TVB “Diamond Bachelor,” Kenneth Ma (馬國明) has become a favorite among advertisers recently. Appearing at a Prince jewelry and watch event, Kenneth said that he was busily saving money to buy a new house, while hoping to meet the right woman.
Looking for a home to be at least 1,400 square feet in size for a family of four, Kenneth explained, “When my sister returns home with her two children, there will be enough space. Our current home is 900 square feet, which is very crowded when the kids are there!”
Asked if frequent costar, Tavia Yeung (楊怡), had recently purchased a new house, Kenneth said, “It appears to be so…. If it is, I will congratulate her!”
The 37-year-old heartthrob also admitted to intently looking for a girlfriend. “Yes, I’ve been looking! There are not many choices at TVB. The good women already have boyfriends, so I will continue to look. I’m not in a hurry. While I’m choosing, others are also choosing whether they wish to date me.”
While Kenneth was not extremely selective in his criteria for a girlfriend, he likened the search for a romantic partner to finding the right house, which is dependent on fate.
Leanne Li and Wong Cho Lam Save Money for House
Appearing at the same jewelry event with Kenneth Ma, Leanne Li (李亞男) revealed that she and boyfriend, Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍), would like to purchase a new home before getting married. “Having a house would give a greater sense of security,” the 27-year-old said that she wished to have an independently situated house instead of the popular condo apartments in Hong Kong.
Although their dream for Hong Kong house was not yet realized, Leanne was already a property owner in her hometown in Canada. Since Leanne’s parents still lived in Canada, she plans to divide her time spent there with Hong Kong. Wong Cho Lam also expressed earlier that he preferred Canada as the place to raise his future children, indicating his flexibility in accommodating Leanne’s preferences.

I agree with AC. Leanne is pretty enough that it would be easy for her to find a rich / famous man who seems more compatible with her physically than Cho Lam. I do believe their relationship and love is sincere.

Kenneth seems to be a very nice man. He’s charming, friendly and caring(esp. towards his family) and so I don’t think he’ll find it difficult to find the girl of his choice. I think he just wants one who is sincere like him. Kevin is more picky.

Maybe it’s a bit better security than renting a house, but, not much greater. You still have to borrow money from bank and get tied down for years repaying the borrowed money. If you can’t pay the installment, the bank can take your house to resell it. You will still end up with nothing in this case.
I assumed they buy a house at once instead of in installments. Then I would understand the greater sense of security.
It would be silly to pay off your house unless u have so much money u don’t know where else to put it. Most practical people will buy a house within their means. Don’t buy a mansion if u can’t afford to make the monthly mortgage payments.
First line actors always have excuses of wanting to buy house a first, save money first, not enough money to marry, can’t find girlfriend, but, we see second line actors all getting married early and able to raise children. I’m sure they didn’t make as much as the first line actors. How come these actors can so easily find girlfriends and get married while the first line actors couldn’t?
I think TVb forbid them (these 1st line actors) to settle down so fast since TVB can still use them to milk more money but Wayne Lai is an exceptional case..
In Wayne’s case, that was before he was catapulted to first line status. Luckily, RB made it big, otherwise TVB would’ve continued ignoring the talent…
Anyway, most of the leads are 30+ today, so are we meant to believe they’re innocent virgins? The problem is the fans who go all hellbent on hating/attacking/hurting themselves when their idols are in a relationship.
RB had all the makings of a hit. Viewers love that sort of story. If Heart of Greed, etc can be mega hit, I can’t see why not RB which actually has a decent story and a touching love story.
