Kevin Cheng: “Grace Chan Has Too Many Wonderful Qualities!”

With his strong eyebrows and hard jawline, Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) often gives off a masculine and macho image. However, Kevin takes a steep turn from his usual roles and portrays a nagging man in the currently airing drama, Destination Nowhere <迷>, which is his last drama at TVB.

The potential breakthrough role was written specifically with him in mind by producer Amy Wong (王心慰). Although many previous TVB actors and actresses have expressed discontent with the company, Kevin reflected on his own experiences fondly. “In the past, TVB was very important to me. Without TVB, there would be no Kevin Cheng. TVB is a place to train actors and gives them many different things to try. It allows the actors to get familiar with the field.”

After leaving TVB, Kevin plans to establish his own production studio. This will allow greater control over the direction of his career and allow Kevin to try new challenges.

Not only has Kevin found success in his career, he is also in a stable relationship with former Miss Hong Kong, Grace Chan (陳凱琳). Due to the large age difference, fans were not keen on their relationship and did not believe it would last. Kevin reflected, “I feel that words of defense are useless, so I will not choose to explain things at inappropriate times. I just need to do what I should do and be natural. People will talk about everything. I am not living my life for them. I just want to live happily. As long as I am not hurting anyone, then it’s okay.”

At 47 years old, Kevin possesses the desire to start a family soon. However, Grace has just kick started her career in the entertainment business. Not wanting Grace to have any regrets, Kevin is supportive of Grace focusing on her career at this point. “I can’t take away her right [to do what she wants to do]. As long as she wants to continue doing it, then I will continue to let her. It’s that simple.”

The 25-year-old actress’ naivety is complemented by Kevin’s experiences in life. Grace has complimented Kevin for being mature on multiple occasions, and shared that he would give her the best advice and encouragement at times of confusion.

Kevin also has words of praises for his girlfriend, whom he finds to have many wonderful qualities. “Grace has an extremely kind heart. She’s very nice, very smart, and very caring towards the feelings of coworkers, friends, and families. Besides, she’s a Cancer, so she has a strong sense of family and gets along well with them.” Kevin said Grace’s thought process and ways of handling things is very mature. He added, “You’ve seen her speak. I think the way she handles the media is better than me. She is truly both beauty and brains.”

  1. we have heard her speak…chatterbox. she is only 25 while he is 47. good luck waiting for her to settle down.

  2. Not his breakthrough since he already did. But i really enjoyed his performance. And he is right about grace on her eloquence. She talks lot but t thats ok that those who refuses to say a thing.

  3. I just hope she will be like Aimee Chan get married and have children stay home with them and never be on the screen again because her acting still sucks than ever and plus her boyfriend is not getting any younger it’s about time for him to start a family.

  4. Eh, Kevin was never a “masculine and macho” to me. He was more of a pretty boy like a member of a young boy band.

  5. So are they only gonna get married and have kids when KC reached his 50s? He needs a lot of upkeep on his appearance to look young enough to match her

    1. @itsmeg that’s the problem when the man finds a younger actress as gf. he has played the field and wants to start a family but other half has just started…based on her performance, it’s unlikely she will improve compared to the others from 2013 Miss HK contestants.

  6. Just finished Destination Nowhere. I gotta say, one of the best from TVB from.. wow, for a long long time. Not perfect, but just wow. Love the ending.

    1. @funnlim Rly? I had gave it a pass bc of the cast. Hrm… Maybe I’ll give one or two eps a go.

I’m actually watching Tiger Mom Blues atm. I like it. Enjoy everyone’s performance thus far. The slice of life story ain’t bad either. This might be my new “swap, tap, love” where it was lowkey and underrated but so deserve some sort of recognition.

      1. @jjwong @funnlim

Agree that DN is pretty good. But it could have been a bit more fast paced.

Ayyy Swipe Tap Love fan! I just finished rewatching it. Tiger mom Blues was also a pretty solid drama 🙂

    2. @funnlim I like this drama too (note to someone out there: no it’s not becos of the (to you) “eye candy”). Cal’s life started to unravel after she took that first $400k and from there she dug a bigger and bigger hole for herself, covering up one lie with another. The early episodes don’t seem like much but I liked that episode (was it ep 8?) where Oscar committed suicide, almost couldn’t breath from all that suspense.

      1. @isay2 I forgot how much she took at first. Was it just so little to buy her soul?

Anyway anyone knows the full cast list and characters name? Can’t find the wiki page.

    3. @funnlim I had mixed feelings about the show. I thought Krystal was overacting and not believable. But TVB seems to like villains who overact lately (Bosco and almost everybody in Burning Hands). Do all TVB villains end up in the psych ward? The supporting cast was good though. King Kong, Fei Fei and King Kong’s girlfriend were actually funny.

  7. @funnlim that’s 19 eps, practically the whole series lol xD Forgot what year it started in but I pretty much can watch first few eps and last eps of a series and stipl get the jist of the story. TVB is notorious about their fluffy middle.

@bubbles23 Oh yas! I did enjoyed STL lots. One series in a long time that I didn’t cringe at the romance. Out of all their pairings (Raymond and Priscilla), I like them in STL the best. Their development seemed natural and not OTT. Yes, there were still some cheesy, only in TVB set up but they were well done.

    @canadian That’s typical TVB laziness when it comes to their villains. The only possible way they can ever explained why a person is bad is they’re mentally disabled. Just as how overused the twin concept and baddies sex change -_-;

  8. I do think that both Kevin and Grace is a mismatch pairing. Being much older he might have to give in a lot to a younger half. Hope he had the energy to align himself to a much younger Grace. Good luck to Kevin.

    1. @blest62
I think it’s a good match tbh. In terms of offering advice and protection like a father to a daughter. While Kevin himself can feel younger all that the same time. When she learns and matures though then I doubt that she will need him anymore.
