

The arrival of Kelly’s second baby was received with much excitement by fans, who left countless messages expressing their congratulations. One fan wrote humorously, “‘Little Dragon Bun’ has popped out of the oven!”

  1. Congratulations, Kelly and Alex, on the birth of your second son.

  2. The baby looks so small in Kelly’s arms, just like a little doll.

I can’t help but notice Kelly’s mascara eyelashes. She looks photo ready under every occasion. *chuckle*

  3. Congrats to Kelly! But that baby in the photo is Chace and not her new baby son, no? She only gave birth yesterday and had a c section. Doubt she would feel well enough to pose for a photo outside already. And she looks way too groomed in the photo.

  4. what do u guys think abt the feng shui time and date of birth ??? i jus think money cant buy u everything.. in the end u determine ur own fate thru ur experiences in life. i honestly dont like her as much as before. her first son chace is not too cute. i rather she sacrifices her looks in order to have a healthy baby….. congrats to her second child. in vitro is an expensive long and painfull process

    1. I agree with you and I think that IF you are born under a good time and date of birth “naturally” and not via C section, then it is most likely more valid. However, if you purposely try to pick a good time to get a C-section so that your baby can born under a good date, then I personally don’t feel that that is valid anymore since it was not natural…

      1. I agree with you, plus I’m not superstitious so I don’t really believe in this sort of thing. Anyways, congrats to Kelly and her family on their new bundle of joy :-). Her kids are adorable.

    2. Did she consult feng shui / bazi sifu for the csection date???

  5. I’m happy for Kelly, too. Now they make a full family. I wish Kelly and her family good health and happiness always. May God keep the babies and the parents healthy always.

  6. I heard that she was joking about how she wanted to match up one of her sons with Andy’s soon to be born daughter… That is so cute..

  7. This kinda make me sad for Shirley’s baby…Kelly is baby came to this world problem free and full of happiness, a beautiful beginning. On the other hand Shirley’s baby was born into problems and scandals because mommy made poor choices. Life is not fair sometimes from the moment of birth :-(.

    1. Sadly life is not fair and never will be fair. There are other children and babies that are even abandoned at birth so Shirley’s baby is still lucky to have a mother, grandmother, grandfather and an uncle that I am sure loves her a lot. Therefore, Shirley’s baby is still very lucky compared to many other children in this world.

    2. Fate is different for everyone.
For me, I look it in this way.
Shirley’s baby would be fast in maturity and understands the world better than Kelly’s baby.
The reason would be individual with complicated/difficult background learn things faster and grow up quickly.

      1. Good points Stephanie! I agree that when you have a harder life, you will be able to mature and endure more as well as become stronger… I guess that is a more positive way of looking at it.
