Kelly Chen (陳慧琳) released photos of her one-month-old son, Riley Lau, yesterday. Born on March 21st, Riley already weighed 9 pounds and appeared to be a large boy like his elder brother, 2-year-old Chace. Kelly was a glowing and beautiful mother in the photos, hugging both her sons lovingly. Kelly’s camera shy husband, Alex Lau, however did not appear in the family photos released yesterday.
Riley was a sleepy baby and had his eyes closed in all of the released photos. Kelly praised Riley as an easy-to-care-for baby, who only wished to eat and sleep in his first thirty days of life. When Riley turns 100-days-old, the immediate family will gather for a quiet dinner celebration, rather than hold an elaborate baby banquet.
Kelly was currently 5 pounds heavier than before conceiving Riley. Breastfeeding her son, Kelly was still recovering from the discomfort of giving birth one month ago. She was not in a rush to exercise rigorously and lose weight.
Although Kelly wished to have a daughter, she said that she may not want to get pregnant again. In an interview with Eileen Cha (查小欣), Kelly said, ”Perhaps this is fate. At this moment, I do not wish to get pregnant again. I just recovered and it is strenuous to go through another pregnancy once again.” Kelly revealed that her husband also felt the same way. In addition, there were possible risks associated to pregnancy, as Kelly had miscarried her twin daughters in March 2011.
Advertisers eagerly invited Kelly to appear at various promotional events. Next month, Kelly will officially resume work. She will continue to prepare for her new music album, in which she had started recording Leslie Cheung’s (張國榮) old song, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter <春夏秋冬>, while she was pregnant with Riley.
Kelly Chen was an extremely lucky lady who seemed to have it all: a loving husband, two beautiful children, and a successful career!
