Kent Tong’s Niece Joins 2012 Miss Hong Kong Pageant

After the 2012 Miss Hong Kong first round of interviews took place on May 14th, the Hong Kong paparazzi worked quickly to unearth the identities of the contestants. One of the most high-profile candidates was Roxanne Tong (湯洛雯), neice of Kent Tong (湯鎮業), a former TVB artist and famed Five Tigers member.

Twenty-five-year-old Roxanne Tong was the daughter of former ATV actor, Tong Chun Chung (湯鎮宗). Brothers, Tong Chung Chung and Kent Tong, have focused their acting careers in mainland China in recent years. Tong Chun Chung was blunt in stating that he was not overly supportive of his daughter, Roxanne, entering the entertainment industry. He explained that was one of the reasons why he had sent Roxanne to be educated in Great Britain was to distance herself from the influence of the Hong Kong entertainment industry.

Tong Chun Chung commented on Roxanne deciding to enter the 2012 Miss Hong Kong Pageant, “My wife mentioned it. My daughter is grown up now and since she has already applied in the pageant, I will give her my support. Before she applied, I was not too happy about the matter. She will have to decide on her own path; I will not stop her.”

Kent Tong appeared to be more supportive of Roxanne’s decision to enter the beauty pageant. “She is quite pretty and possesses a good educational background, as well as other qualifications. After finding out that she entered the pageant; of course I support her! It is good for a young woman to learn more.  Winning or losing is unimportant. If she wins, of course it is good, as it will broaden her life experience.”

Apple Daily also published photos of long-legged Roxanne Tong partying with her friends. It appeared that Roxanne enjoyed frequenting nightclubs, while appearing noticeably intoxicated with alcohol in one of the photos.

Early Favorite Candidates Followed

Sweet-faced Gloria (left) and Wingto (right) were early press favorites.

After appearing at the first round of interviews for the 2012 Miss Hong Kong Pageant, early favorite candidates were followed by the Hong Kong paparazzi. Sweet-faced Gloria apparently had a close intimate male friend, who was photographed touching her familiarly on the neck while Gloria chatted on her cell phone. Gloria did not reject the man’s advance. Readers also sent in photos of Gloria attending large parties, which were dotted with male friends.

It was discovered that 22-year-old model, Wingto Lam (林泳淘), was a former member of girl band, Lacey Lacey. Wingto had assumed the stage name of Halen earlier and did not experience success under the group.

Vienna, the candidate appearing with a large phoenix tattoo on her back, allegedly did not pass the initial round of interviews for the 2012 Miss Hong Kong Pageant. The selection committee reportedly did not like Vienna’s prominent tattoo.

Serena (left) and Christy (right) were followed by the paparazzi.

The paparazzi also followed 19-year-old Serena Chen (who resembled Viann Zhang 張馨予) and Christy (who was dubbed as a Michelle Chen 陳妍希 look-a-like). The women were discovered going shopping at separate locations and meeting with friends respectively after the interview.

Jayne: For entertainment value alone, Roxanne Tong will likely become one of the 12 official contests competing in the 2012 Miss Hong Kong Pageant. Roxanne does resemble her father, Tong Chun Chung, quite a lot.

  1. didn’t even know they are brothers until now…. interesting

  2. Too much make up.

Sorry to say, if not for their youth and the fact they’re slim, they all look rather bland. But then this is beauty pageant, not star search so frankly it doesn’t matter. But the last girl, with white dress and short hair at first glance I thought Jacqueline Law and then I thought younger but less prettier Myolie. That girl has a look that I find interesting but since haven’t heard her speak, not sure…

    1. i hate look a likes.come with some fresh face tvb!!! be unique, dont copy success!!

    2. I agree that she has way too much make up on. That doesn’t help in my opinion and will give others a false impression since how will she really look once that all comes off?? Her looks look unnatural as well and not just due to the make up but I think she has had some PS procedures done. However, due to her connections in the circle because of her father and uncle being veteran actors, I think she may make it pretty far in the pageant. However, not sure if she will win or not.IF she does, then I think connections will play a big role.

    3. wingto look like a cross between Vivian Yeo and Myolie .more natural and prettier than Myolie but less prettier than Vivien Yeo. Gloria looks.young. Christy look cute but chubbier version of Fala. None has the elegant MHK look.

Kent Tongs isnt bad looking. She might went to top 12

  3. it looks like 湯洛雯 roxanne hade som job done to her nose if you look at the first round video. Look closely and you can see the unnatural shape of the tip..

  4. I do see the resemblance.

I quite like Christy. She doesn’t have much makeup on, enhancing her natural beauty. Wingto is gorgeous! Gloria reminds me of Rainie Yang.

    1. I do too and think that Christy is a more natural beauty. She sort of looks like Myolie to me. I don’t like Serena though and her looks really look empty and fake just like Viann.Wingto and cute and unique looking.

    2. I think Christy cuter than Myolie and look like a chubbier version of Fala. She look cute and natural but not gorgeous enough for the title.

      wingto looks good

    3. I like Wingto. She looks outgoing, frank and natural. I like her style.

I don’t mind Christy, quite straight up good looks.

I think Roxanne looks good as well.

I don’t like Gloria and Serena. Gloria looks too weakly sweet and Serena too plastic.

  5. I thought they would not be holding this pageant anymore. I wonder why they still hold this pageant every year but yet they let Mr.HK have a year off?? I guess this is one of the only ways for women to enter the circle or something…

  6. “Twenty-five-year-old Roxanne Tong was the daughter of former ATV actor, Tong Chun Chung (湯鎮宗).”

“was the daughter…” so she is NO longer the daughter? How did that happen?

    1. lol i don’t either mayb her father disowned her because she has enter MHK

  7. Serena look like a pretty plastic doll lol

I like Christy who has a pretty natural looks with lil make up. Her face is quite bright and have dimple when she smile.

  8. “Roxanne does resemble her father, Tong Chun Chung, quite a lot.”

Yeah, Roxanne does look like Tong Chun Chung quite a lot.

  9. I honestly wonder if one day Andy Lau would support his daughter if she wanted to join the Ms. HK pageant? His wife might since she was once in a pageant too.

  10. 25 years old is kinda old for pageant. No wonder she needs the thick makeup 🙂

  11. wtf Christy looks like Myoli. I thought it was Myoli when i saw the picture!

  12. Roxanne resemble her dad and hope she is a natural beauty. She’s a winner with no plastic surgery.

  13. Roxanne’s teenage pic is revealed and compared with her current pic in some recent mags. Will she win the contest with the prior negative news like this? Samantha Koo lost her close award just because of the negative news, but she recovered after that and got promotions. Even if Roxanne can’t win, maybe the future for her is still bright.
